You stared at me from across the room. 

I looked away.

I had arrived 12 minutes later than expected and was officially 2 minutes late. It didn't matter to anyone but me, but I was still annoyed.

My eyes connected with yours as I walked into the room, and they drifted away as soon as I sat down. 

You didn't look away though, did you?
