Chapter 14
Recap: Sanjana was drugged and Daniel tried to molest her
*********
Daniel slammed his foot against the door with all his strength. The lock shattered, and the door flew open, revealing Sanjana curled up in the corner of the restroom, her body trembling violently. Her clothes were slightly damp from the cold shower she had taken in a desperate attempt to suppress the unnatural heat coursing through her veins. Her breath came out in short gasps, her wide eyes filled with fear as she saw Daniel storming toward her.
With a sinister smirk, he grabbed her wrist and yanked her up.
"Let go!" Sanjana screamed, struggling to break free. Panic surged through her as she felt her body betraying her, the drug taking full control.
Daniel clamped a rough hand over her mouth, muffling her cries. "Shhh... No use screaming, sweetheart. No one's coming to save you," he whispered against her ear, dragging her closer to him.
Just then, his phone rang. Annoyed, he pulled it out with his free hand, still holding Sanjana firmly. Recognizing the number, he answered.
"What?" he snapped, irritation evident in his voice.
"Get out of there now!" the voice on the other end hissed. "Aryan has arrived. He's in the building! If he finds you, you're dead. Leave, now!"
Daniel's eyes widened in shock. "Shit!" he muttered under his breath. His grip on Sanjana loosened momentarily. Taking the opportunity, she stumbled back, pressing herself against the wall.
"Remember," the voice warned, "if Aryan catches you, I can't save you. But as long as you don't let my name come out, I'll ensure you escape scot-free. Now run!"
Daniel clenched his jaw, his plans falling apart in an instant. He cast one last glance at Sanjana, her teary eyes filled with terror. "Lucky escape," he muttered and bolted toward the fire exit, disappearing just as Aryan reached the floor.
Aryan's pulse raced as he sprinted down the hallway, Ranjith following closely behind. The moment the elevator doors opened on his office floor, a piercing scream echoed through the dimly lit corridor. His heart stopped for a fraction of a second before he took off toward the sound.
"Sir, I'll stay here and secure the area," Ranjith called out, but Aryan was already rushing into Sanjana's cabin. The lights were off, but the door to the restroom was wide open.
He stepped inside, and what he saw shattered his heart into a million pieces.
Sanjana sat huddled in the corner, shaking violently, her arms wrapped tightly around herself as if she were trying to hold herself together. Her hair was damp, her eyes red and swollen from crying. She flinched as his footsteps approached.
"Sanju..." Aryan whispered, his voice breaking as he rushed to her. He knelt before her and gently placed his hands on her shoulders.
"Sanju, baby, what happened? Talk to me," he pleaded, but she remained frozen, her lips trembling, her body unresponsive.
His heart clenched painfully. He lifted her face with his hands, forcing her to meet his gaze. "Sanju, it's me. Aryan. You're safe now. Let's go home, okay?"
Sanjana's lips parted, her voice a fragile whisper. "Aryan... I'm scared."
His jaw clenched as he pulled her into his arms, holding her close. "I'm here. Nothing will happen to you. I swear it."
But she pushed against his chest weakly, shaking her head. "No... I—I can't. I was... drugged, Aryan. My body..." Her voice cracked as she broke into fresh sobs. "I can't control it... Please... Stay away from me."
Without waiting for another protest, he scooped her up into his arms and carried her to his private relaxation room. She clutched onto his shirt, her body trembling in fear, discomfort, and something far worse, helplessness.
Laying her on the couch, he grabbed his phone and called his personal doctor.
"She's been drugged. She's burning up. Tell me how to help her," he demanded, his voice laced with urgency.
After a brief conversation, Aryan retrieved a mild sedative from his medical kit and knelt beside her. "Sanju, baby, take this. It'll help you feel better."
She shook her head. "No. I need you, Aryan. Please... just—just kiss me. Please."
Aryan's breath hitched. He shut his eyes, swallowing hard as he fought back the lump in his throat. He couldn't bear to see her like this, suffering from something so vile, so cruelly inflicted on her.
"Sanju... I can't. This isn't you. You're not thinking straight."
She sobbed, gripping his shirt. "Please... I don't want to feel this way anymore. Make it stop..."
Aryan let out a shaky breath. "Okay," he whispered. "I'll kiss you. But first, take this pill."
Desperation clouded her eyes, but she hesitated before nodding. She took the pill from his hand and swallowed it with his help. As soon as she did, she stretched her arms toward him, silently begging for comfort.
Aryan leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. His lips lingered there for a moment, and when he pulled back, he saw tears streaming down her face.
"You're safe," he whispered. "You'll be okay. I promise."
Slowly, her body began to relax, the sedative taking effect. Her eyelids grew heavy, and moments later, she drifted into unconsciousness.
Aryan stood up and ran a hand through his hair, his body vibrating with rage. Without a second thought, he grabbed a glass table nearby and sent it crashing to the floor with a loud shatter.
"Ranjith!" he barked into his phone.
"Sir!"
"Who the hell is behind this?!"
"Daniel, sir. But he's on the run."
Aryan's hands clenched into fists. "Find him. And when you do, bring him to me. No police. No legalities. He's mine to deal with."
"Yes, sir."
Taking a deep breath, Aryan turned back to Sanjana, watching her chest rise and fall steadily. He moved toward her, lifting her into his arms once more, and carried her to the car.
When they reached the mansion, Kousalya gasped. "Sir! What happened to Sanju?!"
"She fainted. That's all you need to know. Leave for the night."
