25. You know, just like Randall from Monsters Inc.

Luke's POV

"Are you sure this will work?" I ask Emily suspiciously.

"Of course it will." She gives me a sly grin.

We both pull back and examine the piece of art. Not bad.

"Is it ready, guys?" Cole asks as he props his head into the door. He looks at the thing behind us and his face grows pale.

"Oh, god. If this doesn't work..." he begins to say.

"It will work." Emily says.

"Lets just hope the balloons don't burst before we get this there." I say. I am really doubtful for this plan. Honestly, this is the stupidest plan anyone could come up with. That anyone just happens to be my girl.

"Be positive, Luke." Emily says.

"I'm O positive." I say but only get a fierce glare in return. Just shut your mouth Luke before its too late or you'll share the same fate as Cole and would have to put suits on the balloons.

Confused?

Okay then, I'll tell you what's going on.

You see, Cole and Alice got into a huge fight. And by huge, I mean huge. The thing about #Colice- yes, that's their ship name and I ship them, hard- is that they rarely ever fought. They never got into huge fights with each other. They are the perfect couple. Peaceful. Sweet and overall everyone's dream of how a couple should be.

They usually just disagreed on some minor things but that was it. What happened was that Cole and Alice were in their dorm. They were...uhh getting it on, I guess? I don't know how exactly, but Cole accidently tore Alice's batman underwear, even the bra. Alice went berserk; she got furious with him beyond belief.

She asked him why he did that and Cole said that it happened by mistake and he didn't mean it. That's what he told me anyways and then flaunted on how he was so strong that he could tear underwear without even noticing.

Okay, back to the fight. Alice wasn't having any of it. You see, just like Emily worships anything that's Marvel, Alice worships Batman. She accused Cole of being so careless and rough. Cole told her that it was just underwear and that he would get her a new pair but Alice was being stubborn-that's what Cole told me. He said that he also apologized to her but Alice was taking a small matter to a whole new level.

Cole snapped, he called her stupid and told her to stop acting like a bitch for whining about such a small thing and that's when Alice broke down. I mean, you cant just call your girlfriend stupid or bitch, that's very mean and a big no-no for all the boyfriends. Moreover, if you genuinely love someone, those kind of words shouldn't even roam your mind for them.

Alice came knocking at my door when that happened. I wanted to punch my best friend at the moment but decided that Alice wouldn't want her boyfriend's face disfigured even though he was a jerk. I gave Alice a hug. Brought her ice cream. Watched the whole Batman series with her and let her sleep in Emily's bed because she didn't want to go back to Cole.

The next day, she didn't want to get out of bed so I left her with some movies and met Cole. He was, of course guilty and he had been trying to contact her all day and all night. He told us his side of the story and to be honest, I think Alice went a little overboard with the situation but then Cole was a jerk too.

Since girlfriends always have the upper hand, Cole was the one that had to apologize. He has been trying to since the past few days but Alice isn't having any of it. I think loosing her batman underwear had struck a nerve and I also think that a day later, after the incident, she had started her periods. She was all cranky and ate a full tub of mint chocolate ice cream. I'm just assuming...

Anyway, when Emily returned-which was the best surprise I had ever gotten-she asked me about them-after a whole day of sleeping like a baby. I told her about the argument and also about how I was trying to get them talk their problem together but being alone-without her, Justin or Alex to help-it wasn't very easy.

What did Emily do? That's a million dollar question.

She got up from the bed-from my arms- put on a jumper, grabbed some movies and chocolate and without getting out of her comfy clothes, she left.

I was a little disappointed. Yes, we were together the whole day but she was hibernating and restoring her energy and at night, when she finally had some energy, I just wanted to talk to her. I wanted to ask her about her trip and everything that she did but she just fled. Chicks before dicks, I guess.

Well, Emily took that saying to a whole new level because guess what? She didn't return the whole night! She called me and told me that she and Alice were having a girls' night which means I wasn't invited.

Cole spent the night with me but we didn't do much besides eating and sleeping.

Now, it was six in the evening and we were getting ready to set the Get-Alice-to-forgive-Cole-ASAP mission. How did this start? Well, today, when Emily barged back in to our dorm after spending the night with Alice, she already had a plan formulating in her head. Since Cole was present, she told us her plan-after giving Cole a lecture on how to be a good boyfriend and never tear girl's underwear.

Cole agreed immediately to the plan, which was obvious because he was really missing Alice. That guy just loves Alice to death. Even if Emily asked him to sell a kidney so that Emily can buy Marvel merchandise, he would do so, if it meant he would get Alice back.

