Chapter 9
Recap: Aryan calls for meeting on new product launch
*******************
Sanjana arrived at the office early, eager to ensure that everything was in place for the important meeting ahead. It was her first official meeting since joining ARC, and she wanted to make a strong impression. She meticulously arranged the files, checked the projector setup, and ensured the conference room was ready for the discussion.
Just as she was finishing up, Ranjith walked in, scanning the room with a satisfied nod.
"Sanjana, is everything set for the meeting?" he asked, his tone carrying a mix of curiosity and authority.
"Yeah, everything is ready, bro," Sanjana responded with a confident smile.
"Good. Did you have breakfast?" he inquired, his concern evident.
She chuckled slightly. "Of course, I had, brother. Don't worry about me."
Ranjith nodded approvingly. "Fine then, I'll see you in the conference room soon."
Just as he left, Sanjana's phone rang. It was Aryan.
"Yes, Aryan?" she answered promptly.
"Where are the files for the meeting?" his voice was as crisp and direct as ever.
"Already on your table," she replied.
"Good. Since this is your first official meeting, I want you to take the minutes and send me a detailed report afterward."
"Understood," she confirmed.
"Alright, let's move," he instructed.
Aryan walked ahead with his usual composed demeanor, and Sanjana followed him, keeping pace. They entered the elevator, riding in silence until they reached the conference floor. As soon as Aryan stepped into the hall, the entire team stood up as a mark of respect. Sanjana took her seat beside Aryan, while Vinay prepared to begin his presentation.
Across the room, Manasi's eyes were fixed on Aryan, admiration gleaming in her gaze. Meanwhile, Daniel had his attention completely diverted, his eyes glued to Sanjana, oblivious to the ongoing discussions. Aryan, ever observant, noticed Daniel's distracted state and narrowed his eyes.
"Let's begin," Aryan announced, signaling Vinay to start his presentation.
Vinay efficiently navigated through the slides, explaining the strategy and data for the upcoming product launch. Sanjana diligently took notes, jotting down key points and ensuring nothing was missed. However, Aryan's attention kept shifting to Daniel, who seemed more interested in staring at Sanjana than paying attention to the presentation.
After a few minutes, Aryan's patience wore thin.
"Vinay, you can stop for a moment," Aryan interrupted, his tone firm. "The data is acceptable. Proceed with recruitments and ensure the marketing team has a strong backup to handle unforeseen circumstances."
He then turned his gaze towards Daniel, who was still lost in his own world, staring dreamily at Sanjana. Aryan's sharp voice cut through the room like ice.
"Mr. Daniel."
Daniel snapped out of his trance, blinking rapidly as he realized Aryan was addressing him. "Sir..."
Aryan's expression was cold, his voice carrying an unmistakable warning. "We are in an important meeting regarding the launch of a new product. If you're not interested, you may leave. I can always find someone more professional to take your place."
The room fell into an awkward silence. Daniel straightened in his seat, suddenly alert. "I apologize, sir. I will continue with my presentation."
Aryan gave him a measured look. "I expect nothing less than complete professionalism inside my office. Nothing other than that. Now, proceed."
Daniel swallowed hard and quickly resumed his presentation, focusing on his work rather than on Sanjana. Manasi followed next, delivering her part with confidence. Once the presentations were completed, Aryan leaned back slightly and assessed the discussions.
"That was good," he finally said. "Ranjith, work with them and finalize the necessary steps for the product launch. This product should not only be the best in our lineup but should dominate the cosmetic industry."
"Understood, sir," Ranjith affirmed.
"Once the product is introduced, I need immediate feedback from direct customers. I want to know how it's performing in real-time," Aryan added.
"I'll ensure you get all necessary reports, sir," Daniel quickly responded, trying to redeem himself.
"Sir, I'm confident our product will create a massive impact in the market and generate substantial profits," Manasi chimed in enthusiastically.
Aryan nodded slightly. "Let's hope so. Alright, let's wrap this up."
He stood up, signaling the end of the meeting. The team dispersed, and Aryan walked out, with Sanjana once again following him to their floor. However, just before entering his room, he signaled Ranjith to follow him. Understanding the unspoken command, Ranjith immediately complied, shutting the door behind him as they stepped into Aryan's room.
"Ranjith, I want you to keep a close watch on Daniel," Aryan said in a firm, low voice.
Ranjith, who had anticipated this conversation, nodded in agreement. "Yes, sir. I've already noticed his behavior. He flirts with almost every female employee in our office," he replied, his voice laced with slight disapproval.
Aryan's jaw tightened at this revelation. "Everybody?" he asked, his tone sharp, as if he needed to confirm the gravity of the situation.
"Yes, sir," Ranjith affirmed. "I've seen him on multiple occasions getting distracted in meetings and focusing more on unnecessary conversations with female employees rather than his actual work. Today was just another example.
" Keep a close watch on him " Aryan said the scene from the conference room still replaying his mind.
Ranjith gave a firm nod, understanding the weight of Aryan's words. "Consider it done, sir. "
Sanjana and Pavi made their way to the cafeteria for lunch. As they settled at a table, Daniel and Manasi approached, taking seats beside them.
Manasi smiled, tilting her head slightly. "Hi, Sanjana. Are you comfortable working with Aryan?"
Sanjana met her gaze with a calm smile. "Yes, Manasi. I've settled in quite well. Also, I've learned how to handle people who play double games."
Manasi stiffened momentarily, her fingers gripping the fork in her hand. She didn't respond immediately.
