Previously on Chapter 10

He gently lower me down, so I'm sitting in front of the Flame Hashira. I clench my hands into tight fists. There has to be a way that I can do to save his life. I wish I can switch our position. I would have been okay. But with a wound that deep... Rengoku isn't going to make it.

-Exhaustion-

Y/N P.O.V

"Is there a way to stop the bleeding? Like use your breathing control?" Kamado asked as he kneels down in front of Rengoku next to me. Rengoku turns to look at him and smiles.

"No... I'm going to die..." he said. I bit my lips as I look down. I promised my mother that I will protect people. Yet, I can't even protect a fellow Demon Slayer. How can I save the world?

My eyes widened as I remember something. "There is a way to save you, Rengoku-San..." I said, earning their attention. I scoot closer to him and make one of my nail sharper. I cut a slit on my forearm. "Drink my blood... it will help close your wound. You can live..." I said.

He stares at the blood that slowly seeps out of my slit wound. He turn to look at me, looking doubtful. I smile reassuringly at him. "Don't worry, you won't turn into a demon, Rengoku-San. I'm only a half-demon. Thus, I don't have the ability to turn human into a demon. But my blood have some sort of healing property. Please just trust me... and drink my blood" I said.

He hesitantly grab my wrist. He place his lips on the wound and start to sip my blood. I close my eyes as my body glows a soft f/c. It's the way to activate the healing property in my blood.

I feel Rengoku's lips leave my skin. Open my eyes as I observe him. He looks better. "It works..." I said. My vision starts to get blurrier. My body falls to the side as my surrounding went dark.

Kamado P.O.V

The wound on Rengoku-San's abdomen have fully healed. My eyes glimmer with happiness because he's going to be okay. I hear a thud coming from next to me and turn my head to see L/N-San on the ground.

"L/N-San!" I said, panicked. I rush to her side and gently scoop her arms up. I let her head leans against my chest. I place my hand on the side of her cheek. "Her body feels cold..." I said, turning to look at the others with a worried face.

Rengoku moves closer to take a look. "She's going to be fine. She's just exhausted..." he said. I let out a sigh of relief. She probably knew this would happen to her after using that healing technique. But she did it anyway so she can safe Rengoku.

I hear footsteps coming closer towards us. I turn my head to see it's the Kakushi's. They rushes towards me. I let them take L/N-San from me. One of them gently hoist me up on his back. While three others help Rengoku-San, Zenitsu and Inosuke. I stare at the one that carries L/N-San. I place my chin on the person's shoulder as I stare at L/N-San's back.

"Everyone is okay... thank goodness" I said in a hushed voice. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep, while hoping that L/N-San will be alright. She's the one who used up a lot of strength compare to the rest of us.

I lay on the bed as I stare at the ceiling. Everyone else are asleep. I turn my head to the side to look at the bed L/N-San is laying on. Her breathing are slow and steady as she seem to be sound asleep.

Aoi enters the clinic as she walks up to me. "Good... you have woken up" she said. I just smile awkwardly at her. I turn my head to look at L/N-San. She seem to notice my stare on the h/c haired girl. She turn to look at L/N-San before turning to look at me again.

"Oh, L/N sama will be fine... but it will take a few days for her to wake up. She used up a lot of strength on that battle. I heard you faced an Upper Rank demon, huh?" She said. I nod my head at what she said. She clicks her tongue and hums.

"You guys sure have some tough luck... just get some rest. Hurry up and get better, so we can start the rehabilitation practice" she said. I let out a nervous laugh at what she said. She just roll her eyes. She turns around and walks out of the clinic after placing a tray with my medicinal tea.

I sit up and grab the clay cup. I lift it closer to my lips. I close my eyes as I start to drink the content. It tastes so bitter. But that's to be expected as it is medicine. It's a good thing that I grew up within the mountain. So I'm used to consuming bitter food due to all the herbs.

I place the empty cup on the desk. I turn to look at where L/N-San is sleeping. I slowly stand up and walks up to her. I take a seat on the chair next to the bed as I stare at L/N-San. She looks so peaceful as she sleeps. Not long later, her face starts contorting a little.

"Mama, d-don't leave m-me... mama..." she said. Tears starts streaming down her cheeks. I hesitate a little. But I lift my hand and gently cup the side of her cheek. She lift her hands, grasping onto mine. "I don't want to be alone, mama..." she said, her voice cracks a little.

For some reason, hearing how broken she sounded makes my heart clenched tightly. I can't see L/N-San looking so upset. I entwine our hands together as she slowly drift off to sleep.

Her face slowly relaxes. My eyes soften as her breathing evened out. I don't know why... but I want to see her to always feel happy. I don't want to see her sad, and seeing her sick makes me feel so worried for her.

Please don't be sick, L/N-San...

A/N: I'm so sorry for changing the plot so drastically! I just can't bring myself to follow the plot and make Rengoku die during this time. I just don't wanna end him like that!! 😭😭😭
