"So, how long are you home for? How many days off did the school give you?" Vanessa asked Blaze as she stirred what was in the pot.
Y/n walked by and took one of the carrots that Blaze had cut. "One week."
She turned to Y/n and gave her a warm smile. "I'm so glad you and Spencer are staying for that time. We all missed being all together since you two have left."
Seeing Blaze slowly cut, she took the knife to chop faster. "Home economics isn't your best subject, is it?"
"Hey, it's not Y/n's, either," he defended.
She threw her hands up defensively. "I'm not the one who made a rap about an omelette!"
"I...beg your pardon, dear?" Vanessa hesitantly asked. "An omelette?"
"Yeah, we have this friend who's really into music. She -"
Blaze cut her off, sniffing the air. "Mom, do you smell something burning?"
By instinct, Vanessa turned to the oven, gasping at the fire that had engulfed it. "Oh, my! What a disaster!"
She reached for a dishtowel, but Blaze grabbed her wrist. "Mom, no. Let me do it." He put his hand out and stopped the fire, only letting it flicker. Y/n stepped up and put out her hand.
"Y/n!"
"Don't worry, Mrs. Peterson, I know what I'm doing." While Blaze held it, she let forth a shower of ice crystals, freezing it over. Blaze them absorbed the fire in his hand without having to worry about the constant burning.
Vanessa collapsed in the chair, panting. Blaze put his hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"You both are amazing..."
"We only saved the kitchen," Y/n insisted.
"You may not be a very good cook, but your powers are stunning."
Blaze leaned over to give her a hug. "In all seriousness, Alfea doesn't offer home ec. classes. But on the other hand, it's a great school for fairies."
Y/n was already at the phone, a menu in hand. "Pizza, anyone?"
"Please!" Blaze exclaimed, jumping off his mother and running over to take a look at the menu. "That's literally all I've wanted since we enrolled at Alfea."
-
"HELLO, GARDENIA!" Y/n yelled, peddling through the town while Blaze struggled to keep up. "I missed you and all you beautiful faces!"
"Y/n, seriously, slow down!" Blaze yelled, pumping his legs harder.
"LOOK NO HANDS!" She let go of the handlebars, nearly crashing into a tree. "I'M KING OF THE WORLD -"
"More like King of the Losers." Mitzi did a strut down her porch, her hand on her hip as she looked at Y/n through her glasses. "Andy's been asking about you. Where have you and your new little boy-toy been?"
Blaze skirted over, leaving skid marks by the house. "Tell Andy we've been humping nightly."
"No, please don't tell him that." She turned back to Mitzi and said, "We transferred schools, that's all. To a private school."
"Why? Gardenia Highschool was too difficult for you? Where did you get sent off to, anyways? To a school for slow learners?"
"No, a school for exceptional kids. Where was your invite?" Y/n asked innocently, then got back on her bike. "See ya, Shitzi."
"Hey!"
Blaze sarcastically smiled at her. "Fuck you, Mitzi," he said before peddling after Y/n.
-
"Tree?" Blaze asked with a small smile.
"Sure, but no ogres, please."
They crossed the street on their bike, Y/n stopping in the middle of the road when she saw a ghost-like figure floating above a man, smelling some nearby roses. "What in the name of Boreas...?"
A car slammed on its breaks in front of her. Y/n screamed when she heard the loud honking, then saw a red ghost angrily glaring at her. "Are you trying to get killed, girly?!"
"Sorry..."
Blaze looked back to see the commotion and, seeing Y/n by the car, he pulled her away, letting her drag her bike.
-
Later that afternoon, both teens peddled back to the flower shop, passing a man in a car, looking at them suspiciously, where Vanessa was talking to two men. Seeing them come in, she smiled and waved them over. "Ah, Blaze, Y/n, come here. This is my son, Blaze, and his friend, Y/n. And this is Mr. Bonner and Mr. Brown, my future business partners."
