"He set fire to the world around him but, never let a flame touch her!"

Avni was so excited to start the campaign as soon as she could. She adores dogs, more than anything in this world. And, participating in this campaign to try and save the lil pups and the most loyal creatures in the whole universe would mean so much to her.

And, surprisingly avni and neil were in the first group, followed by Dd and sunehri in the second and Ali and some other boy from their class was the third. 

Avni was about to go and accompany neil to continue their work when she heard a very familiar voice scream her name and tackle her.

"Avniii, i missed you so much ya!" Ria said hugging her for life.

"C-can't B-breathe!" avni managed to utter.

Ria pulled away sheepishly and glanced at avni longingly. Avni felt very guilty for avoiding ria because of the ongoings. The first week, she was at her grandma's house and the second week when she came back, avni was with sunehri. Not that avni had this intention of ignoring her, it happened. But, she's gonna make it up to ria, no matter what.

"I miss you too, ria. And, i am really so sorry!" avni said guiltily.

"Aye, no formalities, love. I totally understand. But, we are gonna have our quality time this weekend, okay? Then you can fill me in all the details about everything i had missed." Ria winked 

"Sure thing." avni smiled gratefully at her.

"Ab, Chalo i am gonna go search for my dumbhead of a partner. Let's hope he did not get lost somewhere," she said and left in search of her partner.

Avni smiled at her back and thanked God for giving her such an understanding and a beautiful person as someone she could call as her own. 

As she was pondering about how lucky she has been for finding such amazing friends. Of course, there will be fights, once in a while. But, talking and clearing out because their relationship is more important than anything is all that matters.

She felt a hand tap her shoulder, shaking out from her reverie. Turning around she has his face that made her grin instantly, like a kid who got her favorite candy.

Neil immediately frowned at her making her grin more. Having this enough, he scowled and said "Stop grinning like an idiot and come. Let's work!" 

Avni pouted and was about to give a fit when she heard him speak again. "Don't start with the melodrama, please. Let us go, your highness?"

Avni smiled secretly but nodded in a big no and signaled for him to add something else to the before statement. 

"What! Sorry and me? No way in hell. If you want, come. or else.." he left in between walking away groaning at Avni's antics.

Yes, a lot had been changed since sunehri came. Surprisingly, neil had become a little bit comfortable to avni and vice versa. It's a known fact that avni Ayesha is a lil brat, in a good way though. So, neil is pretty much got habituated to her antics. But, never thought she would portray them near him. But, she did. And, that tells that she is also comfortable with him as he is with her. 

But, neil always wonders who was the 'You know who'. He is attracted to avni, yes. But, then the secret girl has also a special part in his heart. After all, she is the one who had helped him at his ups and downs. And, for that, he would be eternally grateful to her. He even hoped that avni would be her secret girl. But, he knew that it was anything but the truth. 

As he was drowning in his thoughts he was pushed a front by a body. Thankfully he regained the balance and was about to skin alive the person who had dared to even touch her. He glanced back at the culprit and caught avni looking everywhere except at him, simultaneously soothing her head as if she had been hit by a rod. 

What, he workouts, ya! 

Neil was shocked to see her. Only she could do this, neil thought mentally and tried hard to stop laughing at her scared expression. Everyone around them, very very scared and practically shivering of what neil will do to avni. But, avni knew, her lil fireball was actually a complete softie at heart. But, of course it comes with a limit and avni knew she hadn't collide with him purposefully. It happened.

He slowly approached her and stood before her. He lifted her chin and made her look at him. This made her eyes widened as saucers and neil were scare that her eyes would fall off the sockets. 

Neil furrowed his brows and sighed. "Avni, stop ogling. Come on!" he said ruffled her hair for her stupidity and left. Not only avni but, everyone around her were shocked and their jaw dropped to see neil not skinning her alive and moreover showing affection. Ruffling her hair. Whoa!

A little later neil and avni had found loads of dogs and tied fluorescent bands around them so that they are safe. Avni was very happy. Dogs were her first love. Neil too. But, dogs, animals are also important na? 

Poor them!

Avni was very against the injustice animals have. They can't even speak. Poor bachas they are. So, she always has that soft corner over them. And, she would contribute anything she can do for their safety. Even it is very little. Baby steps. 

Avni stopped for a second and glanced at sunehri who was smiling at Dd as they are petting a puppy and Dd obviously flirting with her, using pickup lines. 

His famous pickup lines. Wanna, here one or even more actually!

 Pick up line-1: You must be a magician, because every time I look at you, everyone else disappears.

Pick up line-2: Where's the 'like' button for that smile? (Sunehri actually smiles for this. Avni usually uses this too. To make her understand she is beautiful just the way she is. And, make her believe smile keeps one's soul alive.)

Pick up line-3: They say Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. Well apparently, no one has ever been standing next to you. ( She said she loved Disneyland and shared her liking to visit the place. And, Dd's response was this, a lame pickup line. And, no please do not forget, for which sunehri got extremely flustered) 

Pick up line-4: And here's the most common one- Did it hurt? When you fell from heaven? (Avni would always snort when he says that, earning a playful smack from him. And, she sticks out her tongue making everyone laugh.)

Neil, avni, and ali were entertained so much that they ended laughing on the floor. But, what is important was sunehri was happy and smiling. That's all they need.

Avni smiled reminiscing the past. But, was not aware of the entity who was looking at the same adoration, maybe a little less though. 

Neil was ogling at her from the beginning. But, mind you without her knowing. He was observing her every action. 

After a few minutes, avni was petting a dog. More like, first aiding the lil guy. By talking to him, scowling at him and yelling 'Bad boy' for running away and getting hurt. Neil who was approaching her was mentally smiling at that woman's kindness. 

Bless her soul, he thought.

Avni was immersed in the pup and he was immersed in her, that way no one saw a truck approaching them because of the default brakes. When neil heard yelling of Dd's he glanced at the surroundings and then, glanced at the truck.

"Avni, move!" neil screamed.

He was very quick on his feet. He ran so fast that he could practically feel the wind blowing against him. He went to her and pushed her to side, picked up the pup and placed at his chest and took the impact. 

"Neil!" Cried Dd.

Avni who was pushed aside came into her consciousness and glanced at her savior- who was now getting help from Dd to even get up. 

Luckily it was the only side of him. But, he got hit pretty bad. Avni was just looking at him, with tears glistening in her eyes. No one has that audacity to yell at her. Because they knew neil would get berserk if she dropped a tear. Sunehri helped her to get up and took her to them.

Avni didn't know what to tell. She became quiet. Very quiet. Neil got up struggling which was very painful for anyone to watch. Avni was heartbreaking looking at him. 

The pup ran towards avni and snuggled against her chest in fear. It whimpered making everyone grab the concentration to her. 

"Are you okay?" neil asked her groaning at his injuries.  

Avni had to argue with her mind if she wants to punch him or kiss him endlessly. That man practically jumped in middle out of nowhere and saved her from danger, getting injured himself and asking is she is fine. 

Is he mad?

She couldn't speak. So, she just nodded in a no. But, neil gave her a long look that told her not to worry, he is fine. But, how couldn't she? He meant so much to her. And, to top of that, he was in this state because of her.

A little later, Dd, neil, and ali left them walking away to check up with the doctor. And, neil was limping.

She just hoped everything is fine with her lil fireball. It should be! 

Hola, how are you all? I have had a very eventful day yesterday ; ) And moreover, My exams are starting from Monday so i may not be able to update till the next weekend. So, sorry!
