Monitors point of view

It has been thousands and thousands of years since I began my journey as the monitor of the Multiverse honestly I can't quite remember who I was before I was the monitor but over this very long time I have watched countless worlds begin and end

I have watched, but up until recently I have never interfered it was an oath I took but now the Multiverse is under threat once again and this time I cannot sit idly by because the darkness is growing stronger every day

And my champion while he has grown stronger, is still no match for the darkness that will come he has made allies, but they are also far too weak for what is coming is far more dangerous than anything they have ever seen before or ever will face

And unfortunately, the dark army is on the move once again this time targeting another world

You all know the story of the invincible boy known as Mark Grayson idolising his father known as Omni Man is a hero and when he gets his powers he wants to be just like him and dangerous but as he does this his father reveals the true reason to why he has come to earth to conquer it now in the story that is mostly known Mark defies his father and decides to defend Earth which leads to a fight between father and son which of the majority of the time and with the father being victorious but leaving the planet

However, in this universe, Mark agreed with his father and helped him to conquer Earth killing millions in the process claiming that it's for the greater good to kill off heroes and everyone who disagrees with them there is a resistance growing but it is doomed to fail

That is how it mostly goes in this story but with the dark army approaching this dimension... I fear that its fate will be worse than death itself

I could help them I could save this world from the fate that it has been handed but I cannot interfere not any more than I already have. I am sorry... But unfortunately, this world must be sacrificed for the greater good

I know what my champion thinks of me. I know that he thinks I am heartless but watching worlds die... It never gets easier especially when I could do something about it but I must restrain myself. The fate of the Multiverse rests on my restraint so I must watch this play out however dark it may be.

Narrator point of view

Over a desert in the night, everything seemed peaceful until giant holes started to appear in the clouds above

Above the desert, there was the immortal fighting invincible The two were locked in a battle in the sky pushing and punching each other through the clouds

The immortal punched the invincible in the face, forcing him back and making him cough up blood in response. He spat out the rest of the blood and gave the immortal cocky smile: I've been hit harder you know like way hard

The immortal gritted his teeth: so arrogant... Just like your father!

The immortal flew forward, punching Invincible again, forcing him back. He tried to keep up the momentum, but Invincible got the upper hand. Punching the immortal back, Invincible started unleashing a bar of attack.

Whilst he was attacking invincible yelled at Immortal: I'm trying to save lives why can't you trust me?!

Through the pain and the punches immortal grabbed Invincible by the throat and threw his broken teeth. He yelled: after what Omni man did after what you did!

Suddenly by magic, the immortal's arm was sliced off. He screamed as he let go of invincible and he looked up to see the person he hated most in this world: you

Omni man with his arms crossed looked down at the immortal: yep

Letting himself go to his rage the immortal charged forward attacking the man it didn't last long though as the immortal-charged Omni man just cut off his head and Invincible caught it

Crushing it in his hands as blood splattered invincible looked at the carnage she caused and he was completely emotionless: immortal your way out of that

He then turned his attention to his father who looked saddened: Dad?

Omni man explained himself: the immortal lived for thousands of years trying to make this world better. I thought he would see the truth like you did Mark.

Mark joined his father and looked down at the city and their handwork of "protecting the planet":

Mark: I think he was leading his way

Omni man: then we must be close

Every city on the planet had been destroyed by invincible Omni man as they began conquering the planet readying it for the empire many people fought back every country did but it all ended the same way they didn't so much as scratch either the father or the son and always left now was a ragged bunch of resistance members who were running out of options to fight against their new oppressor

One man Angstrom Levy made his way through the destroyed city As he did, he saw the full carnage of the Empire's occupation and he was once again met with the usual regular announcement from Invincible that had been playing on a loop ever since they took over it was the same usual thing how the earth should be grateful to be welcomed into the empire how it's their fault all those people died and they should stop resisting and just accept it but Angstrom knew there was help that always had to be

(yeah, I wasn't gonna go through the whole speech honestly was a lot)

