CHAPTER SEVENTY-TWO: THE END

Lila and the siblings arrived at the Luther's place "Thank God. Hello" Lila smiled when she saw her family, your family and Claire there.

"Mom!" Claire rushed over to Allison before hugging her while Lila hugged her family.

"I'm okay. Go with your cousins" Allison told her daugther.

"No. I'm not leaving you" Claire said "Claire, please" Allison said "Come on. Let's go" Luther said as her and Klaus help Allison into the living room "Claire? We'll take care of her" Lila told Claire "Just can you and the others just stay here, okay?" she asked "Just one second. One second" she said.

"Where is Y/n?" Lydia asked "Where is mommy and daddy?" Elliott and Ellie asked.

Lila looked at your family while tears fell from her eyes "I'm so sorry" she sob "No" tears appeared in Lydia's and Martin's eyes as them and your brothers started while Lila and the siblings walked into the living room with the others.

"All right, on the couch" Klaus said as him and Luther put Allison on the couch.

"How do we beat a thing that everything we throw at it, it gets...It's gets bigger and it gets stronger?" Diego asked.

"Well, we can't" Luther said "It's only a matter of time before it envelops everything" Viktor said "So the world's ending again, huh?" Klaus asked.

Then Five appeared in the living room "Hey! Great timing. Great timing" Klaus said as Five walked into the living room.

"Hey" Five said "Five!" Klaus smiled.

"Why'd you come back, buddy? Things are pretty bleak here" Luther said "Well, I needed some time" Five took a deep breath.

"Fortunately, I had a, uh, long and eye-opening conversation with myself" Five said "What?" Klaus asked confused "I met a lot of version of me in a diner. And I had a talk to one of them" Five explain.

 "And what happen there?" Lila asked "I found out a plan" Five said and they all looked at him.

"We are the reason that this is happening" he said "You care to elaborate?" Diego asked "The marigold that infected our mothers, bringing forth our births...had an unexpected side effect. It shattered the timeline, and it broke it into an infinite number of alternate timelines. The timelines are bleeding into each other. That's how the Keepers were able to find those artifacts" Five said.

"Holy shit. Gene and Jean were right. Their dreams of other timelines were real" Lila said "So we need to go back to the original timeline before any of the other ones were created" Five said.

"Am I the only one who's very, very, very confused?" Klaus asked while waving his hands "Nope" Luther said.

"That's what Ben was trying to show me" Viktor said and you all look at her "What does Ben have to do with this?" Luther asked "Back at the department store, when I was trying to pull the Durango from his body. I had a vision. I think he was trying to show me the original timeline" Viktor explain "He tried to kill you" Allison said "But he didn't. He pushed me away to save me. I think he was trying to tell me something. That the Cleanse isn't a bad thing" Viktor said.

Luther let out a scoff "So what you're saying that thing that destroys everything it comes into contact with is good?" he asked while Five realized what they had to do.

"I think so?..." Viktor said.

"We need to let the Cleanse happen. It's the only way to bring Y/n back" Five said "What about us?" Klaus asked "There's a small chance we'll survive" Five said "What would happen if we do survive? Will everything go back to normal? Or will everything repeat itself" Viktor asked "Everything will be back to normal. If we survive, we don't have our powers. If we don't survive, at least Y/n will get a second chance in life, and the world will be back to normal" Five glanced at them.

"We need to let the marigold in our bodies merge with the Durango inside the Cleanse" Five said and they all looked at him.

"They should cancel each other out" Lila said and Diego let out a chuckled "Okay. You okay. Then what happens to us?" he asked "If we don't survive then we cease to exist" Five said.

Klaus sputtering "Old Klaus might have been down for some recreational hara-kiri, but it turns out that I'm not really not into killing myself, so, uh, count me out" Klaus said.

"Actually, it's not killing ourselves. It's worse than that. We'll be erased from history" Five said "Okay, what about the other timelines?" Diego asked "They will never existed. None of us will. No one will have any memory of this...or us " Five said as everyone's face fell.

"Does anyone else not like this plan?" Luther asked and Klaus raised his hand with Luther.

"If we cease to exist, what happens to our families?" Diego asked.

"I'm not sure" Five responded, but he hope that his kids and you would survive somehow. He rather have you live and not remembering him than you stay dead.

"Wait. No, I...I don't like where this is going, Five" Lila got up from the couch "Come on, Five. There has to be another way" Allison sat up from the couch.

"There isn't" Five said with a sad face.

They all stood in silence for a while. They didn't know what exactly to feel. In a way, it was almost calming to finally figure everything out. Put an end to all of the word-ends. Let humanity live like they should.

But why was it all Five and his family's fault? What did theydeserve to have the blame put on Them? They didn't even choose to be born. They came from ilterale nowhere, were raised to not have brains of their own, obeying an egoistic billionaire who only wanted to bring his wife back to life at their expense. And all of that for nothing. All of them to die in the hands of what made them in the first place. It wasn't fair. it wasn't fair to Five's family, it wasn't fair to Five.

