3RD PERSON POV

November 4, 2019

2:30 pm

Ocean sat down on the porch in the backyard of her parent's house with her mom. It was peaceful and warm outside. The sound of the birds chirping and bees buzzing filled both of them with a sense of calm. They both sipped on glasses of lemonade that they made together

The peace was soon disrupted by the pitter-patter of two little feet rushing outside. The wood-framed glass door opened and Ocean's little brother came out onto the porch. "Mommy! Mommy!" Ryuuichi called out

"Yes, sweetie?" Mrs. Kaneko asked. She looked down at her hyper child. Her gaze being enough to calm him down. She had a calming aura to her. It was almost impossible to be angry or upset with such a sweet and loving person by your side

"Can I have lemonade please?" Ryuuichi asked. He tapped on the chair his mom sat in. He gave her a big smile that could brighten anyone's day

"Of course you can," Mrs. Kaneko reached over to the pitcher of lemonade on the table next to her. She took an empty glass and poured in some of the drink, letting an ice cube fall with it. She handed the glass to her son

Ryuuichi took a sip of the lemonade before setting it back down on the table next to his mom. He immediately walked over to his big sister. "Big sis!" He gleefully said. He opened his arms out for her to pick him up

Ocean set down her drink and picked up Ryuuichi. She set him on her lap. "Alright, what kind of trouble have you been getting yourself into in Pre-K?" She jokingly asks

Ryuuichi was about to respond when the opening and the closing of the screen door cut him off

"Mrs. Kaneko, your husband needs you in his office," Steven, the personal assistant of Ocean's dad, informed Mrs. Kaneko

Mrs. Kaneko got up from her seat and walked to her husband's office. The two of them talked about business. While that happened, Steven went to Ocean's side, asking her if she needed anything, referring to her as 'Ms. Ocean'

"Steven, you know you can just call me Ocean. You're two or three years older than me," Ocean stood up from her seat, Ryuuichi in her arms, a little sleepy. "Plus I've known you since I was a senior in high school. If anything I should be calling you Mister, Mr. I Graduated High School With An AA Degree,"

"Sorry, it's a force of habit," Steven sighed. "But. Can I get you anything?" He asked again

Ocean shook her head before her mom called out for her and Steven. She exchanged a confused look with Steven before rushing into the house and her dad's office, Ryuuichi still in her arms

"Steven, Ocean. I know it is so short notice, but your mother and I have to leave for Japan. By Wednesday and we won't be back until the 12th. Which means, Ocean, could you please watch over Ryuuichi with Steven?" Mr. Kaneko asked

"What? Why so soon? What happened?" Ocean questioned. She held on tight to the sleeping boy in her arms

"The company needs help and I can't do it from here. Your Uncle is failing me!" Mr. Kaneko let out a strained sigh. "Please, Ocean,"

Ocean nodded. "Yes, I can watch over him. But why is Mom coming too?" She continued to ask questions so she can fully grasp onto the situation that was happening

"I'm going as a support system. I can't have him killing anyone," Mrs. Kaneko held her husband's hand, rubbing his knuckles with her thumb

"I will watch over your son for you Mrs. and Mr. Kaneko," Steven gave them a nod

"Thank you, both of you," Mr. Kaneko said

TIME SKIP

November 6, 2019

1:00 pm

Robert had gotten a message from Ocean asking if he could come over an hour before. He had just gotten from the gym and wanted to freshen up. When he finished getting ready, he got to Ocean's apartment as fast as he could. He wore jeans, a belt, black shoes, and a tight black shirt

When he got there, he used the spare key Ocean gave him and opened the door. "Hey, Ocean!" He greeted her when he walked through the door. He looked in the kitchen right by the door and saw Ocean standing there, putting away her dishes. A small boy clinging to her leg

"Hi, Robert," Ocean smiled at him. She put away the last plate. She wore a gray plaid skirt, black tights, and a long-sleeved dark orange shirt. She stepped aside to showing Ryuu ina  clearer view

"Who's he?" Robert asked, confused. He set down his bag on a chair and pet the black cat on the chair next to him. "I don't remember you having a kid," He joked

"This is my little brother, Ryuuichi," Ocean walked up to Robert. "Say hi Ryuu," She slowly ushered him over towards Robert

Robert bent down a bit. "Hey, Ryuuichi. I'm Robert," He took Ryuu's small hands and shook them

Ryuuichi raced back behind Ocean to hide again. He clung on tight to her leg. He was shy around people he didn't really know as most kids are

"Why did you call me over here?" Robert asked. He took off his hat and ran a hand through his hair before putting it on Ocean's head. Since his head was bigger, it slid down and covered Ocean's eyes

