Chapter 10

3rd Person:

Frick.

Jeongin covered his mouth. He shouldn't have done that. He screwed everything up.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry Hyung."

He hated himself for the tears running down his cheeks. He couldn't understand why he was being so emotional, and he didn't want to cry in front of Hyunjin of all people.

Hyunjin was staring at him with his mouth slightly open.

"I... I messed up. I wasn't thinking. I'm so sorry," he choked out. "I promise I won't do that again."

Jeongin stopped functioning when Hyunjin smashed his lips against his.

Hyunjin could feel Jeongin's tears against his cheeks, and he wiped them away as they both pulled apart.

"If you don't do that again, I'm going to be very upset."

Jisung:

The alarm rang, telling me it was 6:30 in the morning.

I forced myself to turn it off, and as my eyes adjusted to the light, I realized I wasn't in my room. I slowly propped myself up with my elbow and looked around.
It took me a moment to register the arm draped across my stomach.

I was in Minho hyung's room.

Last night's events came back to me as I fully sat up.

Flashback (insert spongebob voice)

I groaned and scrunched the piece of paper I was writing on into a ball. This wasn't working. Everything I wrote made sense but didn't at the same time.

That doesn't make sense.

I heard a voice behind me. "No progress?"

"Nope," I sighed without even turning back to look at Minho hyung.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

He pulled up a chair next to me and tried his best to straighten out the paper.

"It's been almost 3 weeks since we started this," I said. "And I haven't written down a single sentence that I wanted to use in the song."

He scanned the paper and turned to look at me. "This is good Hannie, but it's... it's not you."

"What?"

"Personally, I don't think this relates to you at all."

I could have actually understood what he was saying if I wasn't focused on how close he was to me. Another three inches and our lips would be touch–

"Yah! Hannie, stare at me later, pay attention!"

I rubbed my eyes and stood up, pushing my chair back. "I don't wanna do this right now. I'm going to bed."

Minho sighed and shrugged, standing up as well.

"Alright."

When I came out of the bathroom with my pajamas on and teeth cleaned, I saw Minho hyung still in my room. He was leaning against the doorframe, which I found oddly attractive.

"Ready?" He asked.

"To go to bed? I guess," I replied.

Without saying anything he picked me up just like he had done a couple of nights before and took me to his bed.

"Hyung! Not again, come on!"

Hyung laughed and caged me around his arms.

"'Night."

"N-Night."

End of flashback (insert spongebob voice)

Minho:

I didn't feel a presence beside me, and I felt cold as a result. I attempted to open my eyes and I see Jisung sitting up while smiling to himself.

"Hannieee, lay back down."

I tried to push him back onto the bed, but he resisted.

"Hyung, we have to get to class."

I sighed and rolled off the bed.

"Whoever invented school can go step on a lego."

Felix:

"You know it would be SO much more easier and would save SO much more time if you made food for you AND me?"

Chan put on his coat and was ready to walk out the door. "I'm not your mom. Make your own food."

I frowned and slung my bag over my shoulder. "It's not my fault I woke up late."

Chan raised an eyebrow as he turned the doorknob. "It... isn't?"

I realized what I said, but still shook my head. "Nope! Aww, thanks for opening the door for me, you're such a gentleman Chan!"

I roughly pinched Chan's cheek and walked out the door. I ducked and laughed as he swiped his hand to thwack the back of my head.

"You know you're supposed to call me 'Hyung'," he said as we walked.

"Nooooouuuurr, why would I call my favorite Aussie bro 'Hyung'?" I punched his arm harder than it would be considered playful.

"Ow, what the—?" Chan clutched his arm.

I couldn't duck in time, and Chan smacked my head, making me jolt forward.

"OW!" It didn't even hurt that bad, I just felt like exaggerating.

I attempted hitting him back and for a minute we were just swatting at each other.

"Every time I see you guys, you're always fighting."

We both turned around to look at the origin of the familiar voice.

"Jisung!"

"Hello!" He waved.

"Great, your friend's here. Leave me alone."

Chan continued to fast walk ahead of us, and I experience some intense déjà vu. I feel like this has happened before...

Jisung and I followed behind him.

"Hey, Jisung?"

"Yeah?"

"Did you know," I spoke more than loud enough, wanting Chan to hear everything I was saying, "that Chan really only says three things?"

