CHAPTER-14

NK holds her hand and takes her to a less-crowded area where they can peacefully talk. After reaching there, he chuckles seeing Khushi, she is still not out from the shock of seeing him. He gently shook her, to make her come out of the shocked state. When he was sure that she is out of her shock-land, he starts a conversation with her.

NK: Hey dear!!! How are you???

Khushi: (with hesitation) I am fine. Thank You.

NK: We are meeting after a long time. Still, you don't want to talk to me. Don't you want to ask me, how am I? He teases her.

She looked at him embarrassed.

Khushi: How are you?

NK: Thanks for asking. I am not fine.

She looks at him with astonishment written all over her face.

NK: Hey, don't be tensed yaar. I was kidding. (He chuckles seeing various emotions shown in her face) You know I was searching for you in our whole school, oops I mean your ex-school after that day and you are here. Why did you leave our school yaar?

She looks at him without knowing what to reply. He looks at her expressions and understands her turmoil. He doesn't want to hurt her so he diverts the topic.

NK: Leave all that. Now, we met na and I am so happy that I got my lost friend.

She smiles seeing his drama.

NK: Will you talk to me or not??? He asks her seeing silent.

She smiles again seeing his dramatic expressions ( which he was showing deliberately to make her smile).

Khushi: How come you are here? She asks him calmly.

NK: Thank God! At least you spoke something. I was thinking that I was talking to a statue (He speaks while moving his hands in a dramatic way).

She giggles seeing that. His lips curve upwards, seeing her giggle.

NK: About your earlier question. I came here to participate in the Inter-school competition. Are you also here for competition?

She nods her head as no. At that time, he noticed her uniform and realizes that she is Gurukul's student. He has so many questions in mind which he needs answers but he knows it is neither right time to ask nor she is that much more comfortable with him. Another important thing is he doesn't want to see that small smile, wipe off from her face. He is sure that the moment he asks something regarding this change, she will avoid him and again go into the shell. For some reason, he doesn't want to see that. He needs to make her comfortable with him first.

NK: Leave all that. Are you participating in any competition? He asks noticing the pile of drawing sheets and charts in her hand.

Khushi: (She nods her head) I am going to participate in a drawing competition.

NK: Wow! That's really great. I never thought that this little angel is an artist.

She blushes hearing that.

Suddenly they hear an announcement which puts a stop in their conversation. It is the time for their programs to commence. They both looked at each other with a sad smile. It is time to part their ways.

NK: Khushi, when will your drawing competition will finish?

Khushi: Around 12 pm.

NK: Cool! My match will also finish by that time. Result announcement will be at evening na (She nods her head). Then we can meet after our competitions na? He looked at her with fingers crossed.

Khushi don't know what to say? If Arnav gets to know that she met NK, then he will create a big storm. She looked at NK to refuse, but by looking at his hopeful eyes, she doesn't have the heart to refuse him. NK will go by today evening, Arnav will not come to know. So, it won't harm to talk to NK. He has helped her in the time of need, how can she refuse such a person?

She looks at him with a small smile and nods her head. A million-dollar smile came on his face. She gives a sweet smile seeing his happiness. He admires her smiling face. She looks so pretty while smiling. Her smile is rarely like that pink precious diamond. She doesn't smile often, but when she smiles it has the ability to soothe the opposite person. He prays to God silently, "Please God, please makes her sadness go miles away from her and make her all wishes fulfilled. Please don't wipe away her smile ever". Only if he knew, that his prayers are not going to fulfil. If only he knew, exact the opposite thing he wished is going to happen in her life.

NK: Thank You!!! Thank You!!!

She smiles seeing him.

They heard another warning bell.

NK: OK Khushi. Bye. See you at the same place, all right.

She nods her head. Both go towards their destinations, one with happiness and other with nervousness.

12.15 pm

NK waited for Khushi at the same place they have met earlier. It had been 15 minutes since he started waiting for her. Still, there was no sign of her. He knows Khushi will not deliberately avoid their meeting. Maybe she is unintentionally delayed due to her competition. He waited for another 15 minutes. Still, she didn't arrive. He hoped nothing bad happen to her.

He stopped one of the student volunteers who was passing by and asked about whether the drawing competition finished or not. The opposite person conveyed that the drawing competition has finished half an hour before. A sudden panic rose in his heart. He is scared for her (Khushi). He prayed to his deity to make Khushi safe. She is such a sensitive and innocent kid. Hope she is not in some trouble. He asked the volunteer where is the classroom, where the drawing competition was held. After getting the accurate information about the way he rushed towards the mentioned place. He looks desperately around the room. Panic filled his heart when he didn't find Khushi anywhere. He started searching her in each and every place like a mad.

But still, he did not get succeeded. He took a frustrated sigh because of his helplessness. He has gone towards the garden to check whether she is there. But he couldn't find there also. Dejectedly he turned to walk away when he heard a small sob. He knows who must be that. He slowly walked towards the direction from where the sound is coming. But, there was nobody there visible to his eyes. Some big trees and some wild plants are there only. At that time, he realized that it was the end of the school premises and garden and it is the starting of the forest where he stood. He sharpens his ears and started walking towards the direction. He walked behind one of the trees from where the faint voice is coming. And there he sees the object of his concern. The sight in front of him caused a pain in his chest. He sees something which he never wished to see. At that moment he realized his deity didn't listen to his prayers.

He walked towards her slowly. With each step he took, his heart clenched with pain. On reaching near her, he prayed, to make him strong to wipes away her tears(pain). He sighs. He gently sat beside her while gulping his pain. She got alerted and immediately try to wipe her tears. He gently holds her hand and makes her look at him. She diverts her eyes away from him. She doesn't want to show her vulnerable side to anybody. But now she is trapped. He gently holds her chin and makes her look at him.

He was looking at her with all the love in the world. He can't tolerate a single tear from her eyes. But looking at her, his heart- wrenched in pain. She was letting her precious tears waste by crying. She doesn't know how much her tears hurt him. It was cutting his heart into zillion pieces. He can feel her pain. If it was in his hands, he will not even let her know what pain is in her entire life. He is helpless. Seeing our loved ones in pain and unable to do anything, being helpless is the biggest punishment one can ever get. She created an unknown bond with him at their first meeting. She doesn't know what she means to him. Seeing her crying, a small ache created on the left side of the chest where his heart resides. He will protect her from all the evils and love her to an extent where she will not think any pain in her life. He will be her armour from now on. It is a promise to her and also to himself.

He can't allow her to cry. Now he needs to console the "Angel of his life".

NK: (by side hugging Khushi) I'm here for you sweetheart. You can always contact me whenever you need me. Anytime, anywhere dear. And I mean it.

He looked at her with love filled eyes.

(In mind: I will never let you down dear. I will never let you drop a single tear from your innocent eyes)

Khushi: Mm. She looks at him with her curious hazel eyes.

NK: I will be always there for you dear.