That's why he was heading back to the resistance headquarters after he and the immortal and a few others broke into a lab to steal something. The only thing they hadn't tried against Omni man it was the only thing left and made his way through the streets alone because he was the only one left after the mission
As he was about to enter the secret location, he looked up once again to see the recording of Invincible speaking

Angstrom whispered to himself: someday... maybe not today  but someday they will pay

He carried on with his mission heading to the secret base of the resistance the last line of defence the only line of defence left though it was less of a resistance and more like a refugee camp

The people there had lost their homes families everything to both Omni man and invincible to them joining the resistance was the only thing left that counted his free will

The robot of the universe who was still in his original body in a tube that could walk was aside one of his robot drones the only one left:  Angstrom wherewhere you followed?

Angstrom pulling down his Hoodie: the immortal led them away They're safe, but I'm the only one who's coming back, I think

Eve's voice chimed in: oh yeah

Their tension was brought to Eve, but it wasn't the same eve from the previous dimension had been cut to the point where she looked bald she had scars on her face and she was wearing a black jacket with black joggers. The only thing resembling her hero costume was her shirt and it was beaten and torn and covered in dirt symbolising just how dire the situation was.

Eve flew down to join them: that's what Rex thought too... Still, I'm surprised you were able to get that stuff I would've thought Omni man and Invincible would've kept it under high guard

Angstrom: yeah now that you mentioned it it was a bit strange when we got there. There were very few guards to begin with. We would've gotten away easily if Omni man Invincible didn't show up another you mentioned it they showed up rather quickly almost as if they were already on their way there and thinking about it something else doesn't make sense

Robot: what exactly?

Angstrom: well I didn't think much of it at the time, but the place was miraculously clean like someone had cleaned it recently and if that wasn't strange enough, I found drops of blood small drops all over the place. It was so small that I barely noticed them, but I think someone was trying to hide that they kill people.

Eve: maybe someone else is trying to stick it to Omni man and invincible

Robot: impossible as far as we are aware, we are the only resistance left on this planet.

Angstrom: maybe someone working by themselves maybe they were trying to get the Noel energy too, but they couldn't so they let us take it instead

Eve: I don't know it doesn't make any sense, but let's save that mystery for later we've got the energy. Are you sure this is going to work?

Angstrom Levy Pulled out a jar from his bag: if this doesn't give the man a bad day, nothing will

After Angstrom disappeared through a portal invincible was getting ready to eliminate the last of the resistance some were standing tall, ready to face the end not many but some others were crying knowing that there was no way out some started to beg and a few soiled themselves

One individual pushed through the crowd and got on their hands and knees begging to be spared: please please don't kill us we... We'll do what you say we won't fight back anymore please we don't wanna die

Invincible looking down at the man smirking at how pathetic it was: you guys murdered yourselves when you decided to fight against us and if you don't wanna die then maybe you shouldn't have killed all of our guarding the energy that you stole

The man's whimpers stopped for a moment as he looked up, still tears in his eyes, but there was a bit of confusion: wait... But Angstrom said he didn't kill anyone there was no one guarding the energy

Invincible thought this was some sort of lie: don't bother lying you killed all of the people working there and you stuffed their bodies into a single room, then you got cleaned up don't try lying to get yourself out of this. You won't even if by chance you were telling the truth.

The man shook his head again: but I am telling the truth we tried desperately to lower casualties we would never kill people unless it was necessary... And can I just point out? Why would we clean up? What would be the point?

The superhero-turned-dictator was about to get ready to kill the man who was kneeling before him but then he stopped as he realised that the man had a point sure they could've killed them but why bother cleaning up? It didn't make any sense he quickly shook off these thoughts when he heard his father speak.

Omni man: Mark, it doesn't matter let's wrap this up. I'm starving.

Realising that his dad was right Mark shook off the thoughts and got ready to commit mass murder with a smile on his face. He raised his fist high only for a gunshot to echo in the resistance space catching everyone's attention as they looked up to see... A shadow or rather a figure that looked like he was clouded in a shadow

Omni man: you must be pretty very pretty stupid to get our attention like that. You could've snuck away while we were killing the other others now you get to die first.

