When things were just starting to get good, it all came crashing down. 

For a long time, I blamed myself. I thought it was my fault. 

I should never have spoken up, never allowed myself to be free and to indulge.

I had let my guard down, for just a moment, but a moment too long. What a mistake that was.

That won't be happening again, I had promised myself.

Those few days, those few weeks felt like a long time, like an eternity. They weren't. 

It wasn't my fault.

But it wasn't yours either.