Both men nodded in acknowledgement. "Hello. How do you do?"
"Nice to meet you both," Y/n replied.
Blaze pulled Vanessa near him and whispered, "Business partners?"
Vanessa brought her voice up so that all could hear her. "As of tomorrow, your mother is about to become the co-owner of a chain of flower shops. Of course, Spencer will still be on as my interior designer and I'll need yours and Y/n's help when you can, but..."
Y/n studied the men as the background chatter melted away as she saw their inner auras begin to speak:
"And here's another poor sucker falling head first into our trap."
"She has no idea what's awaiting her."
"As soon as the deal's signed, we'll kick her out of this pathetic flower shop and build a supermarket."
"Keep the guy on? He's an idiot. He'll only drag us down."
She kept her mouth shut as the two men left. "Well, then, see you tomorrow," Vanessa called after them.
"Yeah, see you."
"So," Vanessa began once they were gone as Blaze helped to unpack a box of flowers. "What do you think of your mother as a businesswoman?"
"Congrats, Mom," was all he said as he arranged the flowers.
"Uh, Mrs. Peterson?" Y/n began nervously, twiddling her fingers. "Where did you find these guys?"
"Oh, they found the shop, dear. They work for a very large company."
"Oh...cool." She took some of the flowers and began to help Blaze.
"Sweetie?" Vanessa put her hand on Y/n's shoulder, making her turn to her. "What's wrong?"
"I..." She looked away, sighing. "Today, I saw what people were really thinking. Like their auras. And this Mr. Boner and Mr. Fecal Matter? They're trying to trick you, fire Spencer."
"What?" She withdraw her hand, going to her mouth in shock. "But they seem like two people who really know what they're doing."
"They're con-men."
"Well, how can I be sure?"
"Just trust me, please. That's all I ask."
They had a honk outside and saw Mr. Brown waving to them.
Still looking out the window, Blaze said, "I trust you."
-
"This isn't over by a LONG-SHOT!" Blaze slammed his bedroom door, where Y/n was reading. Seeing her sitting there, he flatly said, "You have a weird habit with reading in other people's rooms."
"As I told Musa, I was waiting for Tecna," she said, eyes still in the book. "What's wrong?"
Blaze sat down at his desk, beginning to absently sketch. "Nothing. Mom called those con-artists back over and...well, their true colors were shown." He started with the face, then h/l hair. "One of them broke a vase...I fixed it, but I'm still pissed. I suggested sueing. Spencer was stocking the shelves, so we have a witness."
"That's nice." She closed the book and peered at the drawing from being, Blaze not noticing. "Hey, my head isn't that big."
He covered it quickly with his arms, looking up at her, embarrassed. "It - it wasn't you, it was...um...just a character?"
Her arms went around his shoulders as she rested her chin on one. Blaze looked back at his paper, furiously trying not to stare. "Wanna try a different excuse, buddy?"
-
And I'm home
Blaze and Y/n spent the rest of the day in their bikes, Y/n, like always, out-peddling him. They mostly stopped by the tree in the park, but on one particularly hot day, by the ice cream shop.
-
Kiko ran up Blaze's bed. He reached for him, falling flat on his face on the mattress. Y/n jumped on top of him, Blaze instantly turning around to tackle her on the bed.
-
Whenever I'm with you,
Both families went to see a film one evening, Blaze hogging all the snacks, although he later tried to blame it on Kiko.
-
My heart is spinning round
On one pizza night, Y/n took her slice and shoved it into Spencer's mouth, who proceeded to nearly choke. Mike panicked at this, attempting to push it out of him, only to realize it had not yet gone into his throat.
-
Y/n took a mattress on the floor by Blaze's bed and slept there for the week, his hand nearly always draping over to her head. Mike, Vanessa, and Spencer watched them sleep, Vanessa on Mike's chest, giggling.
-
While Y/n swept the shop, she heard the sound of smashed glass and saw that it was the window. Sighing, she moved over to it and began to sweep it up.
