Chapter 12: Alone

Note: It's not going well for Tia lately is it? :( I'm starting to miss Tidgedog... :'( Guess you will have to wait a little longer...:D

Tia's POV

The rest of the week was hell. I was pushed and shoved in the corridor. I recieved evil death glares in the classroom. I had to sit alone at lunch. I slept in my bedroom alone, and I don't know where Ridgedog went. My phone had been buzzing with constant text messages, but I didn't look at a single one of them. Why would I want to? They were probably just people texting about how much of an idiot I was. And I was, to be honest. Trying to become friends with the bully who was a demigod-smart move, Tia, smart move.

In the process of that, I had lost all of my friends, and gained a large bruise on my face where I was punched. I hadn't seen Ridgedog for a while, since I hadn't had many classes with him. The best part of the week was the weekend. There were classes on Saturday, but only three, and on Sunday, you got to do whatever you wanted. There was a town just down the road, closed off so you couldn't get out of it, and there were teachers everywhere so you could go in all of the shops.

I had a tenner with me, so on Sunday, I headed down to the shops, alone. I decided it was time to check my phone, and what awaited me was horrible.

Any friend of Ridgedog's is an enemy to us -Duncan

Stupid cow -Sips

You're an idiot -Ash

Seriously? Friends with Ridge, out of all people? -Liam

And that was to name a few. Why were they making such a big deal out of it? Was Ridgedog really that bad? The worst one was the latest one, by Sips.

You just wait until we find you out of school. I'm going to teach you a lesson -Sips

Swallowing hard and gripping my money in my pocket, I jogged down into the town.

It was early in the morning, so not many people were about. I stumbled over to the cafe, and decided to get a drink to calm my nerves. I bought a coffee for 50p, and sipped it with trembling cold hands. Warming my hands on the cardboard cup, I steal quick glances out of the window. Students were beginning to go into town. I spotted Minty, Zoey, Hannah and Ash all linking arms and walking towards the McDonalds. I look down bitterly, finishing my coffee and discarding the cup into the bin. Opening the door and shivering against the breeze, I snatch glances left and right before heading over to look at the shops.

The town was pretty good, to say the least. They had gaming shops, with phones and consoles, book stores, more food shops, charity shops, toy stores, the whole lot. I headed down to the book store, and found some study books. The total came to a fiver, so I payed it out quickly. I had £4.50 left, but I decided to save it. There wasn't anything else I needed anyway.

I head up to the hill, the bag of books absentmindedly banging against my legs. Getting annoyed at this, I grab my shoulder bag and shove them inside, zipping it up. Until a voice makes me freeze.

"Look who it is!" Sips yells, and I turn, fear making my legs turn to jelly.

Sips was marching down the hill, followed by a worried looking Sjin, a fierce Duncan and Strippin, who looked bold to say the least. I slip my bag over my shoulders, backing away warily. In the corner of my eye, I see some curtains twitch and the unmistakable face of Ridgedog peers out. What a chicken, I think, decided to stay hidden in a room. Which, in this current predicament, seemed like the best thing to do. But it was too late now.

"This is for slamming my head in the door, bitch!" Sips snarls, punching my cheek that already had a bruise on it. I stagger back, flinching hard in pain, before adrenaline kicks in, and I throw my own punch back, hitting him square in the nose. His nose, already crooked from when he fought Ridge, snapped again, and he yelled, flailing at me. His friends tried to surround me, but the fear got the better of me and I took off down the hill, my jelly legs still shaking, but still sturdy enough for me to keep on running.

"Get her!" Sips' voice yells, and I keep on running, not daring to look behind. I dive into the growing crowds in town, running around in circles, until I'm sure I've lost them. Panting from the adrenaline burst, I make my way up the hill, slamming the door shut behind me and running up the stairs, exhausted, my heart pounding, but I did not stop until I reached my bedroom, and I flung myself into my bedroom and shut the door, turning around to slump against it when my breath caught in my throat.

Sips was stood scowling resting against my wardrobe door. He stood up when I saw him, and I realized I had stopped breathing. He pulled me away from the door. I should of run then, but I was frozen. This was incredibly scary. What was he going to do?

He made sure I was stood against the wall, before grabbing my bag and walking over to the desk to open it. Quickly and quietly, I slip my phone out, and stab at Ridgedog's contact.

help sips is in my room-Tia

Quick as a flash, I push it back into my pocket as he turns round, throwing my bag onto the ground in disgust. "Don't you have any money? A phone?" he asks, exasperated. I shake my head numbly. He narrows his eyes. "Don't lie to me" he snarls, stepping forward like a cat about to pounce.

The door opens swiftly and Ridge appears. And I literally feel like I'm about to melt with relief.

