Chapter 6

It had been three weeks since I'd slapped Ella Hastings and my best friend, Seth, had started to ignore me.

Surprisingly, Elliott had managed to convince his sister not to tell the teachers about her face. She'd run home crying after her brother pulled me aside, apparently.

Speaking of the devil, Elliott and I had gotten considerably closer. I didn't miss Seth because his company had been replaced, but it made my heart sting every time I thought about him throwing away our friendship just because I wanted to forgive Elliott.

I sighed. I was in Science and I wasn't finding anything particularly interesting because I'd finished my individual experiment. The first lesson I'd had after what happened with Ella and Seth, they'd both moved far, far away from me.

What made things worse?

The fact that they sat together. They were all buddy-buddy and people were even starting to suspect that they were dating. Elliott and I agreed that it made us sick to our stomachs.

Leaving Science after the bell went, I headed to Elliott and I's normal meet up place for lunch. We headed away from the main area of the school and hung out by a cherry tree near one of the least popular branches of the school.

"Hey," he greeted me as I approached him. I groaned and collapsed beside him on the ground.

"They're still at it!" I moaned, leaning my head on Elliott's shoulder, "Every time we're assigned a task, they giggle and snuggle all up close before doing it. It's so irritating, El."

Elliott gave me a look of pure disappointment and disapproval, "Don't call me El."

"Why not? It suits you," I shrugged before mockingly adding, "El."

"Then I'll call you..." Elliott paused for a moment, putting a finger to his chin in attempt to look overly deep in thought. I laughed but eventually he came out with, "Moony."

"Shut up!" I said, hitting his arm.

"I don't know what you want me to call you," Elliott sighed, looking up at some of the blossoms that were falling from the tree in the harsh wind.

"Luna will do," I laughed. I then pondered on what he was actually indirectly asking me, "Um, I don't really mind."

"As long as it's not Moony?"

"As long as it's not Moony. I'm not a werewolf, after all," I joked. Elliott got the reference straight away and we burst into a fit of laughter.

Our joy was short-lived as Ella and Seth walked towards us. She was hanging onto his arm like a sloth on a tree - minus the cuteness, of course. I felt myself internally vomit.

I clung onto Elliott's arm in an attempt to copy their gesture and Ella's face turned ghostly white. Ripping her arm away from Seth's, she stormed towards me.

Elliott shot up from his position on the floor, giving me the opportunity to get up while he confronted Ella.

"Don't do this," he commanded, "Not here. Not anywhere."

"I'll do what I want," she hissed back like a snake, "You're my brother, not my dad."

"God forbid if I was," Elliott hastily replied, his green eyes on fire.
