Blaze's Dark Secret

Blaze and Y/n have returned to Gardenia for their vacation. They're really happy to see their families again.
Vanessa is threatened by two mysterious characters, but Y/n is able to defend her, thanks to the skills she has learned at Alfea.
Blaze has discovered some upsetting things about his past and is filled with doubts now. Not only about his parents, but the confusion between feelings for Y/n, his childhood best friend, and Brenda, the blonde Specialist.

-

"Come on, Mirta, I've asked you a simple question."

Mirta fidgeted with her hands, looking everywhere but at the professor. "On the - um - on the first night of the full moon we shouldn't cast spells of transformation because...light rays from the moon can create negative interference which...could cause unwanted and permanent changes?" she stuttered nervously.

"Very good. But you sounded a little hesitant. A good witch needs to be confident," Ms. Griffin reminded her. Shyly, she took a seat while Lunilla giggled at Lucy.

"She's hideous."

-

"Well done, Y/n. You get an A. Blaze, it's your turn."

Blaze was already transformed, his eyes on the rose in the bubble. He flew up to get it, dodging the lights that flashed at him. He managed to grab the rose and weave in and out of the lights. He brought it down to the pedestal before a giant blob floated over him, ready to drop. He screamed before shooting at it, blowing it up and safely being able to place the flower down. His friends cheered, Tecna and Y/n high-fiveing each other.

"Settle down, girls. Excellent performance, Blaze. Return to your seat. Next, please."

-

"And since I'm so pretty, he let me past and..." She stopped when she saw Blaze poking at his ice cream with his spoon, not listening. "Blaze? What's wrong? Is it something I said?"

A waiter then came up to the table, refilling Blaze's glass. "More water?" he asked in a gruff voice, refusing to look at either of them.

"Yes, thanks." He drank half of it, then looked back at Brenda to answer. "It's not you, Brenda. I was just thinking about my parents. It's just that I feel so insecure...there are..." He rubbed his temples, a migraine suddenly coming on. "So many questions left unanswered...the only thing I feel sure of right now..." His hand reached for hers, going over it as their eyes met, his words slowing down. "Is you."

She looked at his hand on hers, unsure if she should pull away. "Well then, let's see if we can answer some of your questions."

"You'll help me?" he asked with a small slur. "Thank you...but, thing is, I think the answers may be found at Cloud Tower. If only I could have access to their archives..."

"Well, shouldn't be too hard." She finally took her hand away, wiping it on her skirt. "If you want, I can give you a hand."

"Really? You would do that for me?" he asked shyly, glancing away.

"Hey, what are friends for?"

-

The waiter went out back and shed his disguise. Concentrating, he began to telepathically communicate.

"Darcy..."

"Riven. Darling..."

"I've got something for you. The pixie is coming to Cloud Tower tonight."

"Well, we'll make sure to have a wonderful welcome waiting..."

-

Blaze rolled over, still awake, facing the window. All that had been on his mind all that afternoon was Brenda. Brenda Brenda Brenda Brenda Brenda Brenda Bren

He got up to answer a knock on his window, careful not to wake up Sūn. Opening it, as it his prayers had been answered, there was Brenda on her hoverbike. "Hey."

"Brenda...!"

"Sorry if I scared you. I had to sneak in."

"You didn't scare me at all..." he whispered. When he looked down, he realized he was still in his pajamas.

"We have to hurry. Hop on. A round trip to Cloud Tower will take a while. We'd better get a move on. Anyway, why put off till tomorrow what you can do today, right?"

"Mind if I get a shirt on?" he asked first. That was when Brenda noticed, her face scarlet.

"Um...no, not at all..."

Blaze went back in and began to rummage through his drawers, the door creaking open. There was Y/n, already dressed. "Brenda texted. I'm going with."

"There's really no need," he tried to tell her, hoping to get her to go away. That night with Brenda was best spent alone with her...

"Uh-uh. My best friend isn't dying tonight."

"Fine, whatever. But there's no room."

"Fine. You transform and I'll ride with her."

He narrowed his eyes, pulling the t-shirt over his head. "No. I'll ride with her. You transform." And he was already back on the balcony and climbing onto the bike before Y/n could protest.

-

Lucy? Please, can we talk?
Lucy, please.
We can work this out.
We're just having problems.
I'm here for you.
Those bitches don't know what they're talking about.
You're SO beautiful.
I wish you could see that.
You've changed, though...
I don't even recognize my own girlfriend.
Honey...
Why are you doing this to me?

You obviously didn't understand the first time, so let me give it to you straight.
I. Don't. Want. To. Be. With. You.
Now quit spamming my inbox, Mirta, Jesus Christ.