Wordlessly, Blaze came over and picked up the brick lying on the floor. He turned it into a sponge and swiped it over the window, instantly repairing it, then walked away.
-
"Hey, sorry I'm late, I -" Her words were cut short at the sight of the flower shop. "Oh. My. Frostbite."
Vanessa picked up a rose with a heavy sigh. "I don't suppose either of you have a spell for this?" she asked weakly.
"No...but I can text Flora." Y/n took out her cellphone, rapidly typing.
"It was Boner and Fecal Matter," Blaze instantly said, pushing the buttons on the cash register. "Look. All the money's here." He held up the wad and compared it to their notes from the night before.
"No duh," Y/n replied, looking at her screen in wait. "Auras never lie, Blaze. And I saw their auras."
-
"Shop...Mother's shop...it's...on..."
'Y/n, wake up! Emergency!'
"FIRE!"
If Y/n had been on a proper bed, she would have fallen off. "Blaze, what the...?"
The lights turned on and Mike and Vanessa were standing in the doorway. "Blaze!" Vanessa cried. "You were shouting!"
Mike bent over him, trying to comfort him with his hand on his head. "Is everything okay? Did you have a nightmare."
"No, I had a vision. We have to go to the shop. Something's happening!" He threw the blanket to the ground and over Y/n by accident, who scrambled up.
"Blaze, wait. It was probably just a nightmare, okay? Everything is fine."
"Nothing is fine!" he insisted before seeing her pajamas. "And put something on over that! I can see your...you know."
She looked down, squeaked, and took the first hoodie from his closet that she found.
-
There's a feeling in my heart
Not a dream, but a reality
Time alone standing in my way;
Rushing, running 'cross the sky
With my courage and my force,
I defeat the evil of my enemies
My magic will win for good!
-
"And please try to get here ASAP. The situation is already very serious."
The shop was already up in flames and mostly destroyed. Vanessa stepped into the road, watching it with watery eyes. "How can this be?" she sniffled. "Oh, Mike..." She leaned into his embrace, her face buried in his chest.
"My men will be here soon, sweetheart," he told her, stroking her hair. "Don't worry. The fire will son be put out, you'll see."
Blaze was already stepping up, insisting, "Soon might be too late! We have to act now!"
He walked towards the damage until Mike caught his arm. "Blaze, no. My men are on their way."
"Blaze, you can't go," Y/n insisted. "What if you get hurt?"
"I won't, Y/n. Trust me, I'm a fairy. I've got this."
"Well, then..." She looked at her palm, allowing small snowflakes to fall from it. "I am, too. So I'm going with you."
"Not without me," Mike insisted.
-
While Blaze shielded them from the fire, Y/n shot at bits of it with her magic to put it out. "I'll be done with most of the damage soon. I just need you to keep this barrier up, okay?"
"Yeah. Let's move towards the middle of the room."
"Are you afraid?" Mike asked, but Blaze was surveying the damage, the fire burning his eyes to an amber brown.
"No."
-
"Hey!" Mike called over the sound of a gushing hose. "There's a baby in there!"
He ran in, directed by the cries of the infant. In one of the rooms was a little boy with a barrier around him. He stopped crying the minute he saw Mike and babbled, reaching out to him. He bent over and picked him up, the shield disappearing. "Don't be afraid, little boy. You're in my arms now."
He smiled and cooed, reaching up for Mike's face.
-
"Blaze!" Y/n yelled for his attention. "Listen!"
"Help! Somebody, help!" The yells died off with coughing, another voice picking it up.
"Help us, please!"
While Blaze kept the barrier up, Y/n used snow to put out the fire, revealing two men on the ground. "Spencer!" She reached out her hands for them to take.
As they got up, Blaze spoke up. "Dad, I've seen this man before. He's Mr. Brown and Mr. Bonner's driver."