The shadow we figure laughed maniacally his voice twisted and deep it almost didn't sound human. It even gave Omni man.: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were joking. You're going to kill me... Wouldn't that be the day?

Invincible turning his back to the resistance and looking up at this mysterious figure: hey I don't know what kind of disguise you've got on but it won't help you. I don't think you understand what's happening here. We're going to kill you and your resistant friends.

The crackling laugh echoes to the resistance halls again: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! I'm not with the resistance you fool! Although I suppose I have committed a crime against you since I killed all those gods guarding that special energy you seem so fond of

Omni man: so it was you that killed the guards well you saved us the trouble of finding you thanks for that. We give you a quick death as payment for it.

Once again, the laughter of the mysterious figure echoed: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Well thank you for that generous offer but I have to decline. Unfortunately, I cannot die by your hands... Considering that you will be the ones who die here today

Invincible getting slightly irritated by this guy's cockiness: who do you think you are?

The shadowy figure stopped laughing for a moment and put his finger on his chin: I can't give you my name because it would be pointless since you two aren't going to be alive much longer but I suppose for the short time that you have left you can call me... The man who laughs

Omni man: All alright man who laughs if you're so confident I'll give you the first shot

The man who laughs: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I'm not going to fight if I thought the two of you would be over way too soon ha ha ha ha ha ha

Invincible: you got that right we would kill you

The man who laughed stopped laughing and for the first time since he appeared, he sounded genuine: don't be foolish you would be the one who died instantly

Mark and Omni man looked at each other. They burst out laughing, pointing at the man who laughed and remained unfazed by the Mercury. He just snapped his fingers and from it, two more shadowy figures appeared out of the shadows.

The man who laughed: allow me to introduce you to your opponents today it will be pointless to give you their name since... You won't be around for much longer but for now, you can call the one that will be fixing you Omni man doomsday... And as for you invincible the one that will be facing you you can call pain

Doomsday was twice the size of Omni man, but that didn't intimidate him. Omni man leaps forward, punching Doomsday in the chest. Causing a massive buildup of smoke from the dust.

Invincible looked at: haha you see that looks like your little henchman is already down and not so cocky now are you

Pain who was around the same size as invincible: you might want to look again, Mark

Mark took a second look and his eyes widened in shock. Doomsday was completely unharmed from the attack and his father was the one with a broken arm as he screamed in agony.

Invincible: what...? What did he do?

The man who laughed: nothing he took your father's punch... and he was so weak that he broke his hand ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha isn't that funny? A soldier broke his hand by simply punching someone now that a... "Punchline" ha ha ha ha ha!

Invincible getting irritated by the laugh once again charged forward to the man who laughed only for the pain to jump up right in front of him, surprising him and punching him into the ground it killed some of the resistant members who thought these people were their saviours but it turned out they were worse than Omni man is invincible they didn't care about them. They just wanted to fight.

Mark quickly recovered and charged towards Pain only for trying to punch him only for him to dodge and block him with only his left hand then for a kick to come up smashing his jaw and then for Pain to deliver a powerful sucker punch forcing Mark into the wall. He started to cough up blood and then one tooth fell out then another and another and another.

Pain looked at Mark who had gone from a cocky confident asshole with a massive smile on his face to a smithereens small child shaking in his boots: what's the matter is that all you got?

With Omni man with his one good arm, he kept punching at doomsday trying to hurt him with all of his strength, but he didn't so much as affect him. Doomsday just stood there taking the punches not even moving an inch.

Omni man began to run out of breath for the first time in 1000 years he was out of breath and the pain in his arm was getting worse every time he punched the doomsday. It felt like he was hurting himself

He looked up at doomsday his appearance shrouded in mystery because of the shadow cloak he couldn't tell what this thing was, but he was certain it wasn't human: what...? What are you?