"Do you mind helping me babysit this little guy?" Ocean asked. She watched Ryuuichi walk over to the couch to get his bear. She took off the hat and placed it on the kitchen counter

"Sure!" Robert agreed. "What are we gonna do with him today?" He ruffled Ocean's hair and give her a little smile, his hand moving to caress her cheek

"Well, there's a farmer's market in the parking lot of a nearby park, I need to get groceries. But, I was also thinking that we can have a picnic in the park. Go get ice cream after," Ocean suggested. She removed Robert's hand from her cheek. "OR, we can go to the museum. Or hang around LA. Go get some food, do some shopping,"

Ryuuichi walked back up to Ocean. He held out his bear to Ocean. "Kota wants to see fishies!" 

"Well, it's decided then, aquarium it is!" Ocean smiled. "Let me pack my bag for the day. I'll be right back. You two can get to know each other," She went into her room and packed one of her small backpacks with a small first aid kit, her wallet, her phone, charging cables, and a portable charger. She put on the backpack and picked up Ryuu's backpack. She placed a spare change of clothes and his Ipad inside it

Meanwhile. . .

Ryuuichi held onto his bear tight as he looked up at Robert. "You are very tall mister!" He commented

Robert knelt next to the small boy so he didn't have to break his neck looking up at him. "Thank you. If you wanna grow up like me, you gotta listen to your sister and drink your milk and eat your vegetables. Alright?" He smiled at the boy

Ryuuichi nodded. "Are you dating my big sis?" He asked, genuine curiosity fueling his brain. Though the way it came off, it sounded really blunt

Robert's cheeks were immediately taken over by a bright red blush. He didn't know how to respond to this. He wanted to date her, yes but, was this the right thing to say to a child? For all he knew Ryuu could blurt it out. "No, but I want to. That's our little secret, okay?" He said

Ryuuichi giggled. "You're voice sounds funny!" He said, referring to his accent. He smiled at him. He was slowly warming up to Robert

Ocean came out of her room and walked over to the two of them. "Okay, Ryuuichi I got your backpack," She handed him the bag. "What snacks do you wanna bring?" She asked him, opening her snack cabinet

"Fruit roll-ups and. . . cuties!" Ryuuichi gleefully requested. He put his stuffed bear into his backpack, making sure its head stuck out

Ocean put the snacks Ryuuichi wanted into small Ziploc bags and then into her backpack. She also threw in a couple of granola bars and protein bars. And water bottles 

TIME SKIP

5:00 pm

The three of them walked out of the aquarium and got into Ocean's car. Ocean buckled Ryuuichi into his car seat. "Did you enjoy the aquarium?" She asked Ryuuichi

Ryuuichi yawned and nodded. "Mhm. . . Thank you big. . . sis. . ." He fell asleep. It's been a long day for him and he was very tired from walking around everywhere

Ocean closed the door of the car before getting into the driver's seat. She watched Robert get into the passenger's seat as she set up her phone to play music and give her directions home. She started the car and started to drive back to her apartment. "I forgot to ask. Do you need a ride home or did you drive here yourself?" Ocean asked

"I drove here myself but I wouldn't mind staying over again. Like I did when you first moved into your apartment," Robert suggested. "I have a set of spare clothes in my bag cause I was at the gym beforehand and I have a toothbrush and toothpaste in my glovebox,"

"Well, if you want," Ocean muttered. Her eyes were focused on the road ahead of her. When she could, she would look through the mirror of the car to check on Ryuu. She smiled seeing him sleeping so peacefully

The song I Like Me Better by Lauv started to play

Robert would take small glances at Ocean. Seeing her smile made him smile too. When Ocean stopped at a red light he took his chance to say something. "Hey, Ocean?"

Midnight into morning coffee, burning through the

"Yeah?" Ocean looked over at Robert. Her smile remained from when she checked on Ryuu

"I love you," Robert told her. He said it in a voice that said, 'this is genuine, and it will never stop being genuine' He gave her a small, innocent, and happy smile that would melt anyone's heart if they look for too long

Ocean let out a soft laugh and returned his smile. "I love you too," She responded. She let out another laugh, a little louder this time. She turned back to the road and saw the green light on the other side turn red. Then the red light turned green for the left turn lane

I knew from the first time, I'd stay for a long time, 'cause

Robert knew his chance to do this was slipping away. His conscious fought back and forth on if he should do this or not

Ocean sang along to the song. It was one of her favorite songs and it put her in a good mood

I like me better when I'm with you

Robert held Ocean's chin between his thumb and index figure. He made her face him before placing a sweet kiss on her lips. His hand fell to the center console of the car 

