Previously on Chapter 19

"Fine... even though it's not fair! But that means... I get to be with Nezuko-Chan~" he said. Tanjiro's eyes widen at what he said. He turn around and was about to run to where Nezuko is, but Tanjiro jumps on him which causes the two of them to fall on the ground. I let out a sigh and shakes my head at these boys. Seriously... there's just no end of this.

-Voices Inside My Head-

Y/N P.O.V

I duck as Tanjiro swings his bokken at me. I slide on the ground, knocking him off his feet. "Come on, Tanjiro. You don't have to go easy on me just because I'm your girlfriend" I said, chuckling.

"I wasn't! You're just too strong, Y/N! I mean... how can I fight against a Hashira. The last time was just luck!" He said, waving his hands around. I let out a laugh at what he said. I lift my hand, gesturing him to come at me again. He let out a sigh and just do as I asked. I keep swiftly dodging him.

"Wow... it feels like we're dancing~" I said. He blushes at what I said, making me burst out laughing. He eventually stops and drops on the ground, while breathing heavily. I let out a chuckle and sit down next to him. As soon as I'm seated, Tanjiro quickly moves his head to place it on my lap. "I thought you're tired... but you still can move" I said.

He pout at my comment. "I am tired... but your lap is much more comfortable than laying flat on the ground. Now please stop teasing me and play with my hair" he said.

I let out a soft giggle at his protest. I lift my hand. I gently place it on his head, caressing his hair softly. He hums softly in appreciation. Ever since we got together, Tanjiro made it clear that he loves it when I play with his hair.

I hear someone scoffing. I turn my head to see it's none other than Shinazugawa-San. He's glaring at me with so much distaste in his eyes. I frown at the way he's acting towards me. The others can accept the fact that I'm a half-demon. Everyone... but him.

I feel a hand on the side of my cheek. I turn my head to look at Tanjiro to see him staring at me with concern. "Is everything alright? I can smell sadness coming from you" he said. I just give him a slight smile.

"I'm fine, Tanjiro..." I said. He's about to turn his head. But I cup his cheek and keep his head from turning to look at Shinazugawa-San. The last thing I want is for him to pick a fight with the Wind Hashira. With his current level, Tanjiro will only get hurt if they ended up fighting each other and I don't want that.

Kill them... a voice echoed. I look around in confusion. I can't seem to find the source of voice. All of those stupid mortals. Just kill them all... the voice said again. I shake my head at what the voice said.

"T-Tanjiro... can you get up?" I asked. He opens his eyes again to look at me. From his eyes, I can tell that he feels confused as to why I asked him to get up all the sudden. "Please..." I said. He slowly move to stand up. I quickly get on my feet and runs off, ignoring Tanjiro who's asking me where I'm going.

Tanjiro P.O.V

Why is she acting so strange all the sudden. I look around and finally takes notice of Shinazugawa-San. His eyes are following Y/N's movements as she walks away. His eyes held hatred.

I clenched my hands into tight fists. I can't stand back and do nothing while this guy looks down on my girlfriend. But what can I possibly do against him who is on a higher rank than me.

Aish... just forget about him for a while. I should focus more on Y/N and make sure she's alright. I get up and runs towards where Y/N's heading to.

I found her by the same lake we confessed our feelings to each other. She's sitting on top of a rock, staring into the distance. But her eyes seems blank like she's lost in her own thoughts.

I slowly approach her and stand in front of her. She didn't seem to look at me. "Who are you?" She said. But her voice sounded distant. I furrow my eyebrow in confusion. I wave my hand in front of her eyes, trying to her some sort of reaction. But she remains the same.

Her breathing suddenly becomes heavy. Tears starts to spill out of her eyes. I stare at her in worry, wondering what is going on inside her mind. But I can't think about that right now. I need to somehow wake her up.

I quickly place my hands on her shoulders and lightly shaking her, hoping it would snap her out of her current state. It seems to work, because she seem to have snapped out of her daze. Her eyes turns focus as she stares at me.

"Tanjiro?" She said, her voice cracks as she said my name. I just nod my head. She stands up and throws her arms around me. I stumble a little but manage to catch myself before I fall over.

Her hug feels desperate. I just hug her back and held her close, silently wondering what is going on. I can feel her body shaking and my shirt starting to get wet. I furrow my eyebrow in confusion.

I sniff the air and froze. I can smell a familiar scent that have been haunting me. I look around, trying to locate the source of the scent. But no matter how hard I try to look, I can't seem to spot the source. I hug Y/N protectively, as I feel uneasy. What the hell is going on?

I carry Y/N in my arms. She have fallen asleep after crying for a good while. That's all she did. She didn't tell me what's going on, or why she suddenly looks so dazed.

I reach the Butterfly Estate and make my way inside. I hear footsteps coming closer towards us. I turn my head to see it's Kanroji-San. She stops once she stands in front of me.

"I heard Y/N-Chan suddenly runs off. What happened?" She asked, worriedly. I just turn my head to look at Y/N who's still asleep in my arms. "Has she been crying?" She asked. She lift her hand, gently wiping the remaining tears on Y/N's cheek.

"Yeah... but I had no idea what happened. She was in daze and was talking to someone. But I see nobody in the place she was in. Not long after, she started crying. I tried to ask her what happened... but she just keeps on crying" I said.

Kanroji-San gently places her hand on my shoulder. I turn my head to look at her. "You have to stay with her. It's clear that she's having a hard time with herself... she's going to need you more than anything now" she said. I just smile at what she said and nod my head. Of course... I'll always be with her.