Doomsday's voice was deep: death

He picked Omni man up by his arms and started pulling him from either side. Omni man screamed in pain as he felt his bones stretch mark hurt his father cried out in pain and he tried to get to him but pain hit him in the face destroying whatever teeth he had left in his mouth and whatever was left of his mask.

He then grabbed Mark by the head from the ground and made him watch as Doomsday ripped his father's hands clean off and dropped what was left of him to the ground and stomped on his head killing him

Invincible with tears in his eyes cold out: Dad!!!!

But it was no use Omni man his father fought to be the strongest man on the planet was dead by a creature that didn't even break a sweat

A single applause could be heard as the man who laughed, sat above them all smiling as he looked at the carnage: Well done doomsday thank you... Though I wish you made that last a bit longer it was kind of anti-climatic. I expected a little bit more of a show.

Doomsday: couldn't be helped he was far too weak

The man who laughed: I suppose still I was hoping for a bit more of a show like the time you fought against the Omni man in the  615 universe that was glorious like a gladiator battle so much death was left in your way and yet you stood on top of his corpse

Doomsday: hate to burst your bubble but that wasn't Omni man that was conquest

The man who laughed sounded confused: conquest... Remind me which one is that again?

Doomsday: the one who every time we get close to killing him starts begging for his life saying how lonely he is how he's a victim of his success and how he wants to join our side but we kill him anyway

The man who laughed: oh yeah that guy... Honestly, every member of the Empire starts looking the same to me... pain wrap this up please this has already gotten boring

Pain: sure thing

He was about to get invincible into a chokehold but invincible head button in the face, causing him to let go and then Mark flew out of the base leaving a giant hole as he tried to get away from his attackers

Doomsday: well that's just great how we gotta do a chase the master said that he wanted us to get this done quickly

Pain: I'm sorry guys. I let my guard down won't happen again.

The man who laughed joined his companions on the bottom floor: hey guys don't be upset now it's a bit more fun. We've got a chase. Let's give him a five-second hand start besides we need to finish off the resistance with no witnesses. Doomsday if you wouldn't mind finish these poor lambs off and try to make it quick we don't have much time and pain will go after the runaway... Oh and kill everyone except Atom Eve the girl that's paralysed on the top floor the master could use another one of her in the grand plan when you're done with that contact metal head and get him to teleport you to our location

Doomsday nodded: sure

The creature clouded in the darkness slowly walked to the last remaining survivors of the resistance who were terrified of the creature as the man who laughed and pain left the resistance space all that could be heard were screams

The man who laughed hummed to himself as he listened to the screams: such a wonderful tune

With invincible he was flying through the air as fast as he could trying to get as far away from whoever those guys were he was breaking the speed barrier destroying countless cities in his way he didn't care all that mattered was his survival. He still couldn't get out of his head his father was dead Killed by some nobody who just appeared out of nowhere. And the man that he fought the one named Pain beat him so easily with just one hand and a few kicks he knocked out all of his teeth with a single punch and for the first time in a while Mark felt... Fear he was afraid for his life.

Finally thinking he had gotten away Mark hid what was left of a building that he and his father had destroyed when they first started taking over earth:... They won't find me here... They can't I just... I need to wait for the empire yeah when they get here they'll kill those guys and avenge my dad... I just need to hold out and then that will reward me for my loyalty. I just need to hide for a

Unfortunately, there was nowhere to hide pain and the man who laughed appeared right in front of Mark scaring him half to death as all the colour on his face had gone as he looked at the two he tried to get away but paying grabbed him by the throat and slammed him into the ground not enough to break the floor they were on but enough to crack it. It held marked down by the throat, choking him.

Struggling with tears in his eyes: please... Please don't kill me I won't do anything I surrender... Did you hear me I surrender

The man who laughed: yeah we heard you we just don't care...

Invincible: but... you've won you've killed my dad. I surrender I'll even help you take down the empire, please... I don't wanna die.

