Ten
George looked between the three boys. All of them had red faces and were out of breath.
"Well? Get on with it," George urged when nobody spoke.
"We were just walking around the hallways because we were bored or whatever, right? And all of a sudden we hear Schlatt talking to someone around the corner. So we hid behind a wall and listened, obviously. He was talking about some... chips? Like the kind that you get implanted. He said something about all of us having them, and that they've never been activated," Antfrost explained quickly.
George looked across the room at Sapnap who looked just as confused as he felt. "So... what does that even mean? We all have chips inside of us? That doesn't even make sense."
"I don't know. That's all we heard before they started walking towards us and we ran away. But there's something off about this place, dude. I think we're being lied to about something," Skeppy butted in, taking a seat next to Karl on his bed.
"How is that even allowed? People can't just... do that? Like, how did the government allow for that to happen?" Karl asked.
"Not only the government, but our parents. How is everyone just okay with this?" Sapnap added.
"We need to do some digging. Find out what the hell is going on," Dream muttered flatly.
George hopped down from his bunk and sat on Dream's. "How would we even do that? Does Schlatt have, like, an office or something?"
Dream shifted in his seat and his leg brushed up against George's. George ignored it.
"He has to, right? He's gotta keep his things somewhere. Maybe we could ask around; see if anyone knows anything?" Antfrost suggested.
"No, we can't raise suspicion. I don't want a repeat of what we just went through. But we could ask Quackity. He helped us before. As long as we don't give him too much information we should be fine," Sapnap reasoned.
"We should start organizing proper meetings. We should form a militia or something," Karl said excitedly.
"Karl, I'm not sure you know what a militia is," Sapnap teased.
"Okay, but he's got a point. If we're being serious about this we need to be organized. We should start holding meetings. And we should invite Bad and Ranboo next time," George agreed.
"Ranboo? Are you sure, George? He's kind of close with Wilbur, and even he said that we need to be careful around him," Dream asked from beside him.
"I know, but... I don't know. I just- that connection. It's still there, and I think it's important. I want him to be in on this. He'll be my responsibility," George said as he looked around the room for approval.
"Alright. If you say so, I guess. He'll want to tell Tubbo, though, so we'll have to do something about that," Skeppy reasoned. "So, about meetings. How about every Tuesday at 7? None of us test that day, so it should be fine."
"Sounds good. I'll tell Ranboo the next time I see him. We'll figure out what to do about Schlatt then. For now, get out. I'm tired," George dismissed as he climbed out of Dream's bed and onto his own.
After a few quick goodbyes, Skeppy, Antfrost and Callahan were out the door. There was too much going on, too much for George to process. He heard the distant sound of Karl's voice as his eyelids slid shut, but he was out like a light before he could even try to discern what he was saying.
George awoke the next day to the sound of Quackity's voice. He was dancing around their room, blasting Spanish music from a small speaker he was holding.
"Alex! What are you doing?" Karl groaned, covering his ears with his pillow.
"It's Monday, fuckers! Best day of the week! Rise and shine!" He sang, poking Karl in the side. (i have lost complete track of time in this story so we're just resetting and now it's monday.)
Dream shot up and stormed over to the shorter boy, yanking the speaker out of his hand and smashing it on the ground. It broke apart easily, the music immediately cutting out on impact.
"Hey, what was that for?" Quackity whined. Sapnap and Karl burst into laughter, not even trying to be discreet about it. "You're all assholes," He muttered before bending down to pick up the broken pieces.
George sat up and rubbed his eyes. It felt much earlier than it usually did when they were woken up. "What time is it?"
"5:00 A.M," Quackity responded nonchalantly as if he wasn't waking them up two hours early.
"What the f-"
"Can it, Sappy Nappy. I don't want to hear you complain. Today is the mile test."
"The fucking what?" Dream groaned, looking at the other boy incredulously.
"Yeah, the mile test. Schlatt talked about it at the last meeting. Should have been listening. Anyway, everyone has to be out in the yard at 6:00. Prepare your legs, boys."
"Wait, what if we can't?" Karl asked, a worried look on his face.
"Don't worry, Karlos. This is just to weed out the stronger ones from the weaker ones. There's no punishment if you can't do it. Now, get ready. You have almost an hour before you have to be out there. See you then!" Quackity dismissed, offering them a quick salute before exiting the room.
"God, I fucking hate that guy," Dream mumbled, flopping back down onto his bed.
