Chapter 13 👩🏻

He lifted me up and made me sit on his desk by flipping our position. I looked at him expectantly to get an answer for my previous question but instead, he took my arms and wrapped it around his neck while he wrapped his arms around my waist. He leaned forward, giving me a sexy smile as if he was trying to distract me and I sighed at him annoyedly.

I just hate it when he always try to distract me from something just because I have a weak memory.

"It's okay if you don't want to buy me a phone. Please don't distract me like you do all the time. I really hate it! It's reminding me of my abnormality and also that you are taking advantage of it!" I yelled at him and he instantly pulled away from me, making my arms fall back on my sides.

"Hey, baby girl, that was not my intenti--" I cut him and continued.

"I need few answers from you, Veeranshu. Can I get them today without you distracting me?" He nodded at me and I sighed in relief. "Why did you marry me in the first place?" His eyes widened for a second but he quickly composed himself and cleared his throat. "I need an honest answer, Veeranshu."

"I-I liked you w-when the first time I saw you at Phoenix Home two months ago." He answered me nervously with his gaze focusing on a wall and my eyes widened upon the newly learned information.

"So it was not Sam who asked you to marry this pathetic person?"

"Shut up! Don't call yourself like that! And yes it was my mom who asked me to marry you. That was the reason why I came back to India after 10 years when mom told me about you. I came to see you at the Home and I instantly liked you the moment I saw you there. And a-after that I used to come there everyday to drop my mom and also to steal glances at you without your knowledge. I was impressed with your carefree attitude and you were always surrounded by the kids who would laugh at your cute jokes. I admired your attempts on making others happy and that's where I gave my approval to my mom." By the end of his explanation, I lost the count of how many times he made me gasp with his shocking revelation.

Oh Lord! This man was stalking me for a whole month and me being the ignorant dumbo ever, failed to notice that even when sometimes I felt like someone was watching me there.

I mentally facepalmed and turn to him to see him already staring at me. I quickly composed myself by giving him a stern look and continued with my questions. "Then why did you leave me right after our marriage without even giving me a chance to register your features in my brain?" I asked him and again he shifted his gaze away from me.

"I had an unsettled business there....and before you ask, let me tell you that I'm not going talk about it now. I will let you know when the right time comes but please don't ask me that question again." He said in an authoritative tone which was enough to shut me at that moment.

"Okay fine. Next, oh yeah what's next?"

Oops! I forgot the questions I had memorised to ask him.

"Are you done with yo--?" I cut him off, asking him to keep quiet.

"Shhhh! Don't interrupt me now!" I hit on his arm and he gave me an amused look. Ignoring him and his looks, I continued recalling the questions I had memorised by racking my brains.

Suddenly I remembered my next question and instantly asked him before he could distract me. "Yes I got it! This is the most important question and--" He interrupted me.

"Baby girl, what are you doing now? Is this any kind of--" I cut him as I didn't want to forget what I was about to ask.

"Wait... I don't get it why are we not behaving like a couple who tied the knot in an arranged marriage. I know that they used to be shy to even speak a word to each other but we have never gone through that situation at all. We are behaving as if we have known each other for years and we didn't feel any kind of awkwardness between us like other newly married couples feel. Like you know, I always felt comfortable with you ever since the day we started being together and even you also didn't show me any kind of discomfort while talking to me or touching me." I asked him the question which was bothering me since he came back from his mysterious trip but what I received from him was his laughter that made me to narrow my eyes at him. "Why are you laughing now?" I pouted at him angrily but he laughed more by looking at my face.

Am I looking like a joker to him? Why is he laughing on my face like that?

"Okay fine, laugh as much as you want. I'm leaving!" Saying that angrily, I jumped from the desk and walked towards the door but as I expected he grabbed my arm and pulled me into his arms. I looked up to see him gazing at me with a serious look on his face.

"What do you think of yourself, baby girl? You came here, asked few questions and even hit me violently in between and now you are just walking away as if nothing happened here." He asked in his husky voice which gave goosebumps to my sensitive skin.

"When did I hit you violently? I just hit you like this." I said, hitting him on his arm to show him a demo but he instantly grabbed my arm and locked it behind my back with his arm while looking into my eyes dangerously.

"No one was dared to raise their hands on me except my mom, you know?" He asked quite angrily and I flinched at his tone.

