|| You, Me and Penny Green ||

| Chapter Eight |

"Carlisle, that tape measure makes me feel fat." Iris eyed the long material as it wrapped around her center, where she was the widest. Her belly button was starting to poke out and Edward happened to think it was cute. The ginger felt otherwise.

Iris stood as straight as she could, pouting at the pudginess of her body. She had just worked off her last pregnancy and now she was back in the ring. "Seems you've grown a little past the halfway mark, twenty two weeks. It's pretty consistent; however, I should be able to estimate when you'll give birth in few days, depends if your growth accelerates."

"So it's confirmed... I am fat," She pouted as he wrote the measurements down.

"Your body is housing our son or daughter. I happen to find it remarkable, beautiful even." Edward's words would've made her blush scarlet. He was ever the charmer, throwing all her insecurities away one after the other.

Iris smiled gently as she held up her shirt, meeting the eyes of Edward. She could see the twinkle of hope in his golden orbs, something she's missed in a while. It caused a butterfly sensation to stir in her stomach. Maybe it was just the baby.

Suddenly, the front door opened and the familiar, heart melting sound of tiny feet stumbling on the wood met their ears. "Mommy! Daddy!" Penny stumbled in on wobbly legs towards the three with Esme walking in behind her. She wore a wide grin, doe brown eyes alit with excitement as she ran towards Iris. Penelope stopped just under her mother, hugging her legs before setting her tiny hand on Iris's bump.

"Hi, my love. Did you have fun with Nana Esme?" Her strawberry blonde head bobbed in agreement, making Iris pinch her cheeks with how adorable she looked. As Penny poked Iris's bare stomach, she finally brought her attention to it. "That's baby brother or sister. Do you want a baby?" The toddler didn't quite know understand where the baby was coming from or how it go there, but just the word 'baby' made her perk up with excitement.

"What would you name the baby, Pea?" Edward asked as he leaned against the door frame to watch the interaction. Penelope made a thoughtful expression before poking Iris's stomach again. "Mm, Baby!"

Everyone laughed, no one could resist the strawberry blonde's cuteness. Iris nodded with a sure smirk, "Right, newborn baby Masen will be named Baby." Edward shook his head as he picked Penelope up from the ground, hugging her to himself. If they actually thought about it, that would be quite confusing when introducing the family to the new addition. "Maybe not, darling."

"Yeah... maybe not."

It was a couple hours later when Iris was shimmying into a floor length, red satin gown. It hugged her round waist and flowed down much like a tulip. Her hair fell in lush tendrils parted down the middle, curled around her ears. She didn't want to be too bold for the opera tonight, but she couldn't help herself. The sparkling diamond earrings were too pretty to pass up. They twinkled even in the dim Forks, sunlight.

However, she was being a little cheeky by sliding on some flats instead of heels. She just knew there were going to be a ton of stairs and with her growing bump, heels were not going to cut it.

When she was done getting ready, she padded out of the bedroom towards the kitchen where she knew Edward would be, feeding Penny. She sucked in a deep breath and spread her arms as she strutted into the kitchen. Edward peered up from the bowl of spaghetti he was handing Penelope and whistled lowly when he spotted his glamorous wife. If he was honest, there was nothing sexier than seeing his wife pregnant with his child. Suppose it was a man thing, but he felt so much pride at seeing her barring his child.

"Wow, I might not allow you out of the house looking that delicious," Iris giggled as Edward gathered her in his arms, whispering low in her ear. He nipped behind the shell, causing the ginger to gasp in surprise. She lightly slapped at his chest, knowing she'd be blushing scarlet if she was human. "Eddie, stop it," She whined but she didn't really mean it.

"No, I'm serious. I can't keep you safe from harm when you're away from me. At least let me come with you," Iris rolled her eyes at him. Did she have a sixth sense or what? She knew he couldn't keep his protective urges at bay for long. A groan sounded in the back of her throat as he nuzzled the column of her neck, kissing her supple skin continuously.

"You can't come with me. This is for me and Bree to bond, no husbands allowed." She tried to protest as much as she could, stifling a sigh as he mouthed her sweet spot. He was trying to persuade her to his side, much like she had done many times before. Iris wasn't liking how the tables turned. "It'll be like I'm not even there. Incognito."

"Edward Anthony Masen - "

"I'll be the chauffeur, drive you two there and back. Darling please, it will ease my worrying." His molten gaze bewitched her completely. Nimble finger running up and down her sides in an erotic pace as she bit down on her lip, begrudgingly. The idea of not having to drive the car, through the horrid traffic sounded amazing, but she didn't want to admit that. A childish smirk crawled onto her lips as she turned out of his grasp, walking out of the kitchen to run from his charm.

