Fact: Pidgeons can be scared

"Look, just tell him. What's the worst that can happen?" Marcy asked, drinking a beer.
Lance glared at her. "He. Is. Not. Going. To. Learn. About. It. Never." And yet, he didn't stop stroking Jordan, who slept in his lap.
She rolled her eyes. "Come on. You two are like glued together."
"We work together."
"And? Love in the workplace is cool."
Instead of answering, he just drank lemon water from a cocktail glass. On television, Velma was explaining how the villain had fooled the whole city.
"Come on! You are so obvious. Even the blind would see it! Why don't you tell him? "
"We are just partners. And that will never change. "
Marcy narrowed her eyes and leaned closer to him. "Are you scared?" she asked in disbelief. "Ladies and gentlemen, the best agent in the world is afraid to tell anyone he's crazy about him! Unbelievable!"
Jordan flinched and clenched his claws into Lance's thighs.
He hissed in a pain.
The cat shot Marcy an annoyed look. Then he hopped off, stretched, and walked away peeved holding his irked tail high.
"I'm not scared," Lance muttered.
"You are."
He looked out the window. The still not packed Christmas bulbs flashed together with their twins in the reflection. He was scared. Losing Walter was his nightmare. He's not going to risk it just because of... just because of... the one-sided infatuation of an obsolete fool.
Walter is the smartest guy he knows. Lance likes him. He will watch his back. He will be his partner. Walter deserved someone to watch k-drama with him because he enjoys it. Who will not have an artificial knee, iron screws in the bones, and with the addition of half of the criminal underworld after them.
Walter deserved more.
After all, it was only temporary. Wasn't it? Momentary intoxication of the senses. It will go away, right?
"Wimp," Marcy snorted, watching the TV.
Lance would like to disagree with her.