Ocean was caught off guard at first. Her hands stayed on the steering wheel. But slowly she kissed back. It was a familiar feel that she loved very much. She took one of her hands off the steering wheel and placed it on Robert's chest. The other hand fell near the bottom of the steering wheel

Just as Robert ran a hand through Ocean's hair a car horn beeped at them. The two of them separated, blushes spread across both of their faces. Robert went back to sitting up straight and Ocean started to drive again. The two of them enjoyed the  rest of the song as Ocean got to her apartment building

When Ocean parked, she turned the car off and got out. She closed her door and opened the door to the back seats. She gently shook Ryuu to wake him up. "Wake up Ryuuichi, we're here," She said in a soft voice. She unbuckled him from his car seat

Robert got all of their bags and carried them. While waiting for Ocean to wake up Ryuu, he got his phone out and texted Jon that he's staying over at Ocean's place for the night. To which he got the response, "Have fun but not too much fun 😉"

Ryuuichi stirred awake. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. He reached out to his big sister. "Big sissy?" He asked. His vision readjusted and he got out of his car seat. He got out of the car seat and hugged Ocean tight

Ocean smiled and knelt to his side. "You want a piggyback ride?" She asked. She could tell he was still tired and didn't want to walk anymore after. She saw Ryuu give her a small nod. She allowed him to climb onto her back

Ocean walked to her Ocean's apartment, Ryuu half asleep on her back and Robert by her side. "What do you want to do? It's only like 6," She asked Robert. She was in the mood for anything really, as long as it's kid-friendly

"We can watch movies and make dinner," Robert suggested. He had something else in mind, but he pushed back to the depths of his mind. He still had hope that Ocean would suggest it later on. His repressed a blush from appearing on his face

Ocean nodded. She got to the door of her apartment. "Robert? Can you unlock the door?" She asked. She was still holding onto her little brother and she didn't want to risk accidentally letting him fall down

Robert took out his key and opened the door. He walked in first and held the door open for Ocean to walk through. Once she was in, he closed it and locked the door. "Where does Ryuu sleep?"

"Oh, I set up a small airbed for him in my room. And I put pillows around it just in case he rolls off of it," Ocean walked into her bedroom and set Ryuu down on his airbed. "Go pick out your sleeping clothes and I'll help you change," She told him and watched him run over to his suitcase. She let out a sigh and walked over to Robert who was standing at the doorframe. She rested her head on his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist

Robert hugged her back. He knew she loved his hugs because of his strong arms. "So, what do want to watch?" He asked her. He kissed the top of Ocean's head. "Or, what do you want to eat?"

Ocean thought for a bit. "Maybe we could make pasta," She suggested. "Ryuu loves pasta especially the bow tie pasta. Just like I did when I was a kid," She felt her leg be poked. She pulled from the hug and turned around. She saw Ryuu standing there, sleeping clothes in hand

Ryuu held out the clothes to his big sister. "This," He said. It was a red shirt with stars on it and white pants. He felt his head be pat by his big sister. He watched as she closed the door on Robert. He changed into his sleeping clothes with the help of Ocean. As soon as he was done, he opened the door and ran to his bag. He got out his bear and hugged it tightly

Ocean walked over to the kitchen and took out a black journal that was filled with recipes from one of the kitchen drawers. She set it down on the counter and flipped the page to her favorite pasta recipe. She read the recipe quickly, she knew how to make it, but could never remember the ingredients 

"Alright, what do you want me to do?" Robert asked. He hugged Ocean from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. He read over the recipe. "Did you make this recipe?" He asked her, noticing it was written in her handwriting

"Huh? No. It's a family recipe on my mom's side. They love their pasta. Anyways, they like pasta so they made their own recipe and I love it," Ocean smiled. "They pass it on to their children when they move out of the house"

Robert had the thought of them having a family and passing down the recipe. But he had to push that thought away. "Well, let's get cooking," He placed a small and gentle kiss on the nape of her neck after he moved her hair to the side

TIME SKIP

8:00 pm 

(IT BEGINS)

Ocean sat down on the floor next to the airbed. She finished reading a Dr. Suess book to Ryuu. She closed the book and set it on her lap. She placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled seeing him sleeping. Ryuu was a heavy sleeper and the only way to wake up him from 8 hours or so of sleeping was to shake him and call his name. She got up from the floor and put the book away. She walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. She walked over to Robert who was on the couch scrolling through Netflix

"Is he asleep?" Robert asked, scooting over to give Ocean some room to sit next to him. He watched Ocean's cat strut by and sit down the chair next to them. He looked back at Ocean who nodded at his question. "So, what do you wanna do?"

