{Chapter Fifty-Three}
》1989《
*Vince*
A year had passed and rehab was honestly no fun.
Feelings and crying and apologies... It was a drag.
But at least it got us in the studio.
Some of us left rehab earlier than others.
I was out first, followed closely by Mick, then Tommy and MJ were let out the same day, and soon Nikki was out, too.
MJ did explain to me the truth of her lost pregnancy, and its sad she wasn't able to have Razzle's baby, let alone even know about it until it was too late. However, I'm relieved that I wasn't the cause of her baby dying. Though with something like that, its sad that her chances od a family hang on a breaking thread. I really do hope she finds a way to have kids one day. She also forgave Mick for revealing the truth like that.
Mick had also forgiven me and agreed not to kill me for sleeping with MJ.
Mallory got better with everything since she left rehab. She has been clean from both alcohol and drugs just like all of us. She was still stuck on smoking a bit, but not as often as before, and has been cutting down a lot. She used to smoke like 2-3 packs a day, now its just down to like 2 sticks every 2 or 3 weeks, depending if she's on edge, which is now rarely.
She and Mick also made amends, and she started medical school but in Los Angeles, which wasn't long considering she had enough credits and a semester or two before being able to become a nurse practitioner, which she did, and has honestly been pretty happy and doing well.
She also came clean to Sharise about what happened between us, and thankfully Sharise forgave us, her especially. Though she wasn't happy, she was still glad we were honest and she didn't find out through anyone else.
Only weird thing was that MJ and Nikki never got together...
I guess they're just scared after everything, despite them still getting along now and not fighting or avoiding each other.
Nikki had started seeing this girl, Donna, but things didn't last long. Vanity tried getting back into his life, but he was strong and resisted her.
Seeing her though, did almost get to him, but he had MJ to help him.
MJ had also met Sebastian at an award show a few months after rehab and they hit it off pretty well.
She seems happy with him, and he treats her right.
He's a great guy and he and his band, Skid Row, are cool, too.
"Alright, Vin, one last time," Nikki said into the mic.
I nodded as I sipped some more water as he played the tape.
Ugh... I'm tired....
*Nikki*
I played the tape as Vince took a deep breath.

"What have we got here?" he said into the mic. "Come on girls!"
We watched as he started to sing, Tommy headbanging in his seat as the stuio intern came in with the water and snacks while .
"Yeah!" Tommy smiled as we watched Vince sing. "So rad, dude. So fucking rad. It's like we never recorded before!"
"She's got an alligator bag
Top hat to match
Dressed in black on black..."
"I mean, I've been on something every day since I was, like, 11 years old," I said to the guys as I watched Vince. "I didn't used to be able to feel anything, but now I feel everything."
"She's got a Philipino girlie
She claims is her friend
I tell you boys you just gotta laugh...!"
"Like dang, that is just painful," I said as I reached over and stopped the tape. "Hey, Vinnie."
Vince sighed as the music stops and looks over.
"Let's go again, buddy," I said. "Just wasn't your best, okay?"
"I'm just tired of singing the same thing ten times in a row, when it was fucking fine the first time," He snapped.
"Vince, this album is gonna be great, so let's just hang in there, buddy," I said.
"What, now you're sober, you're a perfectionist, too. Is that it?" he sassed.
"Yep," I said as I laid back.
"Roll the goddamn tape," he scoffed.
I pressed play and the music played.
"He'll get it, dude, he'll get it," I told the guys as they watched.
"She's got an alligator bag
Top hat to match
Dressed in black on black..."
"Better," I said as we listened.
"She's got a Philipino girlie
She claims is her friend
I tell you boys you just gotta laugh..!"
"Go Vinnie!!" I cheered on as me and Tommy held out devil horns at him, headbanging a bit.
"Now I used to call her Cindy
She changed her name to sin
I guess that's the name of her game....."
He smirked as he flipped us off while singing, making us laugh.
"You guys teasing Vinnie again?" a voice spoke and we turned to see Mal standing at the doorway, bags of food in her hands and a hand on her hip as she gave us a look.
"Hey," I smiled. "And no, we're just making sure the album comes out perfect."
"Uh-uh," she smirked, pulling out a bag of candy from the food bag and holding it up. "T-Bone, how many hours did he get last night?"
His eyes widen. "Four hours, tried fixing the chorus to Dr. Feelgood again!" he said as he snatched the candy, Mal giving me a look.
"Thanks, dick," I said to T-Bone as he enjoyed his candy.
"We taked about this. You need to sleep 8 hours, or else you'll exhaust yourself," she scolded as the intern offered her a water.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I scoffed with a laugh and rolling my eyes. "It was worth it, though. Take a listen."
I put the volume us as Vince sang while Mal handed the food bag to Mick.