Mike grabbed the driver by the shoulders, staggering him out. "Stay calm, sir. We'll help you."
"Thank you..."
Y/n began to do the same with Spencer, but stopped to take another look back at Blaze. He glanced back, then focused again on the fire. "You get him out of here, Y/n. I'll take care of everything."
"Don't die," was all that she said before disappearing with her brother into the smoke. As Blaze finished putting out the fire, the trucks finally showed up, sirens wailing in the night.
-
"I don't know how to thank you," the driver said, voice gruff, sitting by the truck next to Spencer as Vanessa handed him a flask of water. "You saved my life."
"What were you doing in the shop?" Blaze asked, the man downing the drink.
"Bastard tried to kill me," Spencer said blankly, still staring out in shock.
"No!" He pulled the flask away, trying to explain. "Mr. Brown and Mr. Bonner sent me here to start the fire, so I broke in before I had a change of heart. This young man here was cleaning up and saw me and fought me for the match. It slipped out of my hands and we got caught in the flames." Guiltily, he added to Vanessa, "You didn't want to sign the contract and so they wanted to teach you a lesson, see?"
"You could've killed my brother," Y/n growled, her fist clenching. Blue energy began to spark in her hand, although nobody else saw it.
"I know and I'm sorry. I'll go with the police, but I'm not gonna take all the blame. I'll tell the police the whole story, I'll tell them everything about Brown and Bonner and how they scam and threaten people in order to take over their businesses. Then they turn these small shops into something more profitable, like a supermarket. Believe me, I'm sorry."
The energy began to fade and her eyes softened. "I know." Her fist lowered, eyes still on the distressed aura of the man. "I can see that."
-
"With the money I'll get from the insurance, I'll be able to make the shop even bigger than it was."
"And we'll get the best alarm system money can buy."
"I'm sure we will."
"Hey, don't make fun of me. I worry about you."
"I know, I know."
Y/n reached for Blaze's plate, where his sandwich still remained, silently bringing it to take a bite.
"Y/n, don't eat that," Mike immediately said, the girl pouting. "You have your own."
But Vanessa furrowed her brow in concern when she saw Blaze zoning out still. "Honey, is there something bothering you?"
"Yes, Mom, there is something." He stood up, pacing the kitchen. "During the fire, I had a sort of...vision. I saw you, Dad, saving a newborn baby from a fire."
Vanessa and Mike shared a look, one that killed the mood instantly.
"What? What is it? What did I say?"
Vanessa offered him, opting instead to say, "Yes, Mike...I think its time we told him. He needs to know."
Y/n got up, pushing her chair back so that it toppled. "I'm gonna go check on Spencer. He's been totally out of it since the fire." She practically ran out, stumbling in her hurry.
"Mom...? What do I need to know?"
"The truth, son," Mike answered. "That baby you saw? That baby...was you." His fist came down on the table. "Sixteen years ago, I saved you from a fire."
"A - a fire?" He leaned across the table. "But how did I end up in a fire?"
"We have no idea. Your father found you there."
"It was a true miracle. The flames were, like, keeping away from you. It was as if the fire respected you and protected you. I don't know how you got in that building but you were all alone. And yet, Blaze, you were so calm."
"We knew right then and there that you were a very special child."
His mouth fell open, Blaze still frozen across the table. He had not even felt the tears that filled his eyes until he blinked and let them run down. "Then...that means..." His voice broke as he got up, shrinking away from them. "I'm not your real son!" Vanessa rushed to put her arm around him, but he pulled away, still talking. "You adopted me. Why didn't you ever tell me?"
"We were going to, Blaze," Mike tried to tell him, getting up. "We always intended to tell you the truth as soon as you were old enough to understand, but then everything changed: fairies, ogres, magic realms, I mean everything became so crazy, especially on top of girls and growing up and then there was no time for anything anymore."