But Lucy...
Urgh! I feel like I'm losing my girlfriend to a bunch of BIMBOS!
I've loved you forever.
Whether you want to date me or not, I won't let you go down the wrong path.
Look, baby, they're toxic. Can't you see that?
Lucy, I'm going to save you. I promise.

The first thing Y/n saw when she caught up with Blaze and Brenda was a sudden crash of her bike on the side of Cloud Tower and Blaze sitting by the edge, about to fall off. She flew over and stabilized him by the shoulders. "Blaze! Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

"No, believe it or not, I'm not," he insisted.

Once Brenda came over, Y/n instantly turned on her. "You could've killed him! What were you thinking?!" are we just above the ground, hovering over her threateningly.

"Y/n, it was an accident," he insisted, pulling her away. "Come on or you'll push us all off the roof."

-

"This is it." Blaze put his hand out, reaching. "The archives are right behind that door."

"Blaze, think and it. Are you sure you want to do this?" Brenda asked, holding him back.

"I need to know the truth, Brenda."

They went in, the room more organized than last time they had been there. "Things have changed since I was here. I'm not sure where to look."

Y/n had already flown to a book, hovering over it. "I'd start here. I studied on the Lost Books. Anything you wanna know, the book will tell you."

He stepped up to it, putting his hand on it. "I want to know who I really am."

-

Three witches appeared over a frozen planet, cackling. Blaze came out of the fire from them as a baby, rapidly turning into his teenage form, transformed, but his outfit black and hair spikier. One of the snowflakes was ripped into two, one male and one female: Y/n. His fire melted them both immediately.

-

He gasped, pulling his hand away, looking at Y/n desperately, tears flooding his eyes. "Y/n?"

"Blaze? What's wrong?" She immediately put her hand on his shoulder, pulling him to her. "Tell me. What did you see?"

"I...I don't think you want to hear it...it...it's too horrible...!"

"Blaze. Whatever it is, you can tell me. You can tell us." She took his hand while Brenda took another.

"Okay...I...I'm the incarnation of the three primeval witches. As soon as I become a true fairy, they'll take possession of me...and I'll hurt you, Y/n!"

Brenda let go, backing away. "No! You? The - the evil ancestors? It can't be..."

Y/n kept his hand, bringing him into a hug, his head on her chest and his knees beginning to buckle. "Please...you have to help me...Y/n, Brenda, please."

But Brenda could only lower her head, letting the hair curtain her face.

"Brenda...?"

"This isn't your fault, Blaze," Y/n said, glaring at Brenda as Blaze pulled away from her.

"Brenda, what can I say?" he begged her. "I didn't want this, it's just...it's my fate." He moved away from them, afraid for either of them to touch him. "But if my powers are evil, I won't use them anymore."

Brenda went to put her hand on his shoulder, but stopped suddenly, slowly dropping it.

"Please, take me back to Alfea..."

Y/n nodded at her and took Blaze's shoulders, despite his protests, guiding him out.

-

All Stella wanted to do was her hair. That was it. But of course, even though she had made it clear that eight to nine in the morning was hair hour, someone was already knocking at her door. "Ugh! Coming!"

More knocking, continuously with no signs of stopping anytime soon.

"Yes, yes, I'm coming!" She opened the door to a distressed Y/n. "Am I that late?"

"Stella, this is serious," she insisted, inviting herself in. "Blaze isn't here!"

"Really? But weren't you with him last night?"

"He wanted to stay outside for awhile, so I came in, but..." She sat on her bed, fighting off tears of worry.

Tecna, Musa, and Flora simultaneously came in, all in a panic.

"We've looked everywhere! He's nowhere to be found!"

"We just got off the phone with Brenda."

"She said she brought him and Y/n back last night, but the thing is, he never entered the building."

"Oh, god!" Y/n brought her hands up to her face, beginning to sob hysterically. "He thinks he's evil! That's why he left! Oh my god, the forest! What if he's lost in there?!"

Being the closest to her, Stella sat next to her and put her arms around her. "I'm sure Blaze is fine. He has some of the strongest magic I've seen."

"Either way, we've got to go and look for him," Musa insisted.

-

"According to my emo-images, I shouldn't be too far..." Mirta said as she walked along the path of the forest, looking intently at her phone.

"Wait up, Kiko, you'll get lost."

Hearing a masculine voice, Mirta hid behind a tree, letting the moment of silence wash over her, feeling a sense of triumph that she had not been called out.

"I can see you hiding back there," the same voice said. Embarrassed, she let herself be fully seen by the fairy, who looked at her suspiciously. "Who are you?"

"Hi, um...I'm Mirta."

"Hi, my name is Blaze."