Omg, did I offend him by hitting him playfully?

"I-I'm s-sorry. I won't h-hit you again. I won't e-even touch you after t-this." I stuttered in fear as he was literally staring at me with his piercing brown eyes.

He took a deep sigh and smiled at me. "Baby girl, did you feel uncomfortable when you are hitting me?" He asked and I raised my eyebrow at me. "Just answer me, baby girl."

"No."

"Are you feeling uncomfortable being in my arms now?" He asked, showing our position with his eyes and I had no idea why did I blush at it. He smirked seeing my blush and I lowered my eyes. "Tell me. Are you feeling uncomfortable now?" He asked again and I shook my head no.

"No, I don't feel uncomfortable. In fact, I feel safe being in your arms." I blurted out and he chuckled, making me regret for not choosing the right words to express my thought.

"See, you are feeling safe with me and I'm more than comfortable and happy to take you in my arms then what's the problem now? Why do we need to feel awkwardness or discomfort in the first place? First of all, who told you that newly married couples behave that way?" He asked me and I bit my tongue not knowing how to answer him. I looked up to see him waiting for my answer and I decided to tell him the truth.

"Hmm actually I have watched in serials and read in books too that newly married couples behave all nervous and shy and it will take weeks or months for them to touch each other. Even they can feel sparks running through their body when they accidentally touch each other and also feel butterflies in their stomach whenever they look into each other's eyes but we are not feeling any such thing. Why? Are we different from the normal couples?" I pouted while asking hin and looked into his eyes only to see his eyes bulging out.

Did I say anything wrong? Why is he looking at me as if I've asked a Fairy Godmother to transform me into a Cinderella suddenly?

"Will you listen to me if I say something?" He finally opened his mouth and I nodded at him. "Stop watching serials and reading those crazy books." He ordered me and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Why?"

"Just do it. Don't ask me why." He said, loosing his grip around me and I stepped away from him.

"Okay bye. Go and treat your patients there." I told him angrily and walked to the door to open it but it was not opening. I turned to see him smirking at me while gesturing me to go back to him by showing his stretching arms. "Unlock the door."

"Cannot. You come here first."

"No. You unlock the door now. I need to go." I stomped my foot and walked to him as he was standing there with no intention of unlocking the door anytime soon.

"I'm exhausted by answering your questions already so come here and give me a hug." He said, spreading his arms wide and I shook my head vigorously as blood rushed to my cheeks. "Come here, baby girl." He pulled me, taking me into a bear hug that made me to stumble at my place but he managed to balance my body against his. "Hmmm I'm feeling so good now." Saying this, he nuzzled my neck and I finally let my arms to wrap around his torso.

We were staying in each other's embrace when suddenly we heard a knock on the door that made me startled for a second. I tried to break the hug but he was not cooperating with it. "Leave me. Someone is knocking the door."

"Leave that and focus on your husband first, kitten." He said, tightening the grip around me more if possible. He was almost choking me and I started hitting on his back asking him to loosen his grip to which he did obediently.

"Are you trying to kil--" The words stuck in my throat listening to his next sentence.

"Let's go for a date tonight." He said and I gaped at the wall. How could he just say that so casually? My heart skipped a bit hearing him.

"Huh?"

"Let's go for a date tonight, baby girl. It's our 1st monthsary and we should celebrate it." He said, breaking the hug. I was about to say something but someone at the door started knocking it impatiently. "Fuck! Who the hell is that?" He groaned, glaring at the door.

Fuck? I have heard Roshan saying this word a few times. What does that mean?

"Veeru ji.... Oops!" I covered my mouth with my palm when his piercing eyes shifted from the door to me. "I'm sorry. But Veeranshu, what does that mean?" I asked and he frowned.

"What?"

"Just now you said 'fuck'. What does that mean?" I asked him and the next moment his eyes widened as if he was shocked listening to my question. "Tell me. Why does that mean? Is it a word to express anger?" I pouted at him to show him my puppy face to which he chuckled and caressed my hair.

"Nothing, kiddo. Nothing. Just forget it." He chuckled again making me frown at him and I wanted to force him to answer me but the impatient soul out there was literally banging on the door and my husband groaned before pressing a button in a device that was on the desk.

Wow it's nice. We don't have to walk to the door to open it and we can open it fro---

My train of thought was stopped abruptly hearing a male voice which echoed in my ears.

