Previously on Chapter 54

"Hinokami Kagura - Sunflower Thrust!!" I yelled out as I lunges at him. He swiftly moves out of the way. Damn it! This demon is too fast. I've got to be careful while going against him. One wrong move would cause me my life. But I will defeat this demon. He will pay for what he did to Y/N. I'll make sure of it!!

-A Glimpse Of My Former Self-

Tanjiro P.O.V

The demon dodges my attack swiftly. I click my tongue in annoyance. This demon moves too fast. Will I even be strong enough to fight him on my own? I can't ask my sister for help, because she has to focus on protecting Y/N.

No, it's not about whether I'm strong enough. I have to do it. I have to defeat this demon and get Y/N treated as soon as possible. I turn my head to look at Y/N whose head is laying on Nezuko's lap.

"Where are you paying attention, boy?" The demon said. I turn to look at him only to see him standing right in front of me. I gasp at the sudden closeness and jumps out of the way. My reaction makes the demon laughs out loud as if it's the most amusing thing to him.

I furrowed my eyebrow as I watch the demon laugh like a lunatic. I'm starting to believe that this demon is just toying around with me. I grit my teeth out of frustration for not realizing sooner that this demon is not taking me seriously, meaning he's enjoying tormenting me.

The demon appears in front of me. He was moving so fast that I don't even have time to react. He swings his fist, punching me right on my rib. My body gets thrown back, colliding into a broken building. I feel like the air has been squeezed out of me. I wheeze out, clutching onto my chest in pain as I desperately try to get some air back into my lungs.

I feel a hand grabbing me by the neck. My body is lifted off the ground until my feet dangles beneath me. I start to choke for air as the air pipe of my lungs is completely blocked. I start clawing onto the demon's hand while he just smirks at my reaction.

"Man... I kinda have hope for you both. I thought I'd finally find some worthy opponents to make this even more entertaining. But, this fight has been pretty boring" he said. He toss me in the air, and spins around, landing a kick right on my abdomen. My body gets thrown quite far, colliding into various of things before coming to a stop. I struggle to stand up as I feel several bones on my body breaks from the impacts.

"I need more!! Entertain me more!!" The demon said. I grit my teeth as I try to fight the pain. But no matter how hard I try to stand up, my body ended up collapsing right back on the ground. I start to breathe heavily as I struggle to stay conscious.

Suddenly, a strong wind blows. I turn my head weakly to look at the source. My eyes widen when I notice Y/N standing up. Behind her is Nezuko who looks shocked.

"Y/N..." I said. She slowly lift her head, while holding onto her bleeding shoulder. Blood drips down her arm as she turn her head to look at me. My eyes widen in shock when I saw her face.

I thought she was suppose to be a human. But, right now she looks like a demon. Much like how she was before. What's happening? Is her demonic side coming back?

She seems to have gained more speed as she completely overpowers the demon. The demon struggles to keep up with her speed as she continues to attack him. I watch as the demon lays on the ground, struggling to regenerate. Y/N walks towards where she had dropped her sword. She grabs it and walks towards the demon.

"N-No... p-please!" The demon pleaded for her not to kill him. Y/N stares at the demon with her blood red eyes coldly. She lift her hand, swinging the sword that slice right across the demon's neck. I watch as the head of the demon rolled away from its body.

I watch as Y/N's body starts to relax as the demon turns into ashes. She slowly turn her head to look at me as her eyes slowly turns back to its original e/c color. Her body sways a little as she drops on the ground.

"Y-Y/N..." I said. I try to stand up, only to fall back on the ground. In the end, I just crawled my way towards her. I lift my hand and gently place it on her cheek once I'm close enough. All of the wounds on her body aren't healing. Which makes me wonder if she really has re-awakened her demonic self.

I hear footsteps coming closer towards us, which makes me tensed up. But as I turn my head to see the Kakushi and relaxes. My eyelids starts to get heavier. They start to drift shut as my surrounding went dark.

Y/N P.O.V

I slowly open my eyes to see a ceiling above me. I blink my eyes a few times, waiting for the fatigue to go away. I turn my head to the side to realize I'm in the Butterfly Estate. What happened? Did Tanjiro managed to defeat the demon?

I have no clear memories of what happened back there. As I try to rack my brain for any memories of what had happened, it only ended up with a headache. I can't remember anything after losing my consciousness after that demon knocked me out.

The sound of the door snaps me out of my daze. I turn my head to see Tanjiro. He has bandages all over his body. He notices that I'm awake, which makes him let out what seems to be a relieved sigh.

"Y/N... you're awake. Thank goodness" he said. He move the door shut and make his way towards me. He takes a seat on the edge of the bed, gently placing his hand on top of mine that is resting on the bed. "So... how are you feeling?" He asked.

"Fine... better than when we were in that village" I said. He hums softly, smiling at me. I bit my lips as I try to think of what to say. "Did you managed to defeat the demon, Tanjiro?" I asked.

"No. I'm not the one who defeated the demon, Y/N..." he said, shaking his head. I stare at him in confusion. I was unconscious and he was the only one other than me and Nezuko. "It wasn't Nezuko either. It was you, Y/N. You were the one who defeated that demon" he said. My eyes widen at what he said.

A flash of memory flashes before my eyes, and I caught a glimpse of myself fighting the demon on my own. I remember the sense of strength that flows through me. The sensation feels familiar. It's like when I was using my demonic strength. But how is that possible?
