Emily's POV

Having an illness is bad. However, having a mental illness is worse, especially if you're fighting it alone. People mostly picture mental illness as a contagious disease. As if staying away from people with mental issues is probably the safest. People don't realize that saying a simple 'thank you' to someone can probably change his/her life. A simple phrase like 'I'm here for you' or 'I understand' can stop someone from ending his or her own life.

You must be wondering why I am ranting about diseases and depressing things, right?

Anorexia. That's your answer. I am anorexic.

People always stereotype anorexic people to be some kind of attention seekers. Like they need someone to feed them around the clock constantly. People even think that anorexics often pretend to be anorexic so that people revolve around them, offering to help.

That is so NOT true. We don't choose to become ill. Physical illness is caused by viruses, protozoans and bacteria. These stereotypical people who trigger something in our minds and make us believe that it's true often cause mental illness.

There are people who help. Like family. Family always stays throughout your life. They say with you the longest. My mum and dad were my helpers. They were my only helpers.

Tears spring up in my eyes while I remember the most beautiful memories I had with my family before it was all destroyed. Crushed to dust. Moreover, it broke me; I was shattered like a glass that fateful night.

A jerk brings me back to reality and I see that the cab has stopped. I paid the taxi driver the money and stepped out from the cab. Finally, college. Another four years of miserable school.

As if my life is not fucked up enough.

I am Emily Grace Stone. I love reading and music. Music is the only thing that keeps me going. It calms my nerves and soothes me. When I play my guitar, I feel free and can express myself better through strumming songs.

I lived with my aunt Tessa after my parents passed away. She was rarely home due to her job but she is a very kind and loving lady. She always checked up on me. She knew about my anorexia and even when she wasn't home, she always called me to check if I had breakfast and everything and I ate too knowing that she will worry if I don't. She always supports me and is the only motherly figure in my life so I try not to disappoint her.

The thing with anorexia is that I try to avoid food at any costs. I mean, what good will food do besides giving you some ten thousand calories to burn? Hey, it doesn't mean that I am too lazy to exercise or something. I just... ugh you know what? I am an ugly fat duckling. Yup that sums it up.

Anyways
. On with the current situation...

I went to the reception kind of place for my timetable and dorm number and everything.

I place my luggage and guitar near a chair and went to talk the receptionist.

"Hi I am Emily Stone. Can I have my dorm no? And time table please?" I asked kindly to her. She gave me a kind but tired smile and searched in on her computer. I guess she was tired of all these students checking in all day.

"I am sorry dear you are a little late so all the single room dorms have been occupied by other students. You will have to share a dorm with another student."

Great. Just great.

"Well then, can you tell me my new dorm no. And the student I am rooming with?" I asked. She seemed kinda relieved that I didn't protest upon the rooming topic. I mean, it cant be bad. Moreover, I will have someone that I could maybe become friends with.

"Your room number is 132, you'll be sharing your dorm with Luke Collins and here is your time table and the rule book." She said handing me the timetable and everything. But I was too shocked. What did she just say?

"Did you say I'd have to room in with a boy? Isn't there any other room left with perhaps a girl. I mean what would our parents think?" Not that I have parents. But she can't do this.

Where the hell do you see a boy and a girl being roommates? I mean, this isn't some cliché novel or something. Besides, living with a boy is dangerous. God knows what could happen inside the four walls of a college dorm.

"Sorry hun, that's the only room available. But I 'll tell you if any room becomes vacant by the end of this semester." I nodded. As much as I am against the idea, I knew its no use protesting and maybe I could change my dorm after the semester so I let it be.

This boy better not be one of those neat freaks who completely loose it if even a single hair is misplaced on someone's head or one of the creepy stalkers who just stare at you for no reason at all and look like they are about to either kill you or call the cops on you.

I shiver thinking about the various possibilities of the kind of roommate I would have while I'm walking towards my dorm.

I reached my dorm and braced myself for the worst. I knocked twice on the door and a minute later, I was met with the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. How can someone's eyes be so beautiful? Those eyes were so blue that they put the sky to shame. But then there was a mischievous smile below them.

