Chapter Eight
Hey. Sorry this took a bit, and I'm sorry it's short. I have something planned, but I just needed to get this out of the way, really.
Patton and Damien had fallen back asleep after a while, just cuddled up on the blankets on the living room floor. Patton was on Damien's chest by the time the sun came up
Patton woke up first, since he tended to be up early. He blushed when he realized their position, then got up. He decided to make some eggs, an easy thing to make for breakfast. As he cooked he noticed Damien still asleep, and he smiled.
Damien looked like an angel to him. Patton wanted to kiss him, to hug on him. But he was worried Damien didn't feel the same. Even after last night...it still scared him, really, to admit it.
The other boy stirred and woke up, yawing softly. Damien opened his eyes and got up, going to hug Patton from behind. He hummed, closing his eyes. "Making eggs?"
Patton blushed and nodded, "Mmhmm." He finished them up and plated them, giving one to Damien with a small smile. "Here ya go," he giggled.
Damien smiled back. "Thanks Pat," he chuckled. They both sat at the table, happy that Romulus was silent for now. They ate and talked about nothing in particular, just chatting.
"So," Damien hummed. "When is your mom supposed to be home, Pat?" He asked gently. He knew Patton's mom worked a lot to support them. He'd offered some of his allowance to help before, but Patton wouldn't take it.
Patton shrugged. "I dunno..." he sighed. "I think later today, she was staying at her friend's house last night, one that works in the diner with her. She had a late shift last night, and an early one today." He fell quiet. He missed his mom, spending time with her and his dad. "When I'm a parent...I'm gonna try my best to be there for them..." he mumbled.
Damien sighed. "Pat...you know your mom wants to be here..." he whispered. He felt awful. Honestly, he didn't much like his own mom and dad. They didn't get along, like, at all. But he knew the feeling of missing having more good times with parents.
"I know..." He sighed, biting his lip. Patton picked at his food, thinking. "I just...I wanna be able to provide. Not only with money, but I wanna show them love and support, y'know?"
He nodded. "I do," Damien said gently. He couldn't see himself having kids, honestly. He didn't like kids at all. Never had. "I know you'll be an amazing dad."
