XXIII

1 month.

It has been 1 month since this all happened.

Since the intruders, my self-harm, and my coma.

It's all been... normal.

Justin has been kind to me, we are becoming more and more like a couple. He knows I don't consider us a couple though because he forced me to. He never asked, and I never responded. But either way, we still act like one.

He has taken me to his many warehouses, and I met more of his gang. They were all nice, some a little creepy. But beneath all the piercings and tattoos, I saw that they were kind people who got caught up in the wrong crowd or needed some money like everyone else in this world.

"Baby girl?" I didn't look up from my book.

"Hmmm?" I hummed in response.

"I wanted to know if you wanted to go on a...uh...um...a...ugh... a date with me tonight?" He murmured at the end.

I heard him loud and clear, and already knew my answer, but I decided to mess with him. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear?" I told him.

He looked at me and spoke a little louder, "Would you go on a date with me tonight?"

I giggled and stood up. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his neck and pecked his nose, "What did you think I was gonna say other than yes?"

"No, I hate you, I don't want to go on a date with you, you're ugly, you're annoying, and so on." He mumbled against my neck, nuzzling it.

I laughed and ran my nails through his hair. "Actually, I think the exact opposite of all of that," I whispered to him.

He smiled and kissed my neck before pulling away. "Go get ready, babe, we leave at seven." He told me.

"Wait how do I dress? Fancy or casual?" I asked him.

He chuckled, "I'll lay something out on the bed so we can match. Now go get ready, it is already 5:30."

I widened my eyes and ran into the bathroom, immediately stripping and jumping into the warming shower. I washed my hair and body with my coconut scented things and shaved my legs. I jumped out of the shower and washed my face, throwing my hair into a messy bun. I applied my makeup, only eye makeup. My mom always told me to not use face makeup unless I needed it.

I let my hair down and quickly blew it dry. I glanced at the clock on the wall, 6:20. I hurried and plugged in the hair curler Justin got me.

I curled my hair and combed through them, giving them a wavy look.

I wrapped a robe around me and stepped out of the steamy bathroom. I walked to the bed and saw an outfit laid out on it.

Fancy... Red.

What kind of date does he have planned?

I quickly threw on the clothes, careful with the hair and checked the time. 6:50. I walked to the bathroom and applied more lipstick and check my hair, calming my fly-aways. Just as I stepped back into the room, Justin knocked on the door. I smiled and walked over to it, opening it to see him holding a bouquet of red roses in his hand and a smirk on his face. I smiled and took the roses, smelling them quickly before putting them on the bed.

I see he is dressed in a red button-up shirt and tan pants with, of course, red supras. I smiled, "Well don't you look handsome."

He blushed. Actually blushed. "Well my love, you look even more gorgeous every second that passes by." He said pecking my nose, causing me to turn scarlet. He chuckled and tapped my cheeks.

He grabbed my hand gently, but tightly, and led me through the house to the garage. He pulled me to his red Mustang.

What's with all the red?

He walked around to the car to the passenger side door and opened it up, helping me in before pecking my cheek. He jogged around to his side and climbed in with ease, turned on the car, and swiftly made his way to the highway that leads to the hills.

"We are going to the hills?" I questioned. The hills here are yellow and dead, and there are white rocks in the shape of a letter to represent the town.

He chuckled, "Of course not. That isn't much of a first date... I am taking you to the mountains." He told me.

I smiled, I love the wilderness. I turned on the radio and heard the song "Amsterdam" by Imagine Dragons come on.

I quietly sang along to the song but belted the chorus. I felt Justin grab my hand and I look over at him to see he has a smile on his face.

"You have a pretty voice," Justin said.

I shrugged, "Not really." I responded.

He gawked at me, "That voice is perfect! You could be a singer if you wanted, baby girl. I'm sure you would have millions of fans." He told me.

I giggled, blushing at his compliments. He rubbed his thumb over my knuckles and I smiled. I always wanted my boyfriend to do that, I always wanted an emotional yet physical relationship.

Suddenly, Justin pulled to a stop on a cliff that looked over the city. He let go of my hand and jogged around the car, only to come to my side and hold my hand again, helping me out of the car. He walked to the back of the car and grabbed a picnic basket then walked into the trees.

I soon saw that we were in a meadow. There was a red checkered blanket all the way in the center of the meadow and he helped me walk through it because of my heels. (He knows how self-conscious I am about my height). When we reached it, we sat down and he opened the basket to reveal some sandwiches and mini dr.pepper bottles. I giggled, then laughed for a while. His failed attempts to be romantic are so cute. I grabbed a sandwich and ate it, savoring his amazing cooking skills... even though these weren't cooked.

The rest of the night we laughed and got to know more about each other. Somewhere through it all, we ended up cuddling underneath a second red blanket looking at the stars.

"There is the big dipper," I said pointing to it.

He chuckled and rubbed my arm, "There is the little dipper right there!" Justin said pointing.

Suddenly, there was a shooting star, "Make a wish baby." He told me.

I giggled, "Hmmm... I wish for... a good life. I just want everything to be okay and every problem solved before I die." He sighed and rubbed my arm again. "What about you Justin?" I asked him.

He sat up and brought me onto his lap straddling him. "I wish for one thing, and that is for you to be my girlfriend, willingly. I don't like thinking about how I forced you to be my girlfriend. So, Selena, will you be my girlfriend? Willingly?" He asked.

I giggled and kissed his nose, "Of course, Justin." I mumbled against his lips. He connected them in a passionate kiss while gripping my hips. He sighed in content.

"One more question?" I asked him.

"Shoot it at me," he responded laying down with me still on top of him.

"What is with all the red tonight?" I asked.

"Red is the color of love, and that is all I feel for you. Plus, I really liked themed dates." He chuckled kissing my nose, down to my lips, pecking me.

I giggled, "I love you too Justin."
