Chapter 2: Getting along

Note: The chapters are so glitchy o_o I have to update this chapter quickly because otherwise it glitches and deletes stuff, so I have to keep testing it out...ahem, it should be fixed now so um here you go, the second chapter, a new book and two chapters in one day! Just thought I would point out, Mistral School is a boarding school, so everyone lives at the school :D They only go home when it's the holidays.

Liam's POV

My first class was ICT. I had it with most of my new friends, Sky, Mitch, Jerome, Husky and SSundee. I quickly run up the stairs after them. We finally reach the top, panting hard. There's a guy with brown hair who nods at me respectfully. "That's Lewis" Sky whispers, his curls brushing the side of my head. On the opposite side, there was a guy, extremely tall, taller than me and I'm pretty tall, and he had neatly combed auburn hair, and was neater than mine, which was definitely a first. The boy catches my gaze, and his lazy eyes burn with such intensity into mine that I flinch. "That's Ridge, he's a bit of a loner" Husky whispers, a bit louder than necessary. I grin.

Ridge doesn't seem to pay much attention to us, just slips his gaze back to the wall. His arms are clasped against his chest and he seems to be thinking hard. The door suddenly opens and a male teacher peers out. "Ah, welcome back to school guys. Come in, come in" he smiles, opening the door for us all. Ridge is the first to stride in, dumping his bag at a computer, and yanking a chair out, sitting down and crossing his legs, grinding his teeth together. I guess Husky's comment was a bit too far. Lewis sits next to him, smiling lightly at him. Ridge does not smile back, only nods at him. I guessed that the two were sort of friends. Well, not friends. More like acquaintances.

I walk in, eyeing up the computers. I wasn't so good at coding and things like that, but I loved website design, game design, anything that I could design! My hands were itching to get onto the computer, but the teacher interrupted my thoughts. "My name is Mr Flax, and you, if I'm not mistaken, are the new student joining this school! Liam, right?" he smiles. "Yeah" I nod, grateful for the presence of my new friends. "Awesome, right, you go sit where you want, there's not many people in this class..." Mr Flax carries on talking, but no one is listening. I plonk myself down in a chair and Mitch sits next to me, followed by Jerome who sits on the other side.

"So, how you liking school?" Mitch asks with a smile. "Yeah, it's alright" I answer, briefly leaving my chair to collect my login and password before returning and logging onto my account. The internet was slow and most of the websites for games were blocked, to my dismay. "You're going to be in our room, there's a spare bed left." he continues, loading up some fancy coding thing that made apsolutely no sense whatsoever. "Awesome" I grin, trying to make sense of the symbols on his screen.

The teacher was blabbing on, and pointing at something on the board. Ridgedog was flying ahead-obviously this lesson was his speciality. He had done all of it before the teacher had even got onto step 2. I scowl in his direction-what a goody two shoes! He meets my eyes and they narrow. "Piss off Ridge" Sky suddenly snaps. "Shut the hell up" he snarls from across the room, his deep voice travelling to my ears. "Boys!" the teacher snaps.

The lesson drags on and on. I hated coding, but Mitch helped me. I was beginning to really like him, how he always made sure I understood. As I got the hang of it, he began to talk to me about the rooms. "It's really cool. You get free internet, and it's really good too. We all like to play Minecraft and go on multiplayer and build stuff, y'know? It's pretty awesome. Do you know anyone else who plays Minecraft other than Hannah, Ash, Zoey and Minty? They play with us sometimes..." he trails off. I wonder if he has a crush on one of them.

"Yeah, Tia does. We usually partner up and play pvp and stuff" I say coolly. "Awesome, ask her if she wants to play on multiplayer with us sometime!" he grins. "Sure" I smile, before the bell rings. I quickly log off the computer, sling my bag over my shoulder and follow Mitch out, ignoring Ridge's glares.

Quickly, I whip out my timetable. Photography. I grinned-I was with Tia for that. I wave my goodbyes to Sky and the others, before striding through the corridors, towards the art block where photography was taught.

Opening the door shyly, I was greeted by a group of students, most of them I didn't know. But Tia was lounging on a chair, leaning backwards. When she sees me, she grins, and waves me over, patting the empty seat next to her. I grin back, feeling more relaxed. At least I had one friend in this class. "Hey Liam, you doing OK?" she whispers during registration. "Yeah, I'm good" I whisper back, ignoring the stares of other students.

We don't really listen to the teacher as she babbles on about photoshop, we just talk about the friends we have made. "I'm staying with Mitch and Sky and the other guys in their room" I grin proudly. She smiles faintly. "There's no room anywhere, so I get a room to myself. There's another bed in there, so I can have people sleep over and I can go visit everyone else." she whispers. "What if you get lonely?" I frown. I hated being alone, and was thankful I got to stay in someone's room. "I like being alone. I can study more." She snaps her head towards the teacher, acting like she was paying attention.

Once we have the camera in our hands, we begin to snap jokey pictures of each other. Some guy who introduced himself as Sjin came over to us, asking if he could join us. Soon we were doing stupid poses, lying down on tables planking and jumping down the stairs. We became good photography buddies and started editing the pictures. Thankfully, Tia and I had done photoshop before, and edited the pictures to make it look like Sjin was planking and being eaten by a shark at the same time and I was jumping into a dark hole. Tia seemed to be obsessed with changing her eye colour from a bright blue to a vivid red, to neon yellow to fuzzy television particles, to the finished result, no eyes at all, just black empty holes.