Ocean cuddled closer to Robert's chest and felt his arm wrap around her shoulder. When he asked her the question, stayed silent for a second. She let her cheeks flush a bright red hue. "We could. . . finish what we stared in my car," She suggested

Robert smirked. "I would be delighted to," He brought her lips onto his for a kiss. And in an instant, he felt her kiss back. He broke the kiss for a second to bring Ocean onto his lap. After he did this, he reconnected their lips once again for yet another sweet kiss. "I love you," He muttered in between a kiss

Ocean wrapped her arms around Robert's neck and straddled his waist. "I love you too," She whispered. She stopped her lips centimeters away from his lips. The corner of her lips turned up into a smirk. "I think I want to watch Wall-E," She whispered to him, she got off of his lap and sat next to him

"Tease," Robert mumbled and put on Wall-E. He got a blanket that was hanging onto eh armrest next to him and draped it over him and Ocean. "You're lucky I think you're adorable when you're watching a movie you like," 

"Horny impatient bastard," Ocean retorted. "Just be patient, my love," She booped his nose and smiled. She laid her head on his shoulder as the intro to the movie played. Her stomach was filled with butterflies from what just went down. "We should probably change clothes shouldn't we," She sighed. "You want to borrow the same clothes you wore that one time you stayed over?" 

Robert nodded and paused the movie. He stood up from the couch and stretched. He watched Ocean walk into her room and come out around five minutes later in gray sweatpants, black tank top, and her old Universal Studios jacket. In her hands was a large sweater and basketball shorts. Ocean placed the clothes in his hands and he immediately went to change in the bathroom

The two of them spent the night together cuddling on the couch and watching movies

TIME SKIP

8:00 pm

Ocean dragged herself back into her apartment. She had gotten back from dropping off Ryuu to school. She opened her apartment and saw Robert on the couch. "Good morning Robert," She took her shoes off 

"Good morning, beautiful. I made you some coffee," Robert pet the black cat on his lap. "Are you ready for today's show?" He asked her, giving her a small smile. He watched the cat leap off of his lap and onto the floor. He stood up and walked over to Ocean

Ocean picked up the cup of coffee on the counter and took a sip. "I needed that, badly," She let out a relieved sigh before setting the cup back down. "Well, I have to pick up my little brother and drop him and my cat off at my parents' assistant's house before the show starts. So, my day is pretty busy,"

"I'm so glad I got some days off of work," Ocean leaned against the kitchen counter. "And I am very glad you helped me babysit," She whispered in a soft voice. She looked up at him with a smile

"No problem," Robert kissed Ocean's cheek. "Plus, your little brother is adorable. I think he and my nephew would be great friends. Wait. . . Awww that would be adorable if they met," He held his hands over his heart

Ocean let out a short laugh. "That would be adorable!" She took one last sip of her coffee. "I should go shower. I have some more things to do before I pick Ryuu up," She set the mug down and stretched. "Do you still have a change of clothes or do you have to leave?"

"I have a change of clothes and. . ." Robert thought for a moment. He wondered if he should suggest what he was thinking. Maybe the mood from last night was already dead and it would just be awkward to suggest it. He pushed his doubts away and held Ocean's chin with his fingers and kissed her. When he pulled away he said. "We could shower together. . ." He whispered 

His words made Ocean shiver. "U- uh," She stuttered, her cheeks flushed and she felt as if she could just melt away just from his touch. She felt conflicted. Was it okay to do this even if she broke up with Mariah a few months ago? Eventually, her own desires got the best of her"If you know how to keep your hands to yourself," She teased

TIME SKIP

4:00 pm

Ocean walked into the theater with Robert. She sipped on some tea as she and Robert linked pinkies. She felt a little sore from. . . recent events. . . But she managed. She could still do the show. When she got to the dressing rooms, she parted ways with Robert

"Hey, Ocean!" Lauren greeted her when Ocean walked into the dressing room. She gave her a big hug before walking out of the dressing room with her. "I saw your Instagram last night, you and Robert looked adorable!"

Robert followed behind the two. He looked at his phone as he drank some water. He didn't pay attention to the conversation Ocean and Lauren were having in front of him but did pick up some words of the conversation since they weren't exactly quiet about it

"Are you okay? You're walking kinda weird. Did you twist your ankle?" Lauren asked. She was concerned for her friend's well being as well as the show they had in a few hours since they didn't have understudies

"Oh. I'm fine. I'm just a little sore. That's all," Ocean lied. She heard Robert choke on his water behind her. She turned to him. "I worked out with Robert earlier today. And, he may have pushed me a little too hard," She let out a small awkward laugh
