Previously on Chapter 21

"Settle down, both of you..." I said, softly while trying not to laugh at these two. They finally stops and turn to look at me. I let out a sigh. "Nezuko can sit on my lap, while Tanjiro sits next to me... we can all cuddle, okay?" I said. They turn to look at each other before nodding their heads. I let out a sigh of relief because they actually agreed with my suggestion. Goodness... just what did I get myself into?

-Solo Mission-

Y/N P.O.V

I'm sitting by the garden of my estate. I just stare at the sky above. Tanjiro is having another training session and Nezuko is inside my estate. She's currently sleeping to regain her strength. So I just let her be.

I feel something land on my shoulder. I turn my head to see it's my crow, C/N. I smile softly and lift my hand. She jumps and land on my wrist. I lift my free hand, placing it on her feather as I start to caress it gently.

"What is it, C/N?" I asked. She informs me that I will be going on a mission. Apparently, there has been some people missing in a village. I nod my head and smiles. "Alright... where?" I asked. I froze when I hear the name. It's V/N... the village I was born in.

"Y/N?" Someone said. I turn my head, following the voice to see Tanjiro. He have sweats all over his forehead from his training session. He walks over to me and take a seat next to me. "Is there something wrong? You look so pale..." he said.

"I've been given a mission... at the village I was born in. The place where those people treated me horribly..." I said. C/N flies up and joins Tanjiro's crow on the tree. I lower my gaze and stare at my lap. I let out a sigh and place my face on my hands. "I can't complain though, right? A mission is a mission..." I said.

I feel a hand on the side of my head, as Tanjiro gently pulls me closer to his side. I scoot closer to him, placing my head on his shoulder. I don't mind the fact that he's practically covered in sweats. I need his comfort right now. I close my eyes as he gently runs his hand through my hair.

"When are you leaving?" He asked, after he's sure that I'm a lot calmer. I pull away to look at him to see him staring at me with concern. He understands how hard it would be for me to step a foot in the village that have given me nothing but misery.

"Soon... the travel between here to that place would be 2 days prior. So, I have to go as soon as possible" I said. He hums softly and nod his head. He lift his hand, placing it on top of my head.

"Take care..." he said, smiling softly at me. I smile softly and gently kisses his nose. He pulls me closer, placing his chin on my shoulder. "And please stay safe... I can't bare to lose another person that I love..." he said, running his hand through my hair. I can feel his body tense.

"I'll try my best. Even if I got hurt... I wouldn't die so easily. I'm a half-demon, remember?" I said, smiling softly as I run my hand through his hair. He let out a sigh and pulls away from me.

"I'm still worried..." he said. I let out a sigh and lean my forehead against his. "So please be careful out there..." he said. I just nod my head, smiling softly at him. He just pulls me into another hug.

I stand in front of the gate as I'm about to leave for my mission. I hear footsteps running towards me. I turn my head to see it's Tanjiro and Nezuko. The sun has set, so she's able to be out in the open.

Nezuko rushes towards me, throwing her arms around my neck. "I'm going to miss you too, Nezuko-Chan" I said. She buries her face into the crook of my neck. I just smile softly to myself as I run my hand through her hair.

"Nezuko!! Move, it's my turn now!" Tanjiro whined. I let out a laugh as he starts to sulk. Nezuko turn to look at him, shakes her head and tightens her arms instead of pulling away. "Nezuko!!" He whined again.

"Nezuko..." I said, softly. She hums and pulls away. I let out a giggle and gently pat her head. I turn to look at my boyfriend, who instantly wraps his arms around me. I just smile as I return his embrace. I hug him tightly, trying to savor the moment. I don't know how long I'll take for this mission. I'm sgoing to miss both Tanjiro and Nezuko.

"Y/N-Chan!!!!" Someone yelled out. I pull away from Tanjiro and turn around, only to be pulled into a hug. I stumble a little because of the person's body colliding into mine. From the scent, I instantly realize who it is.

"Kanroji-San..." I said. She tighten her arms around me. I awkwardly pat her back, having no idea what else to do. I just let her hug me for a while until she decided to pull away. She places her hands on both of my shoulders.

"I heard that you'd be going on a solo mission. Please do be careful out there, alright? If there's an Upper Rank demon, just send a crow... don't try to fight it on your own..." she said.

The way she stares at me and the way she's acting, reminds me of my mother. There's a look of worry reflecting in her eyes, just like my mother when I decided to go outside the house. Mama was always so worried whenever I did.

"I'm a lot stronger now... I'm going to be fine, Kanroji-San" I said. She just smiles at what I said. She ruffles my hair which makes me whine, because she just make my hair messed up. Eventually, I just smile as she laughs at my reaction.

"Alright, then... Tanjiro, Nezuko-Chan, Kanroji-San... I better get going now. Wish me luck..." I said, smiling at the three of them. They gather around me and pulls me into a group hug. I just smile as I try to hug all three of them as best I could. I wish I can extend my arms so I can hug them both properly.

"Bye, everyone... see you when I get back" I said, while pulling away at them. I turn around and walk away. After I'm quite far from them, I turn around. I lift my hand and wave at them. They do the same, which makes me smile brightly. I slowly lower my hand, I turn around and begins my journey to my old village.

I wonder how things are in my old village. Memories of the times I was there comes back into my mind, including the mistreatments they gave me.

I shake my head rapidly, trying to dismiss such thoughts from my mind. I have to remember that I'm only going there to complete the mission I'm assigned to, and nothing else.

Even so, I can't help but wonder if everything's the same since I left. But most likely not. Especially since there've been a demon's attack. But I guess I'm gonna have to wait and see it for myself.