"How come Sips isn't with you?" Tia asks, after we've had a laughing fit over the shark picture. "Oh, he hates photography" he smiles, unplugging the camera, and cradling it. "My dad liked taking pictures, and so did I. Sips didn't like it, but ah well." He places the camera back in the tray before glancing back at us. "See you around" he grins and I wave as we grab our bags and leave as the bell rings.

We have registration next, and Tia runs off to sit with Zoey, who grins and accepts her company. I glance over and grin when I spot Jerome and Tato. "Hey Liam!" Tato calls out, and I sit down in a seat next to him. "Hey Tato, Jerome" I greet, before glancing at the guy next to them. "This is Ryan, by the way" Jerome smiles, gesturing at him. "Nice to meet you" he grins, his voice really deep. "He can do really good Morgan Freeman impressions!" Tato laughs, and I erupt into laughter as Ryan begins to imitate him to perfection.

Glancing over at Tia, she is drawing with Zoey. Tia appears to have drawn a ninja cat whilst Zoey has drawn a nyan cat. They begin giggling and adding moustaches and top hats to the cats and I shake my head at them-Tia had found some friends at least. "Can't wait for tonight. It's been way too long since we've all slept together" Jerome grins. I stare at him, wide eyed and he bursts into laughter until our teacher tells us to, rather rudely, shut up.

"I was only joking! Honestly" Jerome chuckles. Form finally ends, and I get up-Health and Social Care next.

Tia's POV

Geography. I smile with a light sigh. Zoey was in it, which was good. I loved Geography, it was my favourite subject. Entering the room, everyone is lined up at the back. "Hello, I'm Mrs Aplin, and you must be the new student, Tia. Well, line up at the back, because we have a new seating plan!" she says with a smile. I nod, and Zoey and I join the rest of the class at the back. I nod at Duncan and Rythian who I met at break, and they nod back. So far, so good.

"Alright...hmm...Zoey, please come sit here at the back with...Rythian" she says, tapping at the seats. Zoey shoots me a look and I give her the thumbs up-she had a small crush on Rythian. Mrs Aplin began to seat everyone else until there were only two students remaining, me and Ridge. And two empty seats at the front.

Oh joy.

"And finally, Ridge and Tia, you can sit at the front. There we go!" Mrs Aplin beams. I seat myself down awkwardly, listening to the chair scrape next to me and smelling the cologne as he sits down, pulling the chair in, and begins to tap a pen on the table. That was going to get annoying.

I keep my head down. I was used to being quiet in awkward situations. Ridge stayed quiet too. When we had to put our name on a plain sticker, there was only one left and I paused before giving it to him. He takes it without even thanking me, sticking it on and writes his name in fancy writing.

"Miss, please may I have a sticker please?" I ask. I ignore his snicker beside me. My patience was wearing thin. "Thanks" I smile, taking the sticker and plonking it neatly in the corner. Taking out my special snowman pencil, I begin to jot my name down, only for Ridge to violently jostle the table, making my letters swerve. I glare down at the ruined name, before furiously reaching to unzip my pencil case and get a rubber, only for a hand to push my pencil case off the table, spilling pens on the floor noisily.

The whole class was watching us now, out of the corner of their eyes. I let out a huge breath of air out of my nose. I bend down, scooping up my pens and slotting them carefully back in the pencil case before retrieving my rubber. When he leans forward to push my folder off the table, I snap and my hand throws itself out to shove his folder violently so it flies across the table and sails onto the floor with a bang.

"Tia! Go pick that folder up right now!" Mrs Aplin commands, appalled at my behaviour. I huff loudly, and grit my teeth angrily, walking over to pick his folder up and slam it back down on the desk. I wasn't stupid. Mrs Aplin had seen what Ridge had done but had done nothing about it. He was either a very feared student even to teachers or was being payed to go to this school by important people.

My guess was that he was both.

I can see Zoey watching me sympathetically next to Rythian, who smiles lightly at me. I sigh again, seating myself down and diverting my gaze back to my own folder. I immerse myself in my work, letting my hand flash across the paper and soon I've filled two pages full of notes. "Know it all" came the hiss next to me. "Stupid idiot" I snap under my breath back. "Shut the hell up" he snarls. I finally look up at his blazing blue eyes.

He looked pretty fierce and for a moment I almost flinched back.

But I was stubborn. I'd always been stubborn, until I knew it would get out of hand, then I would make a hasty retreat. But this time, I thought, let's push my luck just a little bit further. "Make me" I reply, regarding him with a cool gaze of disinterest.

He glowers at me angrily, huffing out an angry breath. "Leave me alone and don't talk to me at all." I tell him. "Fine" he spits, and we turn away from each other angrily. When the class ends, I get a sticker for all the good work I'd done and I stick it on my folder proudly. Ridge tries to trip me up, but I step neatly out of the way of his foot as I go to my next class, which was also with him. Looks like I'd made an enemy.

Note: Sorry for uploading so many chapters in one day! Had to get rid of the test page :p Hope you enjoy this! Every comment and vote is appreciated :D