Once inside her room, Aryan changed her into fresh clothes and tucked her into bed.
Aryan sat on the couch, watching Sanjana as she lay on the bed. She looked so fragile, and his heart ached for her. Hours passed, and suddenly, she screamed.
"NO! Please... no!" she cried, tossing in her sleep. Aryan rushed to her side and held her close. "Sanju, it's okay. I'm here," he whispered, his voice gentle. She trembled, breathing heavily. Her hands clutched his shirt tightly, seeking comfort.
"Aryan..." she whimpered.
"I'm right here," he assured her, pressing a soft kiss on her forehead. "You're safe."
Slowly, she calmed down. Her breathing steadied, and her grip on him relaxed. She snuggled closer, her face resting against his chest.
Aryan held her protectively, rubbing her back in soothing circles. As she drifted back to sleep, he stayed awake, watching over her.
Every time she stirred or whimpered, he whispered softly to comfort her. And as the morning light filled the room, she remained peacefully asleep in his arms, while he stayed awake, making sure she was safe.
Morning light streamed into the room as Sanjana slowly stirred awake. She felt warmth surrounding her, a strong arm holding her close. Blinking, she looked up and realized, Aryan was hugging her tightly, and she was holding onto him just as firmly.
As her senses cleared, memories of the previous night came rushing back. Fear gripped her chest, but before she could dwell on it, Aryan's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Sanju, how do you feel now?" he asked softly, sensing her movement.
She swallowed and tried to speak. "Hmmm... yeah, good." But her voice broke, her lips quivering as emotions overwhelmed her. Tears welled in her eyes, spilling down her cheeks.
"Shhh... don't cry, Sanju," Aryan soothed, tightening his embrace. "You're fine. I'm with you. Don't worry, please."
She nodded weakly.
"Go freshen up," he urged gently. "You haven't eaten anything since last night."
Sanjana pushed herself off the bed and stood up. As she moved, she glanced down and noticed something, her clothes had been changed. Her gaze snapped to Aryan, silent but questioning.
Understanding her look, he sighed. "That... I changed you. Sorry."
She didn't say anything, just gave a small nod and walked to the washroom.
Aryan exhaled heavily, stretching his stiff muscles. The exhaustion from staying awake the entire night was catching up to him, but there were other matters to handle. He picked up his phone and dialed Ranjith.
"Did you catch him?" Aryan's voice was cold and sharp.
"Yes, sir. He's in our underground cell," Ranjith confirmed.
"Good. Tie his hands and legs. Give him the same drug he used on Sanjana—morning and night. Don't stop until I say. Let him die in his own desire."
"Understood, sir," Ranjith responded without hesitation.
Aryan ended the call and sent a message to Kousalya, instructing her to bring breakfast to Sanjana's room. But as time passed, Sanjana still hadn't come out of the washroom.
Frowning, he hesitated, then knocked lightly. "Sanju?" No answer.
Only the steady sound of running water met his ears. His concern grew. He knocked harder. "Sanjana, answer me!"
Still nothing.
His heart pounded. Without wasting another second, he broke the lock and rushed inside—only to find her sitting under the shower, hugging her knees.
"Sanju!" He hurried to her, lifting her from the cold stream of water.
She didn't resist. She didn't even react.
"Sanjana, what are you doing?" his voice was filled with worry, but she remained silent.
With utmost care, he wrapped a towel around her and gently dried her hair. Then, without a word, he carried her to the closet.
"I'll wait in the room. Change your clothes and come out," he said softly before stepping out.
A few minutes later, Sanjana emerged, dressed in fresh clothes. Aryan guided her to the couch and picked up the breakfast tray. Without letting her protest, he took a spoonful of food and held it out to her.
"Eat," he said gently.
She hesitated but took the bite. Tears silently rolled down her cheeks as she ate.
"Sanju, please don't cry," Aryan said, his voice filled with quiet pain. "I can't see you like this."
She tried to speak but struggled. "D... Da... Daniel..."
"Shhh." He placed a finger against her lips. "Don't say his name. Don't think about him. Just relax. Eat first."
Once she finished eating, he gave her the prescribed medicine. Then, pulling her close, he let her rest against his shoulder. Wrapping one arm around her, he held her hand with his other.
As the medicine took effect, her breathing slowed, and she drifted into sleep. Aryan carefully lifted her and laid her on the bed before stepping into his own room to freshen up.
When he returned, dressed in comfortable tracks, he sat back in her room, keeping watch over her. While eating his breakfast, Sanjana's phone rang, Pavi.
Without waking her, Aryan muted the call and typed a reply: "I had to leave for my native due to an emergency. Will call you once I'm free."
Almost instantly, Pavi replied: "Okay! Take care!"
Aryan's gaze shifted back to Sanjana. Even in sleep, her brows furrowed. She was mumbling something.
He moved closer, listening.
"Aryan... I'm scared..."
His chest tightened.
Without hesitation, he climbed onto the bed beside her and pulled her into his arms. She instinctively curled into him, seeking warmth and comfort.
Aryan held her securely, running his hand down her back in slow, soothing strokes. His mind flooded with memories, of the Sanjana who used to laugh freely, who lived without fear. Seeing her like this, so fragile and broken, shattered him.
A single tear slipped down his cheek, falling onto hers.
He quickly wiped it away and hugged her closer. "I'm here, Sanju," he whispered. "I won't let anything happen to you."
As exhaustion finally took over, he stayed by her side, holding her close, refusing to let go.