"Introduced me to her lover
In a cellophane dress
Then they bid me a sweet farewell
Last time I saw them
They were kissing so softly
To the sound of wedding bells..."
Mal smiled and nodded her head to the music and I couldn't help but watch her.
Only downside to being sober is that me and her didn't end up being together. I guess we were both scared of hurting each other again, despite making up and leaving our past sins behind us.
She met Sebastian at an award show she came with us to, and they hit it off great. He treats her well, and honestly, I am happy for her, but I wish things worked out for both of us.
We are good friends, though, and honestly, i would take that over not having her in my life at all. I should be grateful for that.
"This is awesome!" she smiled, pulling me from my thoughts. "You guys just might have a Platinum here."
"Hope so! God, I can't wait until we tour again!" Tommy said happily.
"All in good time, Tommy," I laughed as I sipped some more water.
Mal chuckled then looked at her watch.
"Well, I sadly can't stay long. I gotta get going to lunch with Sebastian, and then back to the hospital. I'm helping with a class of interns today," she said.
"Good luck," I nodded as we shared a hug and she also hugged Mick and Tommy, waving at Vince who waved nodded his head at her as he kept singing.
I'm really glad that she's still in my life. If I didn't have Mal by my side after everything,
Mallory and I may not be together like we may have hoped, so long as shes happy, healthy, and being treated as she should be.
If she's happy, then I'm happy too.
.... Even if it does hurt....
*Mallory*
I walk out of studio, adjusting my coat as I spot Sebastian waiting by his car.
He waved over as I walked towards him.
"Hey babe," I smiled as I leaned in and kissed him.
"Hey," he smiled. "Ready?"
"Definitely. I'm starving," I smiled as he wrapped his arm around me as we headed to his car and driving off.
Meeting Sebastian was honestly out of the blue. We were at an award show after party, and while the guys did an interview, I was just sitting around just minding my own business when he came up to me, and we just started talking.
It wasn't long before we got together. He's a nice guy and treats me well, sweet, supportive, funny, cute, and caring of me.
He's also not the jealous type. In fact, and he gets along great with the guys, Vince and Nikki especially.
Though, Mick tends to scare him a little, in a protective kind of way.
Sebastian knows about the past before rehab, and I even told him about my life in Tuscon, and he doesn't care about the past, despite being upset I went through all of that before Los Angeles. He thinks the past is now the past and the present and future are important.
Rehabilitation wasn't easy, but we all managed to go through it.
I've stuck to being fully clean and sober ever since I left, my only exception being cigarettes every once in a while, but I've been trying to cut down.
So far the most that's helped curve my cravings for a smoke is either nicotine patches or gum.
I eventually went back to medical school, but considering they were able to transfer my credits from before, I only needed a few semesters and night classes to refresh my memory and before I knew it, I was starting as a nurse practitioner at Sunset General Hospital.
I do take some extra night classes and study time so I'm not too rusty.
I still backup sing for Mötley Crüe, and now also for Skid Row, but I also work as a tour nurse, mostly for Mötley (Just because they're now clean, doesn't stop them from injuring themselves, Tommy especially. Hehe.)
"So how's the album coming out for the boys?" Sebastian asked while he drove as I looked out the window.
"I got to listen to the sample they were working on. It sounds great!" I smiled. "This might just be their best album yet."
"That's awesome," he smiled. "Nikki finally got his sleep in like you told him?"
I laughed, playfully smacking his arm as he laughed. "Less than what I told him, but he got something."
After we all left rehab, Nikki felt more than inspired in writing songs for the Dr. Feelgood album. He was losing hours of sleep coming up on writing Kickstart My Heart and the song Dr. Feelgood, to which I helped him with, but have scolded him a couple of times, whenever he stayed up late writing.
Despite not being with him, Nikki and I managed a healthy friendship together. We look out for each other and help each other a lot.
I help him with songs and his photography, if he ever had an urge even the smallest urges he always calls me first before calling his sponsor, since he also joined a support group, just like I joined one as well.
I also helped him move to a new house. We figured the old house had some bad memories, and it was time for a change in perspective, and I helped him pick out a new house in a calm neighborhood.
Nikki is also there to help me whenever I have to study for tests or papers, or filling out reports (Its pretty funny when he tries to say medical terms. Hehe). He also helped clear my name a little, which wasn't necessary, but I'm thankful he did. He's even helped me a few times at the hospital, sometimes playing music for the kids in the children's ward. He also returns the favor and helps me whenever I have any urges whether for drugs or harming myself, or sometimes if I have a breakdown or anything like it.
Overall, things between us are great, probably better than ever. I'm glad he's still in my life and that both if us are in a good spot in our lives.
Yet... Why does my heart hurt....?