"Hello, my dear brother-in..... Shit!" The person shut his mouth instantly when his gaze fell on me. I stared at him while trying to observe his features as I felt like I had seen him somewhere before. He gave me a mischievous smile and walked towards me to which I moved closer to my husband and held his hand. He stopped there seeing my husband's arm wrapped around me protectively.

"What the hell are you doing here? Who gave you the rights to bang on my cabin door like a caveman? What happened to that useless bodyguards out there?!" My husband roared at him like a lion and even I flinched at his tone but that person in front of us was grinning at him like an idiot.

"Hi, Bani. How are you? Do you remember me?" He asked, looking at me and I tried to recall when and where did I see him before. Looking at my confused face, he smiled and continued, "I think you don't remember me. I'm Siddharth, Anusha's friend. Remember I came to your mansion like 3 weeks ago with Anu?" He introduced himself and my eyes widened upon realisation.

"Oh yes, I remember you now. Sid, right? Anu has told me a lot about you. I had even thought of meeting you once but after that it totally slipped out of my mind." Saying this, I tried to go near him for a handshake but my husband grabbed my arm to stop me.

"You go back home now." He ordered me and I pouted at him. I turned to see Sid glaring at my husband.

"But I want to ask him--"

"I said now! James! Robert!" My husband shouted the bodyguards' names and the next second the giants were in front of our eyes. "Take her back home safely." He curtly ordered at them and they nodded at him.

I looked at Sid to see him smiling at me. I really wanted to talk to him as I felt like he knew something about my past but my arrogant husband wasn't letting me to do so. I glared at my husband angrily and stomped my foot. "Bye!" I said rudely and turned to leave.

"Bye, Bani. See you soon." It was Sid and I gave him a polite smile before walking away with the giants without glancing back at my rude husband.

We were going back home in the car when I saw an ice cream parlour by the roadside. "James?" I called but honestly I didn't know who was James and who was Robert between the two bodybuilders. Thankfully the person on the driver seat responded to me so I concluded that he was the James.

"James, can you take me to the ice cream parlour there?" I asked and both of them looked at each other.

James pulled off the road and unbuckled his seatbelt. I frowned as he was not taking u-turn since we had already passed the parlour. "Let me call the Boss and ask his permission first, mam." James said, making me control the urge of giving a hard punch on his face.

Why do I need your Boss's permission when it's my stomach which is asking for the ice cream? I can't even have an ice cream peacefully without that arrogant man's permission.

"Okay, Boss." He cut the call and turned to me. "Mam, he gave me his permission but on a condition. You aren't allowed to step out so let me know the flavour and I will get it for you." He said, making me groan in vexation and he started driving back to the parlour.

We reached there and he was about to get down but I stopped him. "James, I appreciate your sincerity towards your duty and your Boss but please let me live in peace. It's just an ice cream so let me go and get it myself!" I yelled at him frustratedly and again the two giants looked at each other. I wondered how they were making eye contact with those specs on. "Please. If you don't let me go now, I swear I will call your Boss's mother and complain to her about you both. I'm sure you guys would lose your jobs today." I threatened them, mentally praying to God that they shouldn't be aware of the fact that I didn't have a phone with me.

"Okay mam but we will follow you there." It was Robert who said that and I sighed in exasperation before climbing down the car.

The moment I stepped into the ice cream parlour, all the heads snapped towards my direction and I was drown into the pool of awkwardness for taking two bodyguards into a small parlour.

Oh come on, no one is going to appear in front of me and point their gun at me out of the blue for these two giants to follow me like my tail.

Rolling my eyes, I ignored them and walked to the counter to order my favourite mint ice cream with extra choco chips as topping. "Do you want ice cream, James and Robert?" I asked them and they curtly refused. "No, tell me what you want. I can't eat here alone with you guys staring at me like this. I don't want to get stomach pain later for not sharing my food so better each of you place your orders now." I demanded them and again for the third time of the day, they looked at each other for a moment before answering me.

"No mam, you can have your ice cream. We will wait for you outside until then." Robert said and both the giants left the place. I sighed in relief as I finally got some air to breathe without those two bodybuilders blocking my oxygen supply.