Sanjana raised an eyebrow. "What happened, Manasi? You seem unusually quiet."
Manasi quickly shook her head. "Nothing, Sanjana. You guys carry on, I have some work to do."
Without another word, she stood up and walked away briskly.
Pavi chuckled softly, leaning closer to Sanjana. "Looks like she got caught."
Sanjana smirked. "Hmm, yes. Tried to play her game against me."
Pavi nodded seriously. "Be careful with her, Sanjana."
"Let her do whatever she wants. I can handle her," Sanjana replied confidently.
Daniel, who had been quietly observing, suddenly leaned in with a grin. "Sanjana, shall we go for coffee today?"
Sanjana glanced at him. "You want coffee? Then why not have it right here?"
Daniel chuckled. "Hey, come on. I'm asking for a coffee date."
Sanjana frowned. "Date?"
"Yeah, just a coffee or maybe dinner," Daniel shrugged casually.
Sanjana's expression hardened. "Daniel, stop flirting, okay? I'm not the one you're looking for. Stay away from me. That would be better for you. Pavi, let's go."
Sanjana and Pavi got up and walked away, leaving Daniel staring after them with an amused smirk.
Just as they reached their workplace, Ranjith approached them. "Sanjana, is Daniel troubling you?"
Sanjana waved off his concern. "No, brother. He's just a maniac who was asking me out for a coffee date."
Ranjith's eyes narrowed. "What? He asked you out?"
Sanjana groaned. "Oh my god, please don't let your sir know about this. I already warned Daniel to stay away from me."
Ranjith sighed. "Next time, if he tries anything, you should call me immediately."
Sanjana nodded. "Fine."
Just then, Aryan's voice came over the intercom. "Sanjana, come to my cabin."
She took a deep breath and walked to his office. As she stepped inside, Aryan leaned back in his chair, watching her carefully. "Are you comfortable in our office? Do you have any problems with anybody?"
Sanjana's mind raced. Why is he asking this? Could it be possible that he knows about Daniel?
Keeping her expression neutral, she replied, "No problem. I'm just busy with work."
Aryan's gaze remained steady. "How about the people?"
Sanjana shrugged. "I haven't mingled much, so I'm not sure."
Aryan nodded thoughtfully. "Hmm, okay."
Sanjana turned to leave, but Aryan's voice stopped her. "Sanju, darling..."
Sanjana spun around, pointing a warning finger at him. "Don't call me 'darling,' okay?"
Aryan smirked. "Stay away from certain people for some time."
Sanjana crossed her arms. "You never reveal the reason. You only know how to boss me around, am I right?"
Aryan leaned forward, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Sweetheart, you should listen to me. And you know something? You look damn beautiful when you're angry." He winked at her.
Sanjana clenched her fists. "Shut your dirty mouth, Aryan."
She stormed out of his cabin, covering her face in frustration. Just then, Manasi, who had reached the floor, saw her flustered expression and froze. Her eyes widened as suspicion flared in her mind. Was Sanjana blushing?
Manasi turned on her heels and rushed to find Daniel. She spotted him near his desk. "Daniel, come with me to the cafeteria. I need to tell you something important."
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "What's so urgent?"
They reached the cafeteria, and Manasi quickly whispered, "Dany, I saw Sanjana coming out of Aryan's cabin."
Daniel scoffed. "What's the big deal? She's his PA. Naturally, you'd see that."
Manasi rolled her eyes. "Idiot. She looked different—like she was blushing. Something is going on."
Daniel leaned in, intrigued. "Seriously?"
"Hmm," Manasi nodded. "I need to clear her from my way. After all, I've been waiting to get with Aryan for two years. I know you're interested in her, so help me get her away from him."
Daniel smirked. "Fine, I'll help you. We'll plan something."
Manasi's eyes gleamed. "Good. Act quickly before it's too late."
"Don't worry," Daniel assured her. "Do as I say, and we'll finish this work by today itself."
By evening, as Sanjana walked toward her car, Daniel intercepted her. He pretended to stumble, reaching out to grab her shoulder for support.
"Sorry, Sanjana," he said, feigning innocence. "I lost my balance."
Sanjana narrowed her eyes. "Daniel, I'm warning you for the last time. Stay away from me." Her voice was sharp, filled with irritation.
Daniel put his hands up in defense. "Cool, Sanjana. I didn't do it on purpose. It happened accidentally. You're misunderstanding me."
Sanjana scoffed. "I don't care who you are, and I don't have time to think about you to misunderstand anything. It's simple, stay away from me. It's for your own good."
Daniel sighed dramatically. "Sanjana, I think you're in a bad mood. We'll talk tomorrow."
Sanjana shook her head. "I'll be the same anytime you talk to me. So, better be professional."
Without another word, she got into her car and drove off.
From a distance, Manasi emerged, clutching her phone. She smirked, showing Daniel the pictures she had clicked of him holding Sanjana's shoulder.
"Perfect," Daniel murmured, his eyes glinting. "Now we'll send this to our office members—especially Aryan. He already hates girls. Once he sees this, he'll chase her away."
Manasi grinned. "Good. Do it immediately."
Daniel shook his head. "Not now. Tomorrow morning. When she enters the office, everyone will look at her differently. She'll be marked as mine."
Manasi chuckled. "Congrats, Daniel."
Daniel gazed at the photo, a twisted smirk playing on his lips. "Wait for the show tomorrow. Aryan will never want to keep her with him after seeing this picture."
He whispered under his breath, "You will be mine, Sanjana baby."