"Really?" Jisung played along. "And what are those three things?"

I grinned.

"So we have, number one: 'No'," I said.

Jisung laughed. "Ahh, I've heard that one before."

Chan:

I narrowed my eyes but kept walking.

"Number two: 'Leave me alone'."

"A classic for sure."

I involuntarily rolled my eyes. It was obvious they wanted to me to listen in.

"Aaaaaaaand last. But. Not. Least."

Did Felix have to be that dramatic?

"We've gOT, number three: 'Don't talk to me'."

"Can't forget that one!"

I shot a glare across my shoulder which sent the pair into a fit of laughter. We almost reached the school building before Jisung asked a question.

"So what happened between you two last night?"

I froze.

Why was he–?
How did he–?

Felix seemed to stop walking as well because I didn't hear footsteps behind me.

"Felix?" Jisung asked.

"...w-why are you asking?"

"Are you okay? I was just wondering because I saw you running for your life yesterday."

Oh.

"....oh. OH. Okayyy." Felix laughed, but it was as fake as hell. "I thought you were talking about something else for a second. Chan just got mad as usual, ahaha, and chased me."

"Okay... What did you think I was talking about though??"

A brief pause.

"Nothing important. Come on, we're already late."

I watched as Felix dragged Jisung past me, and I entered through the doors myself with a sigh.

Jisung:

The first thing I saw when I walk into Mr. Lee's classroom was Minho hyung waving at me. I go over to him with a smile and plop down next to him.

"Where did you go?" He asked.

"Just wanted to check in on Felix."

Hyung nodded and poked my cheek, making me giggle.

Chan:

Mother fu-

This is his fault.

Oh my lord.

If he had remembered to set his damn alarm to 6:30 in the morning instead of the evening, I wouldn't have been late. If I hadn't been late, there wouldn't only be two seats right next to each other at the back of the room, with everyone else already seated.

"Just my luck. I get to sit next to the amazing Christopher Ban—OW!"

"Didn't I tell you not to call me that?

"Since when did I ever listen to you?" Felix mumbled while rubbing the back of his head.

As we sat down and continued to bicker, we didn't notice a girl walking towards us.

Felix:

"Um, excuse me, Christopher?"

Who was she?

As she kept talking, I realized she wasn't fully Korean either. She looked like a pick-me-girl.

"I've noticed you in class for a while now... and I think you're really smart. And extremely handsome."

She twirled a strand of hair around her finger.

"And, I was wondering, would you consider going out with me some time?"

Chan didn't miss a beat.

"I'm gay."

I pursed my lips and tried not to burst out laughing. I wasn't amused by the rejection itself, just at Chan and how harsh he was being. As horrible as it sounds, I'm glad to not be on the receiving end of that for once.

The girl in front of us didn't know what to say. "O-Oh. I'm sorry."

To my surprise, she walked past me but stopped and backtracked.

"Felix, right?"

I didn't miss a beat.

"I'm gay, too."

The girl scoffed. "Unbelievable." She walked away, but before she sat back down, she decided to flip me off.

How dare she.

"Gay Supremacy!" I shouted in her direction and pumped my fist in the air. She looked at me with disgust, and I swiveled around to see Chan laughing through his nose.

"Oh. My. God."

"What?"

"You did not."

"Didn't what?"

"You... You just laughed?"

Chan looked away. "I did not."

"YOU MOST CERTAINLY DID!"

"SHHH, BE QUIET," he hissed. "That doesn't count as a laugh."

"Fine, but you smiled."

Chan shrugged. "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't."

"What does that mean? I literally saw yo—"

"Alright, guys!" A voice boomed.

"Sorry I'm late," Mr. Lee said. "I had some things to take care of." He clapped once and faced the entire class. "I have an announcement to make... regarding your song project."

I sensed Chan stiffen beside me.

"I've checked with some groups in this class, and they're all close to done. This is why I'm moving the due date to the end of next week."

WHAT THE FUCK?

Other people had the same reaction, with panic spreading across their faces. But some indifferently shrugged and leaned back in their seats. How were they almost done?

Chan looked like he was about to jump off a bridge. He always looked like that around me, so I couldn't even tell if it was because of the deadline change.

It was probably a bit of both.
