Prologue

| Prologue |
The clearing was disturbingly calm. A silence hushed over the foliage and unsuspecting animals resting nearby. Two breathtaking immortals stood within a tall oak tree, hidden in the mass of leafy branches. Her red tresses curled around her flawless face as her speckled eyes narrowed in on a loan deer, grazing the forest grounds.
"It's time..." He muttered supportively.
Iris sighed, she hated this part of what she was. The slaughter of anything, disgusted her - as it should. But she pushed feeding back too far, and now the barely-there-ache, was starting to climb to the forefront of her mind. It was subtle at first. Her throat started tingling, an itchy sensation she couldn't seem to scratch. Then, came the blaze of a thousand suns. It shot up her throat like melted lava, and that's when she knew she couldn't hold it off any longer. She certainly wouldn't risk harming her daughter.
The soothing touch of Edward brought her out of self-loathing, his finger tips ghosting over her cheek tenderly. Iris met his gaze, searching for any indication that this could be avoided. Alas, there was only sympathy in his golden honey orbs. There was no way to get out of this, she was stuck this way.
She recalled how Edward fed earlier, showing her how to do it as he hunted for his mountain lion. He looked so majestic while in his element and although Iris was too shy to admit it, watching him was a turn on in so many levels for herself... though, he most likely heard her thoughts anyway. Iris did as Edward once showed her, relaxing her shoulders as she fluttered her eyelids close. She inhaled and was automatically hit with the deer's herbal scent. Her mouth started to salivate with venom and she grimaced.
One second, she was perched on top of the branch and the next, she was gracefully swinging down. Her body moved fluently, twirling around the branch before landing soundlessly on the soil below her, barefoot.
Edward observed curiously as she hunted, his expression full of admiration as he leaned on the bark with his arms crossed. He knew she could handle this on her own. She'd hate that he said it, but she was a natural. The way her form weaved in between the flora, giving the impression of the wind as the bushes rustled beside the feeding deer. It was throwing the animal off, dulling its senses until she truly decided to attack. She didn't even have an alarming scent, it was one of the things that alerted the animals he hunted.
The buck warily glanced around, his nostrils huffing as it leaned down once again. Iris scrutinized it, going down on all fours as her hunting instincts took over. She moved like a lion, blending in with the tall wild grass. The leaves under her palms crunched and she paused, waiting as the deer's stood still. Iris was soon becoming impatient, her nails digging up dirt as she clawed the ground.
The ginger waited with baited breath, swallowing her internal disgust before pouncing on him, startling the mammal as it yelped. They rolled around until Iris was on top, a few leaves mixing into her vibrant locks. There was a softeness in her eyes as she muttered an apology to the buck. However, no matter how many apologies she utters, it didn't stop her sharpened teeth as they latched onto the bucks neck. They pierced through the flesh as she made an erotic sound of pleasure.
It was like nothing she had ever tasted before, coating every one of her senses as her eyes unconsciously fluttered close. It was a euphoria she couldn't quiet describe. It saturated her taste buds and swam down her aching throat in thick rivers. Once she was satisfied, she unclenched her jaw, leaning back to see that the deer was still very much alive.
Edward jumped down from the branches above effortlessly, zooming towards his beloved in fascination. He could so clearly see that she was sated, yet she hadn't drunk the deer dry. It was extremely unusual for a new born however, he would bring it up for a later date. There were other things... on his mind at the moment.
He watched his love tear a strip of her own shirt to wrap around the buck's neck to stop the bleeding. Iris made sure her handy work was done as she looked on guilty. At least she didn't kill him, she thought.
"You have a little something there, darling."
His gaze zeroed in on the blood dripping from her plush lips as it deliciously dropped down her chin. Edward's iries darkened lustfully as he approached her. Slowly he lifted his finger to wipe off her meal and placed it in his own. The ginger's lips parted in anticipation as she followed his every move, biting down on her own bottom lip to stifle her moan of desire.
"Great catch," Edward hummed in appraisal.
Edward grasped her hand to lift her from the ground, her chest abruptly crashing against his as he smoothed down the length of her waist. Iris felt like a haywire circuit, her body coming alive as Edward's fingertips scratched along her newly exposed skin. She reached up and ran a hand through his hair adoringly. They weren't even doing anything and Iris was already about to come undone.
"Thank you," She breathed heavily, her eyelids hooded with unquinchable lust. A growl reberrated throughout Edward's chest as he leaned down to nip the corner of her chin, tasting more of her messy meal. "You're more than welcome, my love."
Their lips clashed together like an unexpected thunder storm, intermingling with unabandon. Iris's back suddnely hit a tree trunk and she arched against it as Edward ravished her lips like he owned them. He groped her curves, clutching anything he could get his hands on. Iris took it as a que to jump and wrapped her flexible legs securely around his waist as she tugged on his neck to get a better angle. The sound of tearing echoed throughout the forest, Iris's blouse ripping open as her chest became exposed to Edward.
"You owe me a new top," Iris groaned as her head tilted back in exasperation. Edward chuckled lightly, knowing he'd buy her anything she wanted without even asking.
Iris had just satisfied the beast inside herself. The burning sensation was no longer clawing up to the surface, demanding warm blood. Now, her marble skin tingled wherever his lips and tongue lapped. Yes, now she had to satisfy her outwardly beast... and she knew just how to curve his appetite.
