Damien waited on Patton, bouncing a bit. He was really worried about what Patton meant about not liking what he saw. No, he was scared.
Patton got there soon, and Damien looked up. His eyes widened as he saw a thick bruise all around his neck. "Patton..." Damien whispered. He got up and walked over to him, hugging him close. "Wh-Why?"
The other bit his lip. "I'm sorry," he whispered, holding onto Damien. "It w-wasn't something I wanted to do, I-I....people were being mean and someone s-suggested it and I just-"
"Shh..." Damien whispered. He went over and sat down with Patton on his lap. "Hey...I'm not mad at you, ok? I'm pissed at the people who drove you to this. Ok?""
Patton whimpered and clung to him. He was sobbing now, unable to form coherent thoughts at all. He couldn't form words, he could only nod.
"Hey..." Damien whispered. "Hey....love why didn't you call me?"
The smaller boy took a bit before answering. "I-i...after I t-tried, Momma had be p-put in the psych w-ward for a f-few days," Patton whispered. "And th-they gave me medicine and too-ook my phone."
Damien sighed and kissed his head. "Hey...shh," he whispered gently. "It'll all be ok, Pat, ok? I promise you, it'll be ok. Did they put you on medicine for this? To help make you happier?"
Patton nodded and sniffled, cuddling into Damien's chest. "Y-Yeah," he mumbled, closing his eyes. "They d-did. I hate having t-to rely on medicine though..."
De bit his lip, rocking him. "I know," he whispered. "I know, but it's going to help you, love. I know it will, and I know your momma is gonna make sure you get better, ok?" When Patton nodded, Damien sighed. "I....have something to tell you though..."
Pat looked up, his eyes bleary and filled with tears. "Wh-What is it?" He whispered. Was everyone right? Did Damien hate him now? Was Caligula right?
Damien sighed. "Love....my dad is sending me to live with my cousin, Remy," he whispered. "I have to go, I don't have a choice....I-"
"What?" Patton asked, getting up. He wiped his eyes, trying not to break down again. "No th-this is a lie! Caligul-la was right, they a-all were, you hate me, don't you?"
Damien stood and took his hands. "No, Patton, wait," he whispered. "Please believe me, I wouldn't leave if I didn't have to."
Patton shook his head as he sobbed. "No, y-you could stay with me!" He whimpered. It was too much, he felt hopeless. "You can, please p-please don't g-go!"
De sighed and hugged him close. "I'm so sorry..."
He pushed away. "No," Patton whispered. "You pr-promised you'd never leave...I-I can't trust you." He didn't believe this wasn't Damien's choice. Not after hearing everyone say Damien would hate him. If so many people thought it...why wouldn't it be true?
The hurt and pain in Damien's eyes was heartbreaking for Patton, but the latter just left.
Damien sat on the bed, silently crying. Patton was angry with him. His dad was right...Patton never loved him, not if he wouldn't believe him. He started sobbing, curling up on his bed, wishing his dad had just ended him when he had the chance.