Unfortunately, the plan wasn't to sell Cole's kidney. It was to get Alice to the football field for a private picnic and gift her not one, not two but three sets of batman underwear. Also, give her customized batman balloons, made by the crafty hands of Luke Collins whose batman logo looked like a centipede having a stroke.

The picnic part was good; we had ordered pizza and a bunch of snacks from the cafeteria. We had surrounded the cloth spread on the field with candles. We had to ask a fellow classmate to guard the setting, which took a lot of persuasion and twenty bucks.

I wasn't sure about the batman and the balloons part. Alice is a big fan, no doubt, but I don't want her to feel offended like we were just shoving batman to her in everything.

"This plan is a little stupid." I voice out my thoughts.

"Are you saying I'm stupid, Luke?" Emily asks, her eyebrows rose challengingly. I gulp audibly; the last thing I want is to draw captain America's shield or iron man's suit on twenty balloons.

Stupid Luke! Fix this ASAP or you'll be dead meat! My inner voice scolds me.

"No, pumpkin. That wasn't what I meant. I was just a little doubtful, that all." I say, trying to sound convincing. As small as Emily is, she can be intimidating when she wants.

"Well, this plan is going to work. Don't worry." She says. I hope so.

"Okay, guys, we should get going." Cole says, picking up the picnic basket. We gather all the stuff and start walking towards the field. After about five minutes, Emily stops.

"I believe its time for me to get Alice to the field. Hopefully you both will have everything set before we get there." She says handing us the bag with underwear.

"You can trust us." I say.

"Okay then. See ya!" she smiles and starts walking to the dorms.

"Ems wait!" Cole says in a hurried voice. She turns around to face us suspiciously.

"What is it?" she asks with a frown on her face. I turn to Cole who is looking at us nervously.

"I just wanted to thank you both for doing this, it really means a lot guys." He says. We both smile at him. Whatever the circumstance, we'll always be there for our friends.

"Not a problem. Now go and make sure everything is perfect." Emily says before turning and walking away.

Cole and walk to the field where the cloth and the candle lay untouched. A couple of steps away, sits Caleb with a book in his hand, he is the one we chose to guard the setting. We approach and dismiss him and get started on our work. I start fixing the balloons with small rocks all around the cloth. The balloons weren't anything special, they were all white, and I had drawn the batman symbol with yellow and black markers on them. We had used little pieces of black cloth for the cape. Lastly, we had taped triangular pieces of black paper like the ears of his mask.

Cole set up the food items. The pizza, nachos, pastries and what not. Finally, we lit the candles all around the cloth and then waited for Alice to arrive. I had a balloon tied to my wrist and stood beside Cole who had the underwear bag. I had brought a large chocolate bar, which was in my back pocket, just in case we needed a peace offering.

The wait wasn't too long. About five minutes later, Alice and Emily were walking into the field, talking casually. Alice didn't notice our set up until she was much too close to us.

She let out a gasp of surprise as she took in the surroundings. I could see her trying to suppress a smile when she saw the balloons and was relieved she wasn't angry. I guess, she wasn't on her period after all.

I walked up to her, untied the balloon on my wrist and handed it to her. She took it, giving out a tiny smile. I also gave her the chocolate, which made her smile a little wider. Phew! She seems to be in a good mood.

I wordlessly walk with Emily outside the field, far enough for them to have their privacy but not far enough that we cant see them. We watch them for a couple of minutes; Cole talks most of the time his hands going in all directions. When he stops talking, Alice hugs him. Cole looks shocked at first then he immediately hugs her back, squeezing her so tightly that it looked painful.

They kiss and we know that everything is right in the world. Well, that was easy.

"Your plan worked after all." I state to Emily who is watching them with a proud smile.

"Told you it would work." She says, shrugging her shoulders. We start walking back to our dorm, our hands interlocked and swinging back and forth.

"You want to grab some dinner?" I ask her.

"No, I'm not hungry." She shakes her head negatively.

"You sure?"

"Yeah." I leave her be.

I learnt that I should just close the topic if Emily doesn't want something to eat. Of course, I make sure her stomach has food in it everyday but I don't force her to eat three meals like before. She has started getting better and I don't want her to think she is eating too much because then she'll abandon food again. As long as she has at least two meals a day with some snacks, its fine.

I had already discussed this system with her aunt and it seemed to be going pretty well. We agreed that we'll give Emily enough to eat to stay healthy but we wont bug her or force her to shove food down her esophagus.

I stare at Emily while we walk. She seems to be thinking about something. She is just staring at the ground with a frown on her face and her lips twisted in a rueful manner. It's her thinking face and it beyond cute and also a little funny.

God, how much I love this girl.

Yeah I love her. I admitted it. Cue the fangirling.