I started devouring my yummy minty ice cream by taking my sweet time as it was helping me to cool my system which was burning with frustration that caused by my beloved husband. Finishing the first cup, I was about to order the next one when someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned to see a girl with a sexy short dress that only covered her feminine assets and 5 inch heels that made her already tall frame to look more intimidating. She gave me an extra sweet smile when I raised my eyebrow at her.

She opened her mouth to say something but James and Robert immediately rushed towards me and blocked me from that girl. "Mam, are you alright?" Robert asked and I nodded at him, controlling the urge to roll my eyes at their over-protectiveness. They turned to her and started interrogating her but she was completely taken aback with their sudden appearance.

"Guys, you both are scaring her." I huffed at them and turned to her. "Yes, how may I help you?" I asked the girl who was looking like a witch with her long nails painted in black.

She cleared her throat and gave me a sweet smile again. I was definitely getting bad vibes from her but I decided to put that thought aside first. "Hi, Bani. I know that you don't know me but I know you well. In fact, I'm here to talk to you about your..." She glanced at the bodyguards and gulped before turning to me. "....Hmm can we talk alone please? I don't feel comfortable with them here." She requested and I asked the two of them to go and stand a little far away from us to which they obeyed like good boys.

"How do you know me? What's your name?" I asked her.

"Bani, my name is not important now. I'm here to warn you about the unknown danger around you." She said with her big eyes which were literally scaring my poor soul.

"Unknown danger? What are you talking about?" I chuckled in disbelief.

"Listen, I know you are not going to trust me but you have to do it because you are not safe at your husband's place. Don't trust that Veeranshu and his family. Especially his mom because--" That's it! I banged my palm against the table and got up from there angrily the moment she mentioned about my Sam. James and Robert tried to come to me but I showed my hand to stop them.

"I don't care who you are but stop talking nonsense about my family! You don't have any rights to talk about them! Mind you, this is the last time I'm seeing you and never ever show your face to me again!" I yelled at her and took a step to walk away but the next sentence I heard from her made me stand rooted to the spot.

"You don't remember your past that's why you are behaving like this." I turned to see her smirking at me.

"What do you mean?" I asked, going back to settle on my seat. I didn't know why but my heart was asking me to leave from that place immediately but my mind insisted me to stay there and listen to her. After a short battle between my heart and my mind, the latter finally won and I decided to hear her out once.

"I know everything about you, your past, present and even I can say what will happen in your future too, Bani. Listen to me carefully. Don't believe those people who you are referring as your family. They are creating an illusion for your eyes. They are maintaining a facade of genuineness around you but whatever you are witnessing since the past 1 month is not the truth. That's not the reality." She paused, looking for an expression on my face as I was just maintaining a blank look there. "You are not believing me right?" She asked and I smirked at her.

Thank God, she has proved that God had inserted something called brain inside her skull.

"Who are you? Don't tell me you are a witch.. I mean a sorceress who came in disguise to brainwash me." God I really needed to take care of my tongue. It was pronouncing words without my permission.

She looked like she was offended and I could see her getting annoyed but she quickly composed herself and gave me a pathetic smile which I hated the most. "You are too innocent, Bani. Too innocent to survive in this cruel world. You won't understand what I'm saying now as they have brainwashed you too much. But let me tell you something. Your husband will--" I stopped her as I didn't want to listen to her nonsense anymore.

"Enough! You have no rights to say a word about my husband! Do you get that?" I whisper-yelled at her.

"Girl, listen to me first. Your husband will never love you as his heart, body and soul everything belongs to Jaanu only." I gasped hearing her and my heart skipped a beat with the mention of Jaanu.

"W-what do y-you m-mean?" I asked, gasping for air as suddenly I felt it difficult to even take a single breath.

"From your expression, I can guess that you already know about Jaanu but I don't know how much you know about her. Let me tell you that. Jaanu, I mean Jaanvi Rajput is the first wife of your husband. They were married 6 years ago and very soon she will be back into his life again."

That was the last thing I heard and before I knew, I was already in the car going back to the mansion, to the family which was never mine.

Phew, I've finally managed to give a long chapter. This is an early compensation sweethearts, as I wouldn't be able to update until next Friday due to my tight schedule.

In the next chapter, you guys will get another hint of their past as there's going to be a confrontation between Veer, Sid and another person. Keep guessing who is that person and I will be back on next Friday 😉
