Previously on Chapter 56

"No. Shut up... SHUT UP!!!" I yelled out. I drop on my knees. The voice finally stops. I breathe heavily as I stare at the ground. This is just like that time. But that was when I was a half-demon. I thought that side of me is gone. But why does this happen again? What's wrong with me?

Tanjiro P.O.V

I place my hands on Y/N's shoulders as she kneel on the ground with her hands clutching onto her head. I try desperately to her attention. Her eyes look empty as she stares at the ground.

"Y/N!!" I yelled out, trying to get her attention. She still didn't respond. "Y/N... please! Snap out of it" I said. I cup her cheeks to turn her eyes to look at me.

"Tanjiro..." she said, in a hushed voice. I gently caress her cheek as she stares at me.

"What happened?" I asked, staring at her with a worried gaze. "Why did you suddenly starts screaming like that?" I asked. Tears starts gathering in her eyes. She choke out a sob as she starts to cry softly.

"I heard the voices in my head, Tanjiro... instructing me to kill you" she said. Tears starts to roll down her cheeks. I wraps my arms around her, pulling her closer into my embrace. She choke out a sob as she bury my face in my chest. "I'm scared..." she cried out. Her hand clench onto the front of my shirt as she continue to cry. I furrowed my eyebrows at what she said. Voices... is she talking about Kibutsuji Muzan's voice?

Something like this happened a while back. It happened when we were training. We were resting with my head on her lap, when she suddenly rushed off.

Flashback

I dropped on the ground in exhaustion after Y/N told me it's time for a break. "I'm so tired..." I said, tiredly. She let out a soft giggle at me. She took a seat on the ground near me. I quickly moved to lay my head on her lap.

I pout at her comment. "I am tired... but your lap is much more comfortable than lying flat on the ground. Now please stop teasing me and play with my hair" I said. She let out a giggle and did as I requested. I closed my eyes as I enjoyed her affection.

"T-Tanjiro... can you get up?" She asked. I opened my eyes again to look at me, staring at her with a confused gaze. "Please..." she said. I slowly move to stand up. She quickly get on her feet and ran off, ignoring what I said as I asked her what happened.

End of Flashback

By the time I found her, she was sitting on a boulder. Her eyes are empty and she was muttering something under her breath. When she snapped out of it. She ended up bursting into tears when I asked her what happened. Much like what's happening right now.

I hear a soft snoring sound coming from her. I pull away slightly to look at her to see she had fallen asleep. I bit my lips at what she told me. A voice inside her head. It could be that man. But if Kibutsuji Muzan managed to get inside her head again. Does that means, she's turning back into a half-demon?

I shake my head at the thought. Right now that doesn't matter. I've got to take her to the Butterfly Estate. Maybe Kocho-San would know what to do. She is a doctor after all.

I gently place my hands behind her knees and on her back. I stand up with her in my arms, her head is rested against my chest. She let out a soft whimper. A frown forms on her face, as a sign of discomfort.

I gently place a kiss on the side of her head. "Shh... it's okay. You're okay. I got you, Y/N" I whispered softly in her ear. Her face relaxes a little. I smile softly and walks off, heading towards the Butterfly Estate.

I just sit on the available chair as I watch Kocho-San check on Y/N. She let out a sigh and turn to look at me. "I'm sorry, Tanjiro-Kun. But I can't seem to find what's wrong with her" she said. I let out a shaky breath and nods my head. She smiles at me.

"Can you call me when she wakes up? So I can check her while she's conscious. Maybe then I'll be able to find a clue about her" she said. I just nod my head. She turns around, making her way out of the room.

I scoot the chair closer to the bed. I gently grab her hand, holding it in mine. I gently rub the back of her hand with my thumb, as I stare at her sleeping face. I lift her hand, bringing it closer to my face so I can place a soft kiss on the back of her hand.

I hear a soft groan coming from her. I turn my head to look at her. Her eyes moves a little. But she seems to still be asleep.

"N-No... get out of my head" she said. She starts to move her head side to side. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" She yelled out, springing up into a sitting position. She breathes heavily. Sweats are running down the side of her head.

"Y/N?" I called out. Her breathing evened out as she turn to look at me. I move to take a seat on the edge of the bed. I gently cup her cheek, as she seems in panic. "I'm here, Y/N. You're okay..." I said, softly.

"Tan... T-Tanjiro..." she croaked out. She moves closer towards me, throwing her arms around me. She buries her face into the crook of my neck. I hug her back as I gently rub her back comfortingly.

"You'll be fine... you're all right. I'm right here... I'll do everything I can to protect you" I said. I adjust my body and pulls her closer. She ended up seated on my lap as I continue to hug her close. Her body is shaking violently as she seems to struggle to control her emotions.

"Don't keep it in, Y/N. Just let it out... let it all out..." I said, softly. As soon as I said that, the sound of broken cry can be heard from her. "Just let it out... it's okay. You're okay" I said, cooing softly. I sway our body gently side to side as I continue to keep her in my arms.

It hurts me to see her in this state. If only I could just do something to make it easy for her, I would. I'd do anything to make sure she's okay. But, what can I do?