The pain increased his grip on Invincible slowly choking him out as if it's tried to get pain off of him, but he was much stronger than him much stronger

However, the man who laughed placed his hand on pain, shoulder and pain loosened his grip on invincible: it would be shameful to kill him like this after all you did kill the invincible of Earth 2113 in that manner let's try something different. Let's give him a chance.

Mark felt like he was gonna cry, but this time for joy as he got up: thank you I promise I won't betray you

The man who laughed chuckled: you misunderstand me we're not letting you join us we're giving you a chance... Let's play a game

The man who laughed brought out a pack of plane cards and started to shuffle them: you and I pull out a card from this deck and whoever gets the highest card wins if you win you're free in fact, we'll leave your Earth alone and you'll never hear from us again and you can welcome it into your grand Empire... But if we win we kill you of course if you don't accept the game will kill you anyway so really it's your only

Invincible gulp and it was visibly shaken. Blood was pouring out of his mouth as he was breathing heavily. He now knew he stood no chance against the man who laughed or much less doomsday. He didn't know who or what these people were but they were strong too strong for him to fight the game with his only way to win the only way for him to get out.

Invincible: what...? What are the rules?

The man who laughed finished shuffling the cards: you pick a card first and if I get a card higher than yours I win but if it's lower I lose aces are greater than Kings and jokers are wild... Translation if you get a joker you've pretty much won Now pick a card invincible

Invincible's hands with trembling as carefully picked a card from the deck praying that it was a high number he picked his card and looked at it and a moment of relief washed over him. He had drawn a high card.

The ace of hearts there were only two cards in the deck that could make him lose now the jokers so the odds were in his favour

The man who laughed, passed the cards to Invincible so that he could shuffle them to show that there were no slide-of-hand tricks. Mark was terrified even though there was a small chance there was still a chance that he wasn't walking away from this but he liked his chances as he shuffled the cards he decided to cheat a little. He grabbed one of the jokers out from the deck. He tried to find the other one but feared that if these two caught him, they would kill him Instantly so he left a single joker in the deck. Now the odds were greatly in his favour. There was only one card that could make him lose.

The man who left grabbed a card and pulled it out mark trampoline showed his card the ace of hearts the man who laughed smiled, revealing his card and Mark's face lost all colour once again

The last joker card the man who laughed smirked under his shadow veil: bad luck a bitch

Mark couldn't feel his legs anymore he fell to his knees shaking as he dropped his card: Jesus man come on come on please please don't do this please I'm begging you

The man who laughed: oh don't be a baby you lost to take it like a man pain opened his mouth

The pain went and pinned Mark in a chokehold as he used his spare hand to force his mouth open mark struggled to try to get away but it wasn't working this time pain wasn't letting him go. The man who left pulled out a small tiny object and drew it closer to Invincible's mouth as he struggled to fight against he didn't know what it was but he didn't want to swallow it

The man who laughed chuckled as he haunted the scared dictator: open up here comes the choo-choo train

Mark had tears in his eyes as a man who laughed placed the device in his mouth and forced him to swallow once it was down his throat pain let him go as Mark coughed slightly: what...? What was that?!

The man who laughed chuckled: think of it as a piece of candy... It's gonna be a real gutbuster ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Not a second invincible crawled on the floor in pain as he felt like his inside was exploding blood appeared out of every hole until his eyes burst out of their sockets and blood exited from his mouth as he lay on the ground dead

Pain: well that's... It certainly was something

The man who laughed was laughing: I know right? Just another way to kill invincible and army man not to mention the rest of their empire... Oh, this is so satisfying finding unique and painful ways to kill your enemies. Oh I'm in heaven

Pain: it's such a shame... If only he knew that all roads lead to darkness

The man who laughed kneeled and dipped his fingers into Mark's blood as he went over to the roughly only intact glass window that was left in the building: yes indeed all roads do lead to darkness and it's our job to make them see it

He then started to paint something on the window as the sun rose On a world that had gone from one conqueror to an even Warsaw one

As the man who laughed finished his art project in Mark's blood the Sun rose fitting it exactly