Note: :DDD RIDGEDOG TO THE RESCUEEE

Ridgedog's POV

This week had been pretty bad, I had to admit. I had to sleep out on the corridor, and sneak a shower in Lewis' room when they were asleep. I spent all my time in the library, and I tried to hide when Tia came in.

I don't know why I hit her. I knew I had a few anger problems, to be honest, but I had no control over it. A guilty conscious kept me awake a lot at night, and I wanted to text an apology, but I knew that was just stupid and shy, and I needed to apologise in person. For taking all her friends away and letting people shove her around.

I felt like I needed to protect her now. I caused all of this, so I was responsible for it. I should be the one getting pushed, not her. All the time I heard Sips whispering plans to beat her up at the weekend, but I didn't believe him. She was a girl-he couldn't beat her up! Yet I had punched her in the face myself...

I hid myself in the library again, and opened the curtain anxiously as I watched Tia leave to go to town. She looked worried, and kept looking left and right. Probably looking for Sips.

About twenty minutes went by before I opened the curtain again to see Tia and Sips, with Sjin, Strippin and Duncan. Tia's gaze darted to the window for a moment and I flinch back, until I watch Sips throw a punch. I frown, stretching to look further out as Tia punches him back, then runs.

Should I go after her? I decide not to. She was fast, a lot faster than Sips, that was for sure. She'd be fine.

I go over to the table, sighing. Someone sits next to me, and I look up. It's Hannah. "What do you want" I grumble. "Look, Ridge, I haven't fallen out with Tia, it's just awkward because Ash has." she sighs. "I don't care, we aren't friends anymore" I snap. "You know that's not true" she says, exasperated. "How would you know?" I ask, glaring at her. She was annoying. "Because you've been staring at her outside of the window for the past hour" she points out and I scowl and look away. She was making me sound like a weird pervert.

Hannah leaves after a while of awkward silence, and then my phone beeps.

help sips is in my room -Tia

For a moment, I pause and frown as I re read the message. I stand up quickly and begin to make my way over to the stairs down the corridor to the dorm rooms. If she typed it with no capitals it meant it was urgent. And after seeing her being chased, this was not a good thing.

I finally get to her room and open her door to see her backed against a wall, frozen, and Sips slowly stalking towards her. She darts her gaze to me and seems to relax a little bit, which makes me feel a bit...proud for some reason. "Get out Sips" I say, my voice weirdly deep and huskier than normal. He spins round, glowering at me and goes into my face. Well, tries to. I'm a head taller than the black haired boy and I tower over him, glaring down at him. He does that stupid thing that guys do and puffs his chest out. I don't bother.

"Make me" he snaps. I move forward, forcing him backwards. "Now" I hiss. He glares at me for a moment, before looking over at the still frozen Tia. "This isn't over" he snaps, before dodging round me, and leaving.

As soon as the door clicks shut behind me, Tia breathes out a sigh of relief, and sits on her bed. Her hands are shaking and I gently sit next to her. I guessed this was a good time to apologise for hitting her.

"Hey. Um. I'm...y'know, sorry" I say awkwardly, slowly reaching out to pat her on the back. She just nods, walking over to check her bag and make sure nothing was missing. She was incredibly quiet for someone who was usually always insulting me.

When she sits back down, she just keeps looking down. The bruise that I left her had grown in size, and without thinking, I reach over and touch it with my hand. She looks over at me as I gently brush it, and she winces. I turn her head to me. "Does it hurt a lot?" I ask softly, and she nods, watching me warily.

"Want me to get you an ice pack or something?" I ask. She just shrugs, looking away as I pull my hand back. I walk into the bathroom, looking around until I find a towel, and I hold it under cold water before taking it over and dabbing her cheek. She flinches, groaning a little, but I hold her head firmly so she has to let me do it.

"Am I aloud to stay in your room again?" I ask when I'm done, folding the towel up and chucking it back onto the side of the bath. "Is that why you came and said sorry?" she mutters, and I grin-she sounded more like herself now. "No, I came to say sorry because we are friends and that's what friends do" I tell her, flopping down on the spare bed. "Friends don't punch each other in the face" she sighs, and I scowl. "I said sorry. And I didn't mean to" I protest. "What, so your fist just slipped?" she says, glaring weakly. I glare back. "I said-" I start, but she cuts me off. "Look, it doesn't matter anymore, I don't have any friends left so I guess I've got to take what I have left" I frown at her. "Thanks, I guess" I reply, and she looks over and smiles at me. "You're a good friend, really. But only when you aren't using me for a punching bag" she laughs weakly, wincing at her sore cheek.

I grin at her, and hold out my arms. She sits on my bed and we hug for a bit. "We have loads of time left. What do you want to do?" she muses. "Play Minecraft" I grin, and she rolls her eyes, reaching for her laptop.
