"Th-thank you for walking me home, Iwaizumi senpai." You stopped in front of the gate to your house.
"It's no problem. See you tomorrow." Iwaizumi nodded his head as a short and casual gesture of further saying farewell.
"G-good night." You lightly smiled, quite sheepishly yet still feeling grateful.
It was casual and comfortable enough for you to have Iwaizumi finish walking you home after parting from the rest of the team. Aside from manners or being a gentleman, it became a daily routine after practice. You grew accustomed to walking together in the comfort of his presence to the point where you didn't have to exaggerate choppy actions or gestures.
Iwaizumi waited until you passed through the tall gate that beat him in height. He sighed, suddenly conscious about his insecurity of wanting to be taller.
"Just 1cm more... or 7mm, at least...!" Iwaizumi muttered under his breath, a scowl taking over his face as he retreated from the front of the house.
Inside the house, you immediately hurried to upstairs your room to put away your bag and changed into some comfortable clothes. You slipped over a (f/c) colored hoodie, tied back your (h/c) hair, and went down to the kitchen.
You quickly whipped up a simple and light yet hearty dumpling soup with your wifey skills. (;o) Satisfied, you opened the fridge and took out a peach flavored drink. (Something Oikawa wishes he has 😔😂) You walked over to the sofa and blankly stared at the still TV.
'How long has it been?' You hummed, taking a sip and closing your eyes shortly after.

"(Y/n). I'm home."
You jumped off the sofa, surprised at the disturbance of the silence and placed the bottle onto the kitchen counter as you passed through to the entrance.
"Welcome back home dad!" You beamed, an awkward smile adorning your face since you haven't seen your dad in some time.
The two of you made your way to the dining area, where you served two bowls of dumpling soup. You stared into the bowl, unsure of what to say or what to do. Your conversation skills are not the greatest as of now even if you were just talking to your dad.
"Your grandmother left on a trip a couple of weeks ago. Have you been doing alright by yourself?" Your dad asked, his stoic tone bringing a sense of familiarity.
"Y-yeah! I'm alright. How was your business trip?"
"It was alright."
.........
You weren't on bad terms with your dad, but it was rather the fact that he isn't that much of a talker and you became like so at some point.
The rest of the conversations at the dining table were kept to a minimum. You washed the dishes while he retrieved his luggage and met back in the living room.
"(Y/n), your grandmother told me that you became a manager for the volleyball team."
"Urk...!" You froze, your limbs stiff and stuck in a polite manner. "Y-yeah..." You hesitantly answered.
You originally were going to have your dad sign your application form, but he was away on a business trip, which he had just gotten back from. You asked your grandmother instead, which was helpful since you were hesitant to talk to your dad about the topic.
"Sigh... " He hung his head down and placed his hand to his forehead.
"... S-sorry..." You muttered loudly enough for him to comprehend it. You hung your head down and tightly squeezed your clasped hands.
"... No. You have nothing to apologize for." He patted your head in comfort, showing that he was not angry with you. "Is this what you really want?"
"... I..." Your eyes watered, the salty tears prickling over the waterline of your eyes. "I t-try to stay away, but I-I... I can't help b-but miss it..."
"I understand..." He let out a soft sigh and awkwardly patted your back as you quietly cried out the rest of the tears. "If you ever feel the need to, you can quit whenever or we can move schools or to a different district."
"A-alright..." You nodded your head and wiped away the tears around your eyes. You sniffled your nose and took a deep breath. You shook your head when he handed over your inhaler. "I'm okay..."
He nodded his head in understanding and placed the inhaler onto the coffee table. Sure it was difficult to breathe since the tension around your chest to the confession you made was something quite impactful and something that was eating you up, but you didn't feel the desperate need to rely on it.
"The doctor called me and said that it's best if we transfer to another clinic. But for now from your recent visit, try not to strain yourself. I'll call the school to inform your PE coach and the volleyball coach."
"Mm." You simply nodded your head, unable to say much to respond to that.
"Here. A souvenir." Your dad stood up from the sofa and walked over to his opened luggage, trying his best to shift the topic.
You took the narrow box into your hand and opened the lid.It was a custom-made and lightweight (f/c) pen.
"Since your grandmother told me that you became a manager, I thought you would need it."
"Haha, thank you dad!" You cracked a smile, thankful for his gift. Though it was simple, it was a small token of thoughtfulness coming from your awkward and stoic dad.
"It's a school night. You should try to sleep."
"Mm. Good night." You bowed your head and headed back upstairs. You entered your room and carefully placed the wooden pen case into your school bag.
'I can't wait to use it tomorrow...' You changed into some comfy PJs and slipped under the covers. With a small sigh, both relieved yet solemn, you closed your now swollen eyes.
'I don't want to be a burden and move again...'
"But I also don't want to become a burden for the team..." You frowned in your sleep, a pit of discomfort forming in your chest.
A/N