"I know."

He took an involuntary step back, raising a brow. "You do?"

"I've been looking for you. There's something very important you need to know: the Trix have tricked you!"

His eyes widened at first in horror, but they quickly regained their usual look, his expression bordering between unsurprised and annoyance. "Goddamnit."

-

Stella jumped around with peace signs, then threw her hands up with a huge smile.
Blue wristbands formed on her arms, followed by long orange boots and a headband that matched the bands. Her clothes were then changed to an orange tube top with one strap and short-shorts while her wings formed behind her.
Her eyes narrowed, then squinted. Letting out a cry, she spun around, her hair pinning itself into twintails with long, dark orange hairbands. She took a few steps back while her wings came into place and placed her hand behind her head, smiling fashionably.

-

Y/n let out a battle cry before putting out her arms.
Light blue armbands appeared, followed by tall boots. White and blue energy surrounded her body as she leaned back, her arm out and her face twisted in concentration, and gave her a darker top than hung loosely on her shoulders and a skirt.
Her head jerked up and a blue choker appeared with a diamond in the middle while blue - yet transparent - wings appeared behind her. She jolted back and landed on her feet, her arms held out in front of her as if she were about to shoot an energy beam.

-

Tecna chopped and punched at the air with her arms, then knelt on one knee, arms crossed in peace signs, emitting an energy from them.
Her hands went into a fist, a sleeve appearing on her arm with digital accompaniment. The same happened at her torso, a lavender bodysuit and high-heeled boots appearing, then with her pendant and wings, which were instead bars that wrapped around themselves. Finally, a matching helmet was placed on her head.
She opened her eyes, a glider coming out of the bars and letting her fly back, then dissipating when she landed, her hands on her hips.

-

The tiles under Musa lit up as she stepped on them. She twirled on the dance floor while they twinkled, then crossed her arms with peace signs.
Red boots appeared out of purple pixels. She threw up her hands, a red top with one strap coming in as the boots did with a thin pink cloth in between, covering her stomach.
She kicked her feet up while a music disk spun under her and her wings and a pair of headphones appeared, then stood on one foot, spinning around with the disk.

-

Flora tilted her head back as her body fell back, her hair blowing around her head. She crossed her hands above her head in peace signs.
A sparkly pink dress appeared with lighter petals for a skirt, followed by pink heels. A green choker appeared on her neck, followed by a flower on her chest. Instead of wristbands, long petals came onto her arms, the petal being the longer bit in the back.
She gave a small grin and spun around, putting her arms up while green translucent wings clipped to her back in a burst of a flower.

-

"Okay, so which was are we going?" Stella asked.

"Easy," Flora cheerfully replied. "Something has seen Bloom walk through here, and we're standing right on it." She looked down, her curtain bangs falling over her eyes, blonde highlights glowing in the late sunrise. "Golden Pollen!"

The Winx watched the pollen swirl around and leaned to where it was heading. Tecna leaned against Stella, who had her chin on Y/n's shoulder. In the back, Musa let herself levitate to see. The pollen ended up creating an arrow pointing east. "Look, everybody! Blaze went that way! Grassy fields have an excellent memory."

"I'll generate an Ultrasonic Wave to probe the area," Musa offered and strained herself to listen out, letting Blaze's sounds come to her.

"Air-synch it over to me," Tecna said. "I'll analyze it."

Mysa reached her hand out and let Tecna read it, generating a map in her hand with a small dot in the middle of the trees. "Alright, got it. I'll get the coordinates."

"No need," Y/n said, eyes closed as she listened into the forest. "I can sense his life-force. I'll guide you to him."

Stella began to laugh, practically jumping around like a child who had been given candy. "Now it's my turn to put in my two cents worth through my sparkling beauty and sunny disposition!" Flora rolled her eyes as Stella nudged up against Tecna, who was trying to inch away from her, looking quite uncomfortable. "We shall see the light!"

"You done yet?"

"Stella, come on," Y/n prompted, tapping her foot impatiently. "Blaze is all alone in the Dark Forest. Help us out a little!"

"But of course. Rising Sun!" She lifted herself up and let the light emit from her all throughout the forest, the fairies flying up to her. "I'm shining light all over the whole dark forest. See, I do have good ideas once in a while. I knew you would need my help one of these days. I'm so beautiful and totally essential! Lead the way, Y/n!" She flew up, the others laughing at her.

-

"You understand, Blaze? It was just a cruel trick."

"I'm so confused...who am I, then? Why do I possess these powers?"