"What's on your mind, pumpkin." I ask her. I like calling her pumpkin. Why? Well, first, it's a good nickname and second, pumpkins were always unique for me. They are so different from other vegetables. Their taste is neither salty nor sweet. It's tangy, different, just like Ems.

"Nothi-." She is about to say when someone bumps into her. She stumbles a bit because of the collision and I steady her by her waist.

"I'm sorry." The guy says. I can't see his face because of the dark but I recognize his voice immediately. I tense up and tighten my hold on Emily. I guess Emily recognizes his voice too because she smiles.

"Its fine, Nick." She says. Nick scratches the back of his head, trying to feign innocence. Bitch.

"Oh, Emily. How are you?" he asks with his signature smirk.

"I'm fine, what about you?"

"Oh you know, just preparing for the test we have on the opening day of school." He shrugs. Why did he take the same subject as Emily?

"Ah, you ace all the tests. I'm sure it'll work out fine." Emily says. I glare at him during their entire conversation.

Nick is bad news, kids. Just stay away from him. He can get you in all kinds of trouble.

"I was thinking that maybe we could study together tomorrow for the test." He says, running a hand through his hair and trying to be charming.

Hell no! He is not studying with Emily. No way in a billion years.

"No. You can't study together. Emily has to visit her aunt tomorrow." I say in a warning tone. Hey, I am not lying! Emily was supposed to go today to get her clothes but because of argument between Cole and Alice, she had to post pone it to tomorrow.

"He is right. I'm supposed to meet with my aunt tomorrow. Sorry." She says in a sweet tone. Sorry? Why is she saying sorry? I saved her from him!

"Its getting late and we have to get up early tomorrow, so its time we say our goodbyes." I state firmly while Emily frowns a little. She knows I don't talk too formally with anyone unless I'm really annoyed at the person.

"Okay then, good night Emily!" he gives her a charming smile while he smirks at me and leaves.

"I hate him." I state in an angered manner.

"Why? That day when you got me ice cream, you told me to stay away from him. I don't see what's wrong with him."

"Emily, that guy is the definition of trouble. He has done some fucked up shit in the past and its best if we just avoid him." I say as we restart our walk back to the dorm.

"I still don't understand. He is so kind. What wrong has he done?"

"Pumpkin, trust me. That guy is a chameleon. He can change colour so quick before you can say cookies. You know, just like Randall from Monsters Inc." I say. I shiver at the thought of Randall. That guy gave me the creeps and I was honestly a little scared when I slept in my room after I watched the movie for the first time. I constantly kept checking my cupboard to make sure he wasn't there to prance on me and use my scream to generate electricity. I was scared of Randall.

Don't tell anyone I said that.

"Okay, Mike Wazowski. Lets go, I want to watch Nemo before we sleep."

I chuckle and kiss her forehead. We reach our dorm shortly after and get ready for bed.

We watch Nemo. Have a good time together and then cuddle up on the bed to sleep.

Days like this are what I look forward to. If we exclude the conversation with Nick, the rest of the day was pretty fun.

No matter how hard it was to draw batman symbols on balloons or how frustrating it was to fix those balloons in one place, it was still fun. I got to be with my friends and do something new, something weird.

Moreover, I had Emily with me. To have her beside me every time just made my day a whole lot better. I felt content. Listening to her speak in her soft voice. Watching her play the guitar with a breathtaking smile on her face. The way she smiles and the sides of her eyes crinkle lightly, giving her an adorable look. The way she blushed whenever I called her beautiful.

I love how she gets irritated over some small things but then laughs it off. I love her personality. I love how strong she is. I love how she gives out nothing even if she is battling with her conscience over something but if you push her enough, she would tell you everything. I love how excited she gets over things like Marvel movies (cough Captain America cough).

Waking up with her tucked in my arms, holding her hand all though the day, kissing her cheek, kissing her forehead, kissing her lips and having her in my arms again at the end of the day is a perfect schedule for me. It felt so natural with her. It was meant to be like this. I knew it. We were meant to be together.

Every second of the day, I pinched myself to make sure this all wasn't a dream. I was afraid that I would fall off the bed any second and ruin all this. However, if this was a dream, I never wanted to wake up. I never wanted to loose what we had built between us.

"Good night, pumpkin." I whisper against her head like I do every night. She whispers back the good night and together we drift off to sleep in each other's arms.

...............................................................................................................................................

So... I'm sorry for the late update. I was super duper busy with school and stuff.

My mid-terms/half-yearly examinations started today. I was supposed to update this chapter after my exams but it had been too long since my last update so I thought of doing it now. So, I'll be gone for sometime but I'll be back with a new chapter as soon as my exams get over.

With that said, tell me what you think of the story so far. I'd love to hear from you.

 Love you all!

Bye!
