Chapter - 69
Recap: Maya meets with an accident
****************************
Sanju sat quietly on the couch as she entered their room. Aryan followed behind, but instead of sitting beside her, he dropped to the floor in front of her and gently clutched her hands in his. He looked up, lifting her face with his fingers so her eyes met his.
"Sanju, she is lying. Don't believe her," he pleaded, his voice trembling.
Sanju didn't need convincing. She brought his hands to her lips and kissed his knuckles softly, then placed a tender kiss on his forehead.
"You don't have to say anything, Aryan. I know my Aryan and I believe you more than I believe myself," she said with quiet certainty.
Relieved, Aryan rested his head on her lap and reached forward to kiss her baby bump.
"Thank you, Sanju," he whispered. "I have given her enough time, and I now regret it. I will do anything for us... now only for us. Just be relaxed and let not any thoughts affect our baby. I will take care and keep you safe."
"I know you will," Sanju said, brushing his hair gently. "You relax first. Come, let's go have some food. I'm feeling hungry and you will feed me now."
She tried to lighten the moment, and Aryan smiled faintly, nodding. He stood up and went to get food for her. When he returned, he sat beside her and fed her with his hands, cherishing every bite she took. His heart and mind felt full, grateful to have a woman who believed in him unconditionally. In that quiet moment, he vowed to protect her, to stand by her, and to do anything for her happiness.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted elsewhere.
Maya's head bled as she remained trapped inside the wrecked car. A bystander quickly called for an ambulance. Within minutes, emergency responders arrived and rushed her to the hospital.
Chandrasekar, tracking Maya's car through the GPS, reached the scene. His eyes widened in horror as he saw traffic police clearing the remains of the vehicle. He jumped out of the car and ran to the officers.
"Where is the person who drove this car? What happened?" he demanded breathlessly.
"It was a major accident," one officer responded. "The lady has been sent to ABC Hospital in the ambulance just now."
Chandrasekar collapsed to his knees in shock, and Rajesh hurried to support him.
"Sir, madam will be fine. Please relax, let's drive to the hospital," Rajesh said, guiding him back to the car.
They rushed to ABC Hospital and approached the reception.
"There was a lady brought in from an accident. Where is she?" Rajesh asked urgently.
"She's in the ICU," the nurse replied. "She's being treated."
Chandrasekar's hands trembled as they made their way to the ICU. He sat outside, sobbing silently. Rajesh, seeing the situation growing critical, stepped aside and made a call.
"Naren, Maya met with an accident. She's in ICU. Please return by the next flight," he said, his voice tight with emotion.
Time crawled by. After what felt like an eternity, the ICU doors finally opened and a doctor stepped out.
"Doctor! How is my daughter? Is she fine?" Chandrasekar asked, rushing toward him.
"Sir," the doctor began with a solemn expression, "her head injury is severe, and we need to operate. But... the chances are very low."
"Call any doctor from any part of the world! Don't worry about the money. Save my daughter, doctor. Please!" Chandrasekar pleaded, desperate.
"We will try our best, sir," the doctor assured. "And... she also went through a miscarriage. I'm sorry."
Chandrasekar's world collapsed. His daughter was battling for her life, and the child who was to be his first grandchild was gone.
"Please sign the consent form so we can commence the operation," the doctor said gently.
With a trembling hand, Chandrasekar signed the form. The medical team began prepping for the operation.
" If Aryan had accepted my Maya, nothing like this would've happened, Chandrasekar thought bitterly. If not for him, my daughter would've lived like a queen. But now... she's fighting for life and lost her child. Even if the child wasn't Aryan's, he should've waited for me before chasing her away. It's all because of him. " Chandrasekar seethed in anger.
The clock ticked slowly as the surgery went on. Chandrasekar sat hunched in a chair, eyes red, his chest rising and falling in quiet sobs. The operation took nearly five hours.
Finally, the light outside the operating theatre turned off and the doctors emerged.
"Doctor! How is my daughter?" he asked, jumping to his feet.
"Sir... her life is saved," the doctor said, "but... she slipped into a coma."
"No!" Chandrasekar screamed, grabbing the doctor by the collar. "You said you would save her!"
Rajesh pulled him back, trying to calm him.
"Sir, please calm down. This is not the right time. Let's first find a way to treat madam," Rajesh urged.
"I'm sorry, doctor," Chandrasekar said, wiping his tears. "Please... there should be some way to bring her back."
"Sir, we need to wait for the injury to heal before we can start any treatment to bring her out of the coma," the doctor explained. "I understand you're worried, and I know no words can console you. But even if you bring in any doctor from any part of the world, they will give you the same answer. So please trust us. Let her recover from the injury first, and then we will begin further treatment."
"Reserve this entire floor and move her to a VIP ward," Chandrasekar ordered. "I want her under 24x7 attention. No negligence. I want to be updated every now and then. Appoint a special nurse to take care of her."
