Chapter 4: Culprits

Dewey sat on the couch in the living room. The television was on but the duck didn't watch it. It was already night, so the light from it illuminated the room in blue. Looking down, he stared at something in his hands. "Dewey, it's late, why don't you go to bed?" Huey asked hesitantly, who, together with Louie, went down worriedly after his brother. The middle brother didn't answer. Louie wanted to say something, but the older brother stopped him, knowing that Dewey wouldn't answer anyway. He hasn't talked to anyone for two days and it doesn't look like something has changed. The brothers looked at each other sadly, feeling guilty for what had happened, and withdrew to the top.

Scrooge went to the living room, awakened by the sounds of the television. It was only when he wanted to reach for the remote control that he saw a sleeping Dewey on the sofa. Scrooge looked at him worriedly. For two days, he didn't speak to anyone, didn't eat anything and did not make up for what was unlike him. His brothers also didn't want to say anything, and Webby wandered like a shadow. The old duck was about to turn off the TV when he saw something white in Dewey's hands. He reached for the thing. It was a white button with a blue inscription. Of course, Scrooge read it and put it away by surprise with Dewey. He turned off the television and went to sleep further.

"Webby? Is everything alright?" Huey knocked on the door, and Louie walked slowly inside, not waiting for the invitation. In the room on the bed lay Webby with a pillow covered with a pillow. When the brothers came in, she didn't move. Concerned, Huey walked quickly to her and took the pillow off her face. The duck's eyes were half-open and she stared dully at the ceiling. "Webby, you live?" Louie gently shook her shoulder. The duck looked at him lazily.

Suddenly she came to her senses. She got up quickly and began to artificially smile. "Everything is great! It's never been better! I'm fine, you can go." The brothers realized that she wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible. "Webby ... I don't think it's all right ..." Huey looked away. "Yeah ... and it's like ... our ... fault ..." He tapped Louie. Webby looked at them with surprise. "What's your fault? Besides everything is really ok ..." the last sentence said sadly. The brothers looked at each other.

Webby didn't hear their entire conversation with Dewey, she only heard what he said under their pressure. They both felt embarrassed. "Look ... because ... it's our fault that you argued with Dewey ..." Huey started. "What? You know that he shouted what he really thinks about me ... it's just his fault." Webby said in a strangely stony voice. Louie was a bit scared of her voice and attitude. "It was not his fault, it's ours, it's been a long time ..." The green boy got stuck. "For a long time What?" asked Webby impatiently. "We teased him that you and he fit in and ... we overreacted too much ... he just had enough ..." Huey didn't dare look Webby in the eye. She didn't say anything for a long moment.

She looked at the brothers, and she could not read anything on her face. For a moment, it might seem that it blushes, but it quickly disappeared. She turned to the wall and stood there for a moment. The boys didn't know what to do. Suddenly, they heard a sob, and when they looked at Webby's back, the floats fell to the rhythm of tears. "If he didn't think ... he would not say that even under pressure ..." she pointed her finger at the door. "Go now ... please," Louie wanted to say, but Huey shook his head and looked sad. They could not do anything right now. They looked at Webby and ... they left.
