Chapter 16: "Unexpected present."

Charlotte's P.O.V

"Hey, Char!" Elizabeth said as she approached to me in my way to the cafeteria. "Hey, what's up?" I asked as she walked beside me.

"There's a package for you at home, I saw it this morning and thought it was mine, but it wasn't," she said and pouted as if saying that she was sad, but she wasn't, "Anyway, I grabbed it and placed it on your bed."

Confused as to what was in that package, since I hadn't ordered anything from anywhere, I frowned. Yet, I thanked Elizabeth for telling me, and while we stood in line for our food to be served, I asked her something, "Hey, have you been talking to Ryan?"

She smiled widely at the mentioning of his name, I could even see her eyes glistening with the spark of love. "Yeah, we've been talking, skyping, and texting each other," she answered. "Aw, I'm happy for you Eli," I said, with the most sincere smile of mine, I was indeed really happy that my best friend had someone that loved her.

We grabbed our food trays and settled down in a nearby table which was being occupied only by our friend Henry. "Hey girls, I wanted to ask you two something, about someone," he said as we sat down, across from him, and I smiled as I saw as small blush on his cheeks, as I knew at least who he was going to talk about.

"So, what did you want to ask us?" Eli asked. "Well, since you both know I have a small crush on—" "A small crush?" I interrupted him, and giggled after his small lie. "Okay, since you both know I have a crush on Paisley, I wanted to ask you guys for, like, permission to take her out on a date. If she accepts, of course," he said and blushed.

Elizabeth and I looked at each other, and giggled at his cuteness. "Of course you have our permission, but why would you ask us?" I said, "Well, since she doesn't live with her parents, and I don't really know more than their names, I guess you two were the next thing on the list," he said, and chuckled.

"Well, talking about the queen herself, here she comes," Elizabeth said, and we laughed as we saw how nervous Henry got when she sat next to him.

"Hey everyone, enjoy your meals, we're going somewhere this weekend, and we're leaving just as you finish your last two class periods," she said as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

"Uhm, where exactly are we going?" I asked, scared of the answer. With a smirk on her face, she said, "We are going to Las Vegas, Nevada."

"It's not like I'm complaining or something, but... What the freakity-freak-freak are we going to do in Las Vegas?" Elizabeth said, trying to keep her language in a moderate vocabulary, so she wouldn't actually explode because of the sudden news.

"We are leaving today, there's a concert tomorrow—I won three front-row tickets on a radio contest—and we are definitely going," she said, putting a bit of sass on her words.

Elizabeth and I looked at each other and then at Henry, who was currently starring at Paisley from the corner of his eyes. I looked at Elizabeth, and then at Paisley, "All right, I'm in, I really need to get out of my comfort zone and leave the L.A. for a bit," Eli said.

Now, they all looked at me, even Henry, who was now interested in my internal dilemma, since I had to decide if I wanted to go or not.

"Fine, I'll go," I said, so they would stop looking at me.

Paisley's smirk turned into a huge smile, but I felt like she was hiding something. Even though I had that feeling, I decided to ignore it and finish my lunch, so I wouldn't be hungry in my next class.

My last two class periods went pretty fast according to my personal statistics. Once class finished, and we got to our apartment, we packed our bags in the fastest way possible. But, before grabbing my phone's charger from my night-stand, I noticed the package Elizabeth was talking about.

I grabbed the package, analyzing what the freakity-freak-freak—I was around Elizabeth an awful long time—was in it, but I couldn't come up with anything logical. Being impatient, I was about to open it, but my kind friend, Paisley, decided it would be nice to leave at that precise moment, leaving me with the doubt and desire to know what was in the package.

As we got in the car, I grabbed the package and opened it. I really had gotten an unexpected present.

Justin's P.O.V

"Finally!" I shouted as I threw myself in a bed. I was so happy I finally was going to get some sleep, at least before my next concert. "When is my next concert?" I mumble against my pillow, "Saturday," "That's tomorrow!" "I know, I just wanted you to feel like you had more time to sleep, so that's why I hadn't told you," Scooter said, looking at his phone all the time, because of the multiple texts he was getting.

I groaned and threw my head on my pillow again. "Anyway, I have to go now, see you tomorrow at 6:00 A.M.," Scooter says as he walks towards the door, opens it and then shuts it as he leaves.

I grab my phone from my jeans' back pocket and sit on the bed. I look for Elizabeth's number—which was provided by Ryan—and text something simple.

J: Hey, did she open the package, yet?

E: She's about to open it... What is it anyway?

J: It's a notebook and a ring, but I don't think you'll get the reason behind it haha

E: Oh, well, I'll ask her either way... Ttyl when we get to Vegas

As I finished reading Eli's text message, I realized I was pretty hungry, so I got out of bed and grabbed an SPK's—Sour Patch Kids—bag from on top of the small refrigerator that came with the room.

Even though I was hungry, my tiredness was stronger than my desire for food.

Charlotte's P.O.V

"So, whatcha got there, a dead body perhaps?" Paisley said to me as I stared at the contents of the box with my jaw hanging low.

I snapped out of my shock-state when Elizabeth, who was sitting behind me while I was riding shotgun, placed her hands on my shoulders and shook me into reality.

"No, it's just a black notebook and a small box with a daisy ring," I said, as I grabbed the smaller box with the ring inside of it. I stared at the ring for a couple seconds before sliding it down my ring finger, even though it wasn't the actual ring finger, it was the one from my right hand.

I took out the black notebook from the box and threw the box where my feet were supposed to be, but since I was sitting with my legs criss-crossed, there was an empty space.

I turned the cover of the notebook and on the first page there was this cute drawing of a girl with long brown hair and a boy who looked like Justin. I turned that page and at the back of it, there was a small poem that said:

"When I first saw you,
I thought you were an angel,
Because how can someone so beautiful,
Not come from above?

I knew the moment I kissed you,
That you were actually real,
But I couldn't forget,
The way I saw you at first,

The way your hair was so shiny,
And your smile so charming,
But when I looked into your eyes,
Oh... that's the moment I fell."

When I finished reading, my heart was beating so fast I fell it was going to explode, and I had a tear in the corner of my eye, threatening to fall at any moment. I then looked at the drawing again and now I recognized the drawing of the girl, being actually me. At the corner of the page, I hadn't noticed it before, it said:

"Don't think I drew this, it's too cute for me to be able to draw it, but the poem, I wrote it." -J

I giggled when I read that part, because I already knew that, since the drawing was so professional, it scared me that he had another talent I did not know about.

The girls looked at me and wiggled their eyebrows in unison. It was creepy how they managed to do it at the same time and Paisley was not even looking at Eli, because she was driving, and Elizabeth was sitting on the back seat.

"Call him," Elizabeth suggested, what she did not know was that I was already thinking about it. I just nodded with a slight smile on my face, before grabbing my phone and dialing Justin's number.

It rang two times before he answered. "Hey," he said, I could already see him with a smirk. I smiled at the thought of it, and said, "You know, that was a really unexpected present."
I heard him let out a nervous chuckle, and my smile grew bigger.

"I hope you liked it," he said.

"I did, I really did."

Did you like the poem? I made it out of the blue, because I really had no idea which one to put, so I just wrote it.

Hope you liked it :)