"Sure, sir," the doctor nodded. "We will take care. After one hour, she will be shifted to the ward and you can see her."
Chandrasekar nodded silently, eyes fixed on the ICU door, his heart shattered beyond repair.
After an hour, Maya was shifted to the ward. Chandrasekar entered the room slowly, and the moment his eyes fell on her, he broke down completely. Maya lay still, motionless, a pale shadow of her vibrant self, now reduced to a vegetative state.
Chandrasekar's mind echoed in rage. "Everything is because of you, Aryan. You will pay for this. I will give you the pain that I'm going through. I will snatch everything from you."
Turning toward Rajesh, his voice was stern and filled with fury. "Rajesh, get our men immediately and make a plan to get Sanjana to our den."
Rajesh hesitated, alarmed by the intensity in his tone. "Sir... shall we wait until Naren sir comes here?"
"Do it now," Chandrasekar ordered sharply.
Aryan Mansion – Beyond Midnight
It was well past midnight when impatient knocks echoed through Aryan and Sanju's room. Both woke up with a jolt. Aryan rushed to the door, Sanju following closely. As he opened it, they found Ranjith standing there, his face clouded with urgency and tension.
Aryan frowned. "Ranjith, what happened? Why are you restless?"
"Sir... Maya met with an accident as soon as she left from here," Ranjith said.
Sanju gasped, clutching Aryan's arm tightly.
Aryan's voice grew sharp. "Why did you not inform me earlier then?"
"Sir, I just waited to know her exact state before informing you."
"How is she now?" Aryan asked quickly.
"Severe head injury... and she slipped into a coma even after the doctors operated to save her. She almost had a miscarriage," Ranjith said gravely.
Sanju's body went limp, and she fainted. Aryan quickly caught her in his arms, lifted her, and laid her gently on the bed.
"Sanju, open your eyes," Aryan whispered in panic.
Ranjith stopped him. "Sir, don't wake her. She's just in shock. We need to protect Sanju now. Chandrasekar's lost his mind... he would do anything now."
Aryan clenched his fists in frustration. "I never wanted these things to happen. That's the reason I told him to send her away. Just a day... a day caused everything. I tried to stop this. I really did."
"Sir, we have less time. We need to act now. Please... we shall execute what we planned earlier," Ranjith urged.
Aryan nodded. "Hmm. Give me a few minutes. I'll come down. You carry on with the arrangements."
He turned to Sanju, held her hand, and kissed it gently. "Sanju... sorry. I have no other way to protect you. Wait for me. I'll be back soon... after clearing all this mess. We will be happy with our baby. I promise. I love you, sweetheart. I love you so much," he whispered.
He pressed a soft kiss to her lips, then walked to the wardrobe and packed her clothes along with some of his. He called Bala to carry the luggage. Then, lifting Sanju in bridal style, he walked out.
Ranjith got into the driver's seat. Aryan sat in the back with Sanju in his arms, and they drove off into the night. After an hour of driving, they stopped on a quiet roadside where an ordinary car waited. Pradeep stood beside it along with a woman, a trusted doctor Aryan had arranged to care for Sanju.
Aryan gently transferred Sanju to the backseat of the new car and kissed her forehead, tears glistening in his eyes. Ranjith loaded the luggage into the trunk as Aryan turned to the doctor.
"Doctor, please take care of her. Wait for us to call you. Give this letter to her as soon as she's awake after reaching," he said, handing over a sealed envelope.
"Aryan, we can't waste time. Hurry up," Pradeep urged.
Aryan nodded. "Take care, doctor. I'll meet her soon. You won't have access to any gadgets. Only one person will contact you. Just one. Hope you understand."
"Sir, don't worry. I will take care of her," the doctor assured.
"You can start driving now," Aryan said, stepping back.
As the doctor drove away, Aryan watched until the car vanished down the road. His legs gave way, and he fell to his knees, tears flowing freely. Ranjith and Pradeep rushed to his side and hugged him, offering silent comfort.
"Sir, we shall move, please," Ranjith said gently.
They got into the car and took a different route, driving for another four hours before returning to the mansion. It was already late morning when Aryan entered his room. He stepped straight into the bathroom, still clothed, and stood under the shower. Water ran down, mixing with his silent tears.
His thoughts churned in turmoil.
"Everything is happening because of me. Sanju is suffering only because of me. If I hadn't felt pity for Chandrasekar, these wouldn't have happened. My respect for him made me blind... blind from hurting Maya. I never wanted him to go through this pain and kept silent. But still... everything happened."
His voice grew resolute as he spoke to himself.
"Not anymore. No one will stop me from protecting my Sanju. I will do anything for her. Enough of silence and patience. I'm sorry, Mr. Chandrasekar... if I have to fight you for my Sanju, then so be it."
His fists clenched.
"You cannot take revenge on me or my wife for the stupidity of your daughter. Mr. Chandrasekar... if you dare to touch my wife... then face my wrath."