"Well it's only been an hour since I arrived and girls have already come knocking on my door"

There we go. This was enough for me to realize that my roommate is a player. Luke Collins. Glaring at him I said,

"Sorry I am not one of those blonde bimbos you've been waiting for. Now if you excuse me I have to get myself settled."

" Feisty, I see..." He said with that smile still on his face as he let me in.

Gosh his voice!

The room was big. Like really big. Wow. It had two huge beds and two desks. It even had a minifridge! How the hell did the fridge come here? I didnt expect a dorm room to be this big and luxurious.

I took the bed in the corner of the room beside the wall. I placed my suitcases and my precious guitar beside my bed.

"So you are Emily Stone? I was told that I'd have to share the room with a girl but I didn't know she would be so hot" Luke said.

I just rolled my eyes deciding not to protest. I've been here for roughly five minutes and he already wants to get in bed. Really? He didn't say anything further as my phone started to ring. It was aunt Tessa.

"Hi aunt Tessie. Whatsup".

"Hi hun! Have you reached college? Are you settled? What's your dorm number? Did you have lunch?..." She kept rambling on.

"Yes yes yes I am fine. I am here safe and sound you ought not worry. How's Hawaii?" I asked her.

She is a flight attendant so she's always travelling.

"Hawaii is great dear such a pleasant weather. Okay I gotta go hun, just wanted to make sure you are okay. Don't forget to eat. Love you."

"Love you too, bye!" I hung up. My aunt didn't know I skipped lunch today. But nobody knows that so its okay. Though I do feel guilty lying to her. She loved me so much and it took a whole lot of convincing for her to allow me to leave for college. If she knows that I'm skipping meals, I'm gonna be dead even before you could say 'bye' to me.

I looked over to Luke who was sitting across the room on his bed fiddling with his mobile.

This was the first time I saw him properly and I have to say he is hot. Like really. He is at least 6 feet 2 inches and tall pretty built up. He has a perfectly well defined face. His dark brown hair is messy and natural which is very sexy. And don't get me started on those eyes. They are so blue and beautiful. He is flawless. A definition of perfect.

I didn't realise I was staring until there was a knock on the door. Luckily Luke didn't see me checking him out or he would made another one of those cheesy and annoying comments.

Two boys entered after Luke muttered come in. One had brown eyes and brown hair and the other had green eyes with light brown hair. Both were very good looking.

The one with brown eyes looked at me and said,

"Luke you didn't tell us you lived with an angel."

That made me blush. It was the first time I heard something as sweet as that. Luke just stared blankly at them and said,

"Guys this is Emily Stone. My roommate." Then he went to the bathroom without another word.

Wow! He was making these flirty comments just a moment ago and that's how he introduces me to his friends, who are very hot I might add. Bipolar much?

Both the boys just stared at me and the one who had complimented me gave me a genuine smile

"Hi Emily, I'm Justin and this here is Alex." he introduced us.

"Nice to meet you " I replied. Justin smiled brightly while Alex just nodded acknowledging. Justin seemed like a nice guy where as Alex seemed like he didn't give a fuck about what was happening. But hey, its too early to judge them.

Luke re emerged from the bathroom. "Ready to go?" He asked to both Justin and Alex. They both nodded and all of the three left ignoring my presence. Not that I care.

I mean, I was kind of accustomed to be ignored. In high school, I was like the most intelligent student in class and everyone just took advantage of my kindness. Every time anyone needed something related to class work or homework, they would approach me. But when they got what they wanted, they would just leave me. They simply ignored my presence and it definitely hurt sometimes.

I sigh remembering all those times that I would eat lunch in the library alone surrounded by books and silence. I have a strong feeling that it gonna happen here too.

There were still two days left for the classes to start so I decided to unpack my clothes. I started unpacking, humming random tunes.

It took me just two hours to get settled properly as I didn't have many clothes. It was 8 in the evening so I decided to play some guitar. I played guitar for almost two hours with small breaks in between. My hands started aching from all the playing and I was tired too.

I changed into my night suit and laid down on my bed with my eyes wide open. Luke hadn't returned yet. He must be at a party or something. Yup a typical bad boy.

So, this was the first chapter! Hope you like it so far. I know its short; I'll try to write longer chapters.

Thats Luke at the top!

Love ya!

Bye!
