Chapter - 79
Recap: Vivaan Marries Maya and the doctor operate Maya
***********
After eight long hours of unconsciousness due to the effects of the medicine, Maya slowly opened her eyes. The nurse noticed her movement and immediately informed the doctor, who arrived at the ICU within minutes. She also informed those waiting outside, who had been anxiously hoping for Maya to regain consciousness. Though relieved, everyone felt nervous—uncertain of what Maya would remember and how she would react.
The doctor entered the ICU and checked her vitals. Everything seemed stable. He pulled a chair next to her bed and began gently.
"Hello, Ms. Maya. Can you hear me?"
Maya gave a faint nod.
"Good. How do you feel?" he asked.
"Good," she whispered.
"Fine. Whom do you want to meet, Maya?"
"Vi... Vi... Viva... Vivaan," she replied, her voice soft and fragile.
"Who is he?" the doctor asked, leaning forward.
"Love..." Maya murmured.
"And who else do you remember?"
"Dad... Brother..."
"I'll call Vivaan. But don't strain yourself. He'll visit for a few minutes and then leave. You need rest. Is that okay?"
"Okay..." Maya nodded.
The doctor stepped out, and everyone rushed toward him.
"How is she, doctor?" Naren asked anxiously.
"She's doing good. She remembers only her father, brother, and Vivaan."
Aryan and Naren exhaled in relief and hugged each other.
"She wants to meet Vivaan," the doctor added.
"I'll meet her," Vivaan said, stepping forward.
"Remember, don't go into much detail. Just speak a few comforting words and come out. She needs more rest."
"Sure," Vivaan nodded.
Aryan and Naren patted his shoulder and reminded him, "No detailed talks. Just keep it light."
Vivaan entered the room quietly. Maya's eyes welled up with tears as soon as she saw him. He sat next to her, held her hand gently, and kissed her knuckles.
"I love you. How do you feel?" he asked softly.
"Good. What happened to me?" Maya blinked at him.
"Nothing serious, just an accident. But you're safe now, and back with me."
"Love you..." she murmured.
Vivaan's eyes welled up. He was unable to hold back his tears after hearing those words.
"Don't strain yourself. I'm just outside. You need to rest now," he said.
"Stay with me," Maya pleaded.
"I'll be right outside. Doctor said I can't stay long. But I'll come often to see you," he reassured her.
He kissed her forehead and left the room. Once outside, he hugged Naren.
"She told me she loves me," he said, overwhelmed. Everyone felt joy and relief hearing that.
Naren turned to the others. "You all have waited long enough. Please go home and rest."
Everyone agreed and left—except Pavi, who insisted on staying. Vivaan also chose to remain.
Later that night, Aryan returned home. Sanju was already asleep. He moved quietly, freshened up, and went down to eat a little dinner. Returning to the bedroom, he lay next to Sanju and hugged her from behind. She stirred awake slightly.
"Did you have dinner?" she asked sleepily.
"Hmm. Sorry I was late," he replied.
"How is Maya?"
"She's doing well. She remembers Naren, her father, and her lover, Vivaan."
"She doesn't remember you?"
"No. She even confessed her love to Vivaan. He married her before she went in for the operation. We've framed it as if they got married three years ago."
"Are we being cruel to her by doing this?" Sanju asked, concerned.
"No, we're giving her a good life. She won't be the obsessed Maya anymore. In a way, we're helping her."
"Hmm... So, all the problems are solved in our life?"
"Yes. Everything's sorted. In just a few more days, Maya will be completely normal."
"I'm so happy, Aryan."
Sanju turned to hug him, but her baby bump made it difficult. She turned away, pouting.
"Now I can't even hug you," Aryan grumbled.
Sanju chuckled as he placed wet kisses on her nape.
"Aryan, stop. I want to sleep."
"Fine, I won't disturb you."
He hugged her tightly, and they both drifted to sleep.
The next morning, as they were getting ready, Aryan received a call from his doctor regarding his parents' health.
"Sanju, we're going out after breakfast."
"Where?"
"You'll know once we get there," he replied mysteriously.
After breakfast, they drove to a hospital. Sanju looked confused.
"My check-up isn't today, Aryan."
"I know. We're here for something else."
He held her hand as they took the private elevator to the VIP ward floor. Standing before a room, Aryan squeezed her hand and smiled before opening the door. Inside, Sanju stood frozen in shock, tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks.
"Aryan...?" she gasped.
"Come, let's go near them," Aryan said.
Devika and Vishnu were awake, able to move their hands and legs. They looked at Aryan, then Sanju, eyes questioning.
"Amma, Appa... she's Sanjana. My wife. Your daughter-in-law."
Devika and Vishnu smiled warmly. Devika signaled Sanju to come near. Sanju walked over, and Devika touched her head and then her baby bump, silently asking how far along she was.
"I'm in my seventh month now," Sanju replied.
Sanju then touched their feet and took their blessings. Devika held her hand tightly, not wanting to let go.
"I can call you amma, appa... right?" Sanju asked.
They both nodded happily.
"Amma, Appa, I've spoken to the doctor. In a few days, you'll even start speaking."
Sanju stayed to feed them small bites and took care of them. After they had their medicine and fell asleep, Aryan and Sanju returned home.
"Aryan, where were they all this time?" she asked.
"Chandrasekar had them hostage in his secret cell. He drugged them to stop their mobility. Our doctor is giving them the antidote. They'll recover soon."
"Why was he so venomous toward amma and appa?"
"I don't know. Before I could get answers, he died. Only amma and appa can tell us now."
"He shouldn't have died so easily after everything he did. I haven't seen an animal like him in human form."
Aryan gently side-hugged her. Sanju whispered, "We should give amma and appa all the love they missed all these years."
"We will," Aryan promised. "Now I have work at the office. I'll drop you on the way."
"Hmm, okay," she nodded.
Meanwhile, Maya had been moved from ICU to a normal room. The doctor visited her to test her memory.
"Maya, shall we have a small discussion?"
"Yes, doctor."
"Can you tell me what you remember so far?"
"I finished college and was helping dad in business."
"What about Vivaan?"
"We're in love for the past three years. He cares a lot for me."
"Did your dad accept your love?"
"I haven't spoken to dad about it yet."
"Do you get any flashes of getting married to Vivaan?"
"No..."
"Maya, listen. You and Vivaan were married three years ago. Your father didn't want him as a son-in-law, so you both kept it private. Two months ago, your father accepted your marriage and wanted to give you both a grand wedding. But before that could happen, you met with an accident and lost memories of the last three years."
"I'm... married?" Maya asked, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Just then, Vivaan entered. He pulled out the nuptial chain hidden beneath her clothing and showed it to her. Maya's eyes widened.
"Vivaan, I'm sorry... I don't even remember our marriage," she cried.
"It's okay, Maya. You remember our love, and that's enough for me."
The doctor continued, "This was the important truth I wanted to share. There's more, but we'll reveal it slowly."
"Please tell me, doctor. I need to know. Please," Maya pleaded.
"You have to be strong. You're in a tough phase of life. Don't panic."
"Yes, please tell me..."
"You lost your father and your unborn child in the accident."
Maya broke down sobbing. Vivaan hugged her tightly.
"Maya, please don't cry. It may hurt your health. I just got you back from a battle between life and death. Please don't cry..."
The doctor administered a sedative to help her sleep and left the room. He called Aryan and Naren to inform them that their plan had been fully executed. The news brought them instant relief.
Vivaan sat beside Maya, holding her hand, and whispered, "I'll stay with you forever. No matter what."
Naren, on hearing everything, felt a weight lift from his heart. Finally, his sister had a second chance at life and love.
