Chapter 6
Once Monika got home, she started to have a panic attack. Nothing would work with these damn bullies in her way. Even if she got together with Yuri, the bullies would target both of them.
"Guess I just have to... Delete them.."
Monika grew a devilish grin at the thought. Just upon the snap of a finger and poof, they're gone forever. It was perfect, but sadly impossible. This is Earth after all, not a video game. Yet the idea gave Monika the perfect poem idea, so there's that benefit.
To get rid of her panic, she started on her poem once she had gotten her thoughts somewhat together. Monika hoped it would give her a little relief from her current situation.
Delete
Some people look innocent, but are really two-sided
They're terrible, and stalk their prey like a lion
If only life were a game, and we could delete them
Deleting would give us the life we want
Deleting would give us the reality we wish we were in
Deleting would give us power
So save your life before your progress is gone!
Once Monika had made edits, she had her poem for the next meeting. She spent the rest of the night finishing homework and doing a few club papers. Before she went to sleep she had remembered Yuri and the festival. The anxiety hit when she realized Yuri got to be inside her house just tomorrow after school. It sent her on a high, which of course doesn't help her sleep.
"Maybe I can just..."
Monika, taken over completely by her high, rushed to the kitchen. She rummaged through the drawers until she found what she was looking for, a knife. Monika gentally gripped it by the handle, gazing at her reflection in the blade. It was so pristine and beautiful, just like Yuri. Monika never did much baking, so despite buying the knife intending to cook with it she never did. It came in more useful when Natsuki came over once. She used it because Monika didn't have any others, and still only has the one. That was the first and last time Natsuki was allowed to cook in Monika's house.
TRIGGER WARNING: SELF HARM
But it's Ddlc I'd hope you know it's a horror game by now.
Monika took herself and the knife to the couch, taking a seat and rolling up her sleeve. Without hesitation, Monika dug the blade into her arm. More than enough blood was on the knife, and even more was dripping from her wound.
"If that's just one, what harm could more do?"
Monika continued her actions, loving the rush she got with each push to dig deeper into her skin. By the end of her performance, she had a total of five cuts and lots of blood on her couch cousins and school skirt as well as the knife.
Trigger warning over, but yet again Ddlc is a horror game.
After banadaging wounds and cleaning up, she changed into her pajamas and got ready for bed.
The next day, Monika had brought the same knife to school with her just in case she needed it. Luckily it was rather small for a kitchen knife, and fit perfectly in her backpack like a puzzle piece. She also came prepared with a battle plan, for Yuri's bullies that is.
Monika hid behind the corner to hear Yuri in distress. She heard the bullies too, but Yuri meant more to Monika then the bullies. Gentally taking off her backpack and setting down, Monika peeked around the corner.
"They're... They're making her cut?!"
Her eyes sadly did not decieve her. Yuri was pinned to the wall with her underarms easily accessible by one, and the other had a pocket knife held up to her already bleeding arms.
"What do you think you're doing?" Monika stepped out from her hiding place.
"Oh great, her again. What'cha gonna do kid? Tell the principal?" The bully with the knife retorted.
"Monika what do you think you're doing..?" Yuri asked, fighting the strength of the other bully.
"I'm protecting y--." Monika was cut off when she was punched across the face by the knife bully.
"You're what now?" He shouted, kicking Monika to the ground and pressing a foot to her chest.
"I'm... Protecting.. Yuri!" Monika pushed as hard as she could, managing to push off the bully.
Panting, Monika lunged at the boy who was holding down Yuri. She managed to knock him off of her. She grabbed Yuri's hand quickly, grabbed each of their backpacks, and ran off down the hall.
After a run to the farthest bathroom and set up base there. They planned to stay until the first class had ended.
"You okay after that Yuri?" Monika asked once both girls were settled.
"I'm alright, what about you?" Yuri asked with a worried tone.
"Who cares?!" Monika asked, forgetting that they were basically hiding.
"I do!" Yuri said back with subtle shaking in her voice.
Before Monika knew it, Yuri was holding her close in a tight embrace.
"This can't be happening. She hates me. I'm just bothersome... But if I was then why would she hug me? Ugh love is confusing!"
Monika's mind was all over, but Yuri pulled away before Monika could 100% take in the situation.
"I-I'm sorry! I acted without thinking! I.." Yuri stammered, turning away and fiddling with a strand of hair.
Monika, who was suddenly overcome with confidence, wrapped her arms around Yuri from behind.
"I don't mind it Yuri... I am your Lil' Moni after all." Monika's voice was quiet and tender. Even Monika herself knew she had lost her marbles.
"Hey, whatcha y'all doing in here?"
Quickly letting go of Yuri, Monika stood up and turned around only to be face to face with the school janitor, or at least one of the many.
"Phew, you scared me there..." Monika sighed in relief.
She knew this janitor. This was Jada, and assisted in one of Monika's class skips before. They've been pretty close since then, and Monika knew Jada would never tell her off.
"Monika, whose this..?" Yuri asked just barely above a whisper as she also stood up and clinged to Monika's right arm.
"That's Jada. She's helped me out before, so don't worry about being caught." Monika assured, patting Yuri on the head.
"You need me to clean your criminal record again eh Monika?" Jada snickered.
"Yup, Yuri's too. We were escaping bullies before the first bell and well..." Monika explained.
"Sure explains why both of ya are all beaten up." Jada commented. "Now let me get you to the nurse huh? I'll explain the situation to her and you'll both be off the hook. Heck I bet you could get away with eatin' lunch with the janitors." Jada started heading towards the nurse office while Monika and Yuri grabbed their bags and started to follow.
"What happened to both of you?!?" The nurse shrieked when Yuri and Monika walked in alongside Jada.
"Long story, now get her fixed up first." Monika handed Yuri over to the nurse.
"Yuri comes first."
While waiting, Monika went into depth of how it really went down. Jada understood and promised to get the boys proper punishments.
Not much later Yuri walked out, all bandaged up and taken care of. Monika was next, and after that they decided to hang out in the nurse's office until the first class was over.