"This is getting ridiculous. A mile test? What is this? Seventh grade?" George groaned, rolling his eyes at the mere thought of running.
"What's wrong, Georgie? Afraid you won't be able to do it?"
"Dream, one of these days I'm gonna cut your tongue off. And I'll feed it to Sapnap."
"Yummy," Is all Sapnap said before George watched his face go completely pale. "I'm gonna be sick," He barely whispered before jumping down from his bed, not bothering to use the latter, and sprinting out the door.
"What the hell was that?" Dream asked.
"I don't know, but I'm gonna go check on him," Karl said worriedly. He rushed out the door after the raven haired boy, leaving Dream and George alone.
"So, Georgie," Drema started, standing up and peering at George over the railing of his bed, "About that tongue thing..."
George fake gagged before shoving his foot in Dream's face, making him back away."You truly are a threat to society."
"Yeah, you love it though." Dream smirked, cocking his head to the side when a noticeable blush creeped up George's neck.
"Do not. You're gross. How are you this flirty so early in the morning?"
"Oh, you think I'm flirting with you, Georgie?"
George just rolled his eyes before scooching towards the end of his bed, attempting to climb down the latter, but before he could he felt two big hands reach underneath his arms and lift him up. Before he knew it he was standing next to Clay, the taller boy beaming down at him.
"I could have done that myself," George grumbles, pushing past the other boy to grab clothes from his dresser.
"I like helping you."
"Whatever. Get changed. We should go check on Sapnap and Karl." George said, quickly pulling his shirt over his head and slipping a clean one on.
"Woah, slow down! Take me to dinner first, sheesh," Dream joked before turning to his own dresser.
"Shut up, you and Sapnap do it all the time. Get changed in here, I mean."
Dream wheezed at the clarification, keeping his back turned as he changed into his own clothes. Once they were both done, they went to leave before George remembered something. He grabbed clothes from both Karl's and Sapnap's dressers, throwing some into Dream's arms.
"So they don't have to go back to the bathrooms," George explained before leading them out. They rushed to where they assumed the other boys would be, and pushed the door open to see Sapnap hunched over a toilet, puking his brains out while Karl held some of his hair away from his face.
"He hasn't stopped since we got here," Karl said, looking over at the other boys with worry in his eyes. "He said he hasn't eaten anything weird recently, so I don't know what it is."
"I'll find Quackity," George offered before rushing out, heading towards the yard. He had no idea where the other boy could be, but this guess was as good as any other.
Sure enough, when George ran out onto the grass, Quackity and Techno were there, drawing lines on the ground with cans of spray paint.
"George! You're early! We're just mapping out the mile now, what's up?" Quackity greeted, dropping his can to the ground when the taller boy approached.
"It's Sapnap," George explained, slightly out of breath from running from the bathrooms. "He's really sick."
"Shoot... Techno, I'll be back."
George turned back around and sprinted back to the bathrooms, Quackity running behind him. "Slow down, man! It's too early for this shit."
"Says the one who's forcing dozens of kids to run a mile at 6:00 in the morning," George called over his shoulder, not slowing down until they reached the bathrooms.
"Good point. You're still an asshole," The shorter boy panted, yanking the door open and going inside.
"Oh, Sapnap! Would you cut it out? You're getting vomit on the floor!" Quackity complained, making absurd hand motions to express his discontent.
Sapnap kept his head in front of the toilet, but he lifted his hand and flipped the boy off.
"Jesus christ, I don't get paid enough for this," Quackity mumbled before pulling a walkie talkie out from under his coat that George had never noticed before. "Yeah, we've got a problem in the bathrooms. Can we get a nurse in here?"
Two minutes later two nurses came rushing in, one carrying a portable stretcher.
"Woah, I don't think that'll be necessary, ladies. He just can't stop puking long enough to pull his head away from the goddamn toilet." Quackity explained, making a disgusted face at Sapnap's retching sounds.
The nurses waved the rest of the boys off and Quackity ushered them all out, struggling a bit when it came to Karl. "No! I can't just leave him!" He protested as Quackity grabbed his arm and basically had to drag him out. They all stumbled out into the hallway, almost running straight into Schlatt, who was briskly walking past them with a small phone held up to his ear.
They only heard a bit of his conversation before he noticed the group and sent them a dirty look, deciding not to speak again until he was out of earshot. But it was enough.
"No no, it's working, Eret. He's a pyro."
