Katie

"Annabeth?" I knocked on the door of the Athena cabin. I had just run away from Travis and I needed advice now.

"Back here!" A voice came from the back. I walked into the back of the main room, finding a small side room.

Walking inside, I called out, "What are you doing?"

"Oh I'm just working on a project...." Annabeth quickly moved in front of a piece of paper; it looked like a collage of pictures of her and Percy. This brought me back to my dilemma.

"I need help."

"You've come to the right place!"

"Well... I need guy help."

"Oh! Okay! I can still help!"

"Thank you so much, but please promise not to tell anybody."

"I swear on the River Styx."

After hearing this, I was satisfied and I spilled my story about Liam to Annabeth. Then I told her how I thought I liked Travis, but why I didn't want to tell him.

"Hmmmm, that's a tough one, but I think I know what we need to do. I'll be right back with someone who can help."

Surprised, I sat down to wait. I knew that I couldn't get in the way of a child of Athena in the middle of a plan. Five minutes later Annabeth reappeared with Connor Stoll in tow. I gasped because I thought he was Travis at first; their resemblance was so similar.

"Tell Connor what you just told me, Katie."

"Okay," I replied and making him swear upon the River Styx not to tell anybody, I repeated my secrets to Connor.

"Forget about that jerk Liam and go tell Travis how you feel about him! I have a hunch that he might feel the same way about you," Connor replied. At first I was estatic! Travis liked me back! That's awe-wait. Oh no. Something that Liam said comes back to me, and what I said back.

Swear upon the River Styx Katie, that you'll never fall in love with anyone else, that you'll stay with me forever.

I swear on the River Styx.

Why had I said that?! That was so stupid. I mentally slap myself in the face while Annabeth and Connor ponder why I had looked happy and then sad.

"Are you not pleased by this news?" asked Connor.

"N-no I'm very happy that Travis feels this way about me. But I was young when I met Liam. I swore upon the River Styx that I would be with him forever," I broke down, tears running down my face.

Annabeth uttered a small shriek and exclaimed, "WHAT? Why would you swear your love to a DRYAD?'

"I'm sorry Katie but I don't think there's anything we can do for this. If you break that promise then-" Conner shuddered, "I don't even want to think about what would happen."

I run out of the cabin, not even looking where I was going as I ran crying through the camp.

Travis

I stood in the woods, dumbfounded as Katie ran away from me. Was I really that repulsive? I decided to climb a tree and think about what had happened, because being isolated up high made me feel better for some reason. As I scanned the camp from the top of my tree, I noticed Katie walking into the Athena cabin. Probably to go get advice, I thought. That's where most kids go when they need help. I hopped nimbly down from my tree and walked, as if connected to a magnet, towards the Athena cabin. Then, all of a sudden, I heard a small shriek and a girl ran crying out of the cabin. She was Katie! I didn't know what I was doing, but I decided to follow her. She ran to the empty part of the beach, where there were the most fish so nobody liked to swim there. My instincts led me over to sit down next to her.

She gasped, "Travis?"

"Hi," I said. I didn't know what was wrong, but I knew that Katie had heard the truth and she didn't like it. Right now she needed to hear words that would make her feel better. "You look like you need a hug."

"Okay fine..." I opened my arms and Katie fell into them.

Suddenly, tears began pouring down Katie's face. I held her as her body racked with sobs.

"Are you sure your okay?" I ask.

"Honestly, I need advice." Katie begins to tell me how she used to like a dryad and swore her love to him. She says that she likes somebody else, and she thinks they like her back, but she can't tell them she likes them because she'll be punished for breaking her promise. I am kind of disappointed to find out that Katie likes somebody else, but she's my friend so I'm going to help her.

"I have an idea Katie. Maybe if we go talk to Chiron, he will grant us a quest and we can go talk to Rachel. She might give us a prophecy, and we can go somewhere or to somebody that can break a swear for us."

"That's a great idea, but romance really isn't so important that we'll get a quest you know."

"Well we have to try."

"Okay let's go talk to Chiron."