Vanessa tilted his head up, hands on his cheeks. "We never wanted to hide anything from you, Blaze. You are the most important person in our lives." She held him close, his arms wrapping around her waist. "You're everything to us, Blaze. We've loved you from the very start. We could never stop loving you."
Mike joined in the hug, adding, "Sweetheart, we love you very much."
"I love you, too, and to me, you'll always be the best parents in the world."
-
Mike held toy dangling in front of Blaze in his crib, Blaze reaching out for it. Vanessa stood by the crib, laughing.
-
Both parents stood over Blaze while he drank from his bottle.
-
Blaze leaned over the birthday cake in front of him to blow out the candle while Y/n tried to discreetly take a piece of the cake.
-
Y/n had smashed a Christmas present open with her face, Blaze laughing at her on his back.
-
Y/n forced Blaze to hold her baby doll and play parents while his parents and Spencer watched, Spencer raising his eyebrows suggestively.
-
On the first day of school, both kids sat next to each other on the bus, staying away from the other kids.
-
Both families went to the park together, Y/n dragging Blaze into hopscotch.
-
Blaze and Y/n teamed up together in the ocean to have a splash fight with Mike and Spencer.
-
Now as preteens, Blaze had fallen on his butt while trying to roller skate, Y/n having to pick him up by the shoulders and steady him as they went again.
-
Y/n jumped on Blaze in a hug. He spun her around, her head in his shoulder.
-
"Remember to go to therapy. No, that's not a suggestion, it's an order. ...K. Love you, too. Bye." Y/n turned off her phone and saw Blaze, still lying on the bed, looking dangerously close to tears. "Oh, Blaze. Come on. Have you eaten at all today?" she asked, sitting beside him, rubbing his head. At that time, the other girls came into his room, all looking concerned.
"Cheer up, Blaze," Musa said as she crossed the room to sit by him on the floor.
Flora sat at his feet, adding, "Musa's right. What happened to you is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Adopting a baby is a great act of unselfish love."
"Totally logical," Tecna nodded.
"They're still your parents, Blaze," Y/n tried to reassure him.
"I know, Y/n. And I know they're amazing." But still, he sighed.
Stella filed her nails on the bed, turning to face them. "So, Blaze, what do you plan on doing now?"
"Well, I plan on getting some answers. Why wasn't I hurt by the flames? Who are my real parents? And who am I?" He managed to get up and away from Y/n's grasp, although she stubbornly stood to follow his pacing.
"Like I said, Blaze: they are your real parents. Real parents love their babies and take care of them. Not giving birth to you makes no difference."
"But you also know what I mean," he retorted as his eyes narrowed.
"But you could get hurt looking!"
"And you're the one looking for some rando that we don't even know!"
"Jack? Leave him out of this!"
"Hey, hey!" Flora yelled over them, getting in the middle with her hands raised. "Blaze, Y/n, calm down. Like this, we'll never get anything decided."
A beat of silence passed before Blaze suddenly grabbed Y/n and pulled her close to him, breaking down into tears. "I - I'm sorry, I just...it's not just my parents. It's not just them..."
"Blaze, hey! Dude, get ahold of yourself, it's okay!" She gave him a pat and stood him straight while he sniffled, trying to calm down. "Now. If this is really important to you, you know I have your back."
"Me, too!" Stella put her arm around his shoulder. "After all, sticking my nose in other people's business is my favorite sport. You know, I just love gossip," she said with a wink.
"Me, as well."
"By all means."
"You have our word."
"Word of..." Y/n put her hand in the middle, followed by the other girls.
"Winx!"
Cracking a small smile, Blaze added his hands, ending in a group hug of laughter.
-
In the next episode, Blaze is really upset by his latest discoveries. He will need Brenda's help on a secret mission to Cloud Tower to find his Book of Fate. And of course, Y/n will follow.
But Riven, who is on Trix's side now, tells Darcy about Blaze's plan, and he is ready to put his plan into action. What will the Winx do, and what will happen to Mirta?