"You don't have a ticket, so maybe next time -"

Edward raised a thin card from the counter, smiling a mega-watt smile as he waved it around triumphantly. "Stumbled upon one recently, right next to your seats." Iris fumed, glaring at her husband as she pursed her lips. Her shoulder sunk as she sighed in resignation, "Fine but you have to call a babysitter and hurry to get dressed. Bree should be here any minute."

The immortal couldn't wipe the grin from his face. He gratefully kissed Iris's lips, taking an extra moment to savor her plush and velvety smooth flesh again his own. With a whoop, he sped in their shared bedroom to get ready. Seeing how excited he is, Iris couldn't help the quirk pulling at her own pout. It's not that she didn't want her husbands company, she just didn't want to feel babied. Everyday she was losing more and more privileges her non-pregnant body was able to accomplish easily. The elemental was missing her risk free life.

"This place is breathtaking," Bree breathed as they walked into the music hall together. Alice was more than willing to dress the newborn up for the opera, covering the teen in a floor length silver sparkling gown. Her hair was pulled back into a low pony tail, allowing wisps to surround her diamond shaped face.

Iris and Edward stood arm and arm at the entrance. Her speckled orbs catching the finest details of the mural on the ceiling. Angelic children floating on dreamy clouds amongst the heavens, it was a vision. The couple had to tug Bree away from her spot so she wouldn't block the guests starting to arrive for the show. A rich red carpet adorned the floors all the way to the top of the grand staircase. Crystal chandeliers and sconces lit up the three story high foyer warmly, shining down on the paying guests like spot lights.

If you were here tonight, you were truly known to have some money in the bank.

Ushers handed out beautifully decorated pamphlets and champagne, which Iris reluctantly had to decline. What really was the icing on top of the cake was how thrilled Bree appeared. Her mind were on the sights she was taking in, rather than the blood pumping through the veins of the people around her. It put Iris in a good mood seeing the teen this way, because she was after all, just a teenager turned way too soon.

To Iris, the march up the stairs looked anything but graceful. However, to the others eyeing the three with awe and wonder, it was the most elegant ascend ever made. If it were a year ago, the ginger would feel completely self-conscious from the attention she was receiving. This time Iris tried her best to embrace it, seeing every glazed eye shifted her way as a compliment. She felt beautiful instead of feeling like a whale.

The lights flickered on and off to signal the show about to commence, so the three carried on to their seats. Bree was practically bouncing in her spot as she watched on from the tiers boxes above. Despite her folded hands in her lap and somewhat calm exterior, Iris noticed the childlike wonder swirling in her orbs.

The conductor subtly lifted his baton in the air, signaling his orchestra's attention before he swiftly swung his wrist in a series of directions. A synchronized, concentrated sound of strings begun to sing their sweet tunes and Iris could hear the catch in Bree's breathing. After that, Iris kept her gaze on the stage, absorbing the performance as much as Bree was. If she concentrated hard enough, she could feel a light nudge in her abdomen. It was much like when she first felt Penelope move within her, the day she laid eyes on Edward Cullen.

Now was the same sensation. Calm, until a little poke was felt.

Iris smiled to herself, eyes slightly watering as she grasped Edward's hand in her own. He arched a curious eyebrow, wondering what drew so much emotion in her gaze. When Iris tugged his hand over her bump, they both waited. The music built melodically, a satisfying lull of the cello and viola. As the violin sung it's last line before the introduction was finished, they both felt it. Another little nudge that set off a cage full of butterflies and lightheadedness.

Edward grinned, fascinated the same way he was with Penelope's kick. He didn't know how something so simple as this could melt him into the soft puddle. The immortal wasn't complaining one bit. This baby wasn't even born yet, and it already had him wrapped around their tiny digit.

Edward kissed the side of Iris's head, tenderly. His day made, once again. And all this was possible because of the woman he loved beyond space and matter, way more than voice and reason. He wouldn't rest until they were safe and sound. At peace in the comfort of their own home.

There was no one else for Edward Cullen except his newly expanding family.

Unedited.

Why am I crying right now? No clue... maybe it's EDRIS that is using up all my tissues!? Let me know what you guys are feeling, thinking, experiencing in the comments because I have no words, honestly.

Also, I thought it'd be fun to give some possible name suggestions here. Although, I think I have a handle to what I'll name baby Masen. Maybe you can guess? The official name will not be announced until the birth!