Mirta went to answer, but was caught by a shadow looming over Blaze, too afraid to speak. "Oh, you want to know why you have these powers, do you? Well, they'll soon be ours, so you won't have to worry about it much longer." Icy grinned at them maliciously, Blaze standing to defend Mirta. "Ah, I see you've got company. The little witch who transforms emotions into images. How many girls do you need, Blaze? Y/n, Brenda...your little harem of cutesy fairies..."

"Shut up," he growled, hand in front of the witch.

"You're mean!" Mirta yelled at her, feeling tears in her eyes. "You took my girlfriend!"

"Ugh, don't tell me you think I'd ever be interested in a loser like her. You two make a perfect couple...a couple of losers!"

Tears streamed down her face as her fists balled. "I. Want. Her. BACK!" she screamed and a light flashed around her, wind whipping Blaze's hair around and even the Trix's. Mirta emerged from the red light in her witch form in a red suit with her first initial on the front, eyeshadow, and heeled boots.

"Oh, look at that. Little Mirta's gonna fight for her true love."

"Disgusting."

"Pathetic."

Darcy already had purple energy surrounding her, eyes flashing. "The Queen of Illusion vs. Abracadabra. This should be interesting."

But before any kind of fight began, the Winx had shown up, Musa already backing away from Mirta.

Stella hit Icy, yelling, "Leave them alone!"

"Oh, you pesky little gnats, I hate you!" Icy screamed at them.

"Chill out, sister, I'll settle your score in a minute." Stormy caused two tornadoes to swirl around the Winx, bringing them in the middle of them, tied up.

"No!"

-

Blaze spun in a circle with his hands up, twirling.
He clapped and crossed his hands, arm bands appearing and sleeves coming from his undershirt. With his hands held out, another shirt came in, this one only covering his top and with a yellow pendant on his chest. His pants and boots appeared along with it.
He turned his head and his wings appeared. Straightening, a small crown was placed on his head that matched the pendant. He flew up and landed on his feet, one hand on his hips as his eyes narrowed.

-

As soon as Blaze went to stack, Stormy used a free hand to smack him down, taking his strength. The Trix laughed when he tried to get up, struggling to use his hands to help push him up.

"Blaze!" Mirta cried, reaching out for him. She looked at the fairies, all struggling to get free, feeling her anger resurface. Behind the Trix, she created an illusion of a monster, screaming in their faces. Laughs were turned to screams and the tornadoes vanished, the girls freed from their bonds.

"She broke my concentration!" Stormy cried.

"I can't believe you fell for a freshman trick," Darcy snickered behind her hand. "So sad."

"RRRRRGH!"

"That's it, Mirta, I've had it with you!" Icy screamed, her face twisting into an ugly, distorted look. Mirta still stood against her with a fierce look. "Everything about you is annoying me right now: your stupid tricks, your good attitude, that stupid t-shirt you were wearing with that stupid pumpkin...pumpkin?" She smirked, raising her hands. "You like pumpkins so much, maybe you'd like to be one!"

She tried to back away, but Icy let her powers loose on her, instantly turning her into a pumpkin.

Seeing his new friend in this state, Blaze crossed his arms and let out a yell, a red dragon coming out of him and circling around the witches, making them disappear. The power made us Winx turn back to normal and fall on the ground.

Pépé, who was fighting Kiko, stopped when he realized Icy was gone. "Mommy!" he cried, running off.

"Hey, we're back to normal!"

"That was an amazing burst of power! Where's Blaze?"

"Not again!" Stella cried, face-planting into the ground.

"Hello? I'm over here!" Blaze waved his hand from the bush and the Winx ran over to get him out. Y/n took him into her arms, checking for any bruises. "Great to see you again, girls. I think I sent those witches to another dimension."

Flora was bent over Mirta, picking her up. "Who's the pumpkin?"

"That's Mirta. She helped me."

"There's nothing we can do for her right now. Icy's spell was black magic."

"Maybe we can find a way to break that spell?" Musa suggested.

-

Mirta?
Listen, if you wanna talk, we can talk.
I prob wasn't reasonable.
Lotta stress, you know? Social stress I mean so
But I'm sorry. It was a shitty thing.
Mirta?
You're mad, aren't you?
I get it. Text me when you can.

-

"Goodnight, Blaze..." Y/n whispered, her eyes red while she sat at the end of his bed. She got up and walked back to her dorm, finding Flora already asleep. She got into her bed under the blankets and began to sob as quietly as she could.

-

In the next chapter, Blaze is confused by all the things that have changed in his life. He needs to speak to someone with experience who will understand him. It can't be Y/n, who seems to be getting more and more distressed.
Faragonda will reveal new details about his past, and Daphne the mysterious voice that he hears more and more.
An envelope that Wizgiz has lost containing answers to an exam will turn into a tempting opportunity.