Well, at least Five got to live normally for those six years with you. He learned what family truly was. He made peace with the past. He proved himself that not every relationship was fucked up.  Five probably thought that entire time that he only had save them all from the apocalypse, but you saved him from the hell he was trapped in too. The one he had trapped himself in for so long. And so did the rest of them.

Five had a great life. He were hoping he'd die from old age, sitting on a porch with his wife. Watching yours and his kids playing in the yard.

But that didn't seem to be the destiny in store for him.

"Take it easy, all right?" Klaus put a hand on Allison's shoulder "We are gonna to survive this" Klaus said.

"It's only if it don't work, the chances are small, I will say 0.005%" Five said.

"Lila, why don't you take Y/n's family, Ellie, Elliott and the others to that crazy subway of yours" Diego looked at Lila "You save them...Save yourself" he said before he looked at Five "You go with them Five. To with your kids. Elliott and Ellie need you" Diego said.

"I can't" Five said "Hey, this is your kids" Diego said "Hey, all the marigold needs to be destroyed, Diego. If Lila and I isn't here when the Cleanse comes, it just restarts" Five said "Yeah, well, good thing it's her decision, isn't it?" Diego asked "Yeah" Five nodded before he looked at Lila.

"Okay, fine" Five said.

"I'm staying with my mom" Claire said as she enter the living room.

"Claire Bear" Klaus said as Claire walked over to her mom "No" Allison said "Mom, I'm staying" Claire crouched down in front of her mom "No" Allison put her daughter's face in her hands "You have to go with Five and Lila, okay?" she said "No. I'd rather die here with you than not remember you" Claire said.

"No. Claire. I need you to live...okay? I need you to live and experience all of the amazing things that this world has to offer you, okay?" Allison said "I'll forget you, mom" Claire sob "No. We don't know that. Okay? We don't know that. I might survive this. What I do know is you have to go with Lila and Five" Allison said "No, I can't" Claire sob.

"Hey, listen to Mom, Claire Bear. Every time I do, things turn out okay" Klaus said and Claire looked at him.

"Hey, look at me. Look at me" Allison said and Claire looked back at her mom "I will always be a part of you. Always. Even if you don't remember me. You'll always be my beautiful, smart girl. And we might meet again" Allison said and Claire nodded "Okay?" Allison said before the two hugged.

As Klaus and Claire were saying goodbye, Diego were saying goodbye to his kids.  He wanted to go with them, but he know that three people with marigold surviving would be too much.

"Daddy and mommy love you three so much" Diego said as he was hugging them.

The Klaus and Claire pulled away and Claire looked at Klaus "Come here" he said with a shakily voice "Love you" he hugged her "Love you too" she said as she was weeping.

"Okay" the two pulled away "You have to go" Allison said "No. No." Claire said "Baby, you have to go" Allison said.

"Let's go. Get the family together, okay?" Lila said and Claire ran over to the family.

"Lila, Five, wait. Look, I don't wanna sound like an asshole here, but if you Five is right, you two leaving is not a good thing" Luther said.

"He's right. You can't go" Viktor said and Lila looked at Diego who nodded while Allison was sobbing stifled.

"Watch me" Lila said "Lila!" Luther said "Okay. Come on everyone" Lila and Five walked over to the family "Stand around us, okay?" Lila said.

"Lila, Five don't do this" Luther said "Hold onto me" Lila said "I'm sorry guys" Five said before the two blink away with your family, Claire and Lila's family.

"All right, come on!" Lila said as her, Five and the others were in the subway.

"Hey, you can wait here! Yeah" Lila lifted Grace up on a bench "All right! Sweetheart. Okay?" Lila smiled.

"Where are we going?" one of Lila's family member asked in Punjabi "I'll tell you when we get there" Lila explain first in Punjabi and then in English.

"Where are we going?" Claire asked "Somewhere safe, angel, okay?" Lila smiled.

Five looked at his kids who was standing with your brother and parents. He knew that this was the only way. He knew that he had to sacrifice his own life together with the others to save the world. And then he just hope that it would fix all of this, and you would come back. While he also hope that he would return. But even if he wouldn't and you wouldn't come back. He still need to do it to save the world.

Five looked at Lila "Can we talk for a sec" he said and she nodded "Stay here" Five told his kids and they nodded. 

Five then grab Lila's wrist before he pull her a little bit away "I know that look. Don't try to stop me" she said "Lila, please" he said "I can't leave them here. What if they don't make it?" she asked "Then they don't make it" he said.

Then the sound of the train approaching was heard and they saw the train arrived. 

"If we go with them, then this whole thing starts over. It doesn't end until all the marigold inside us is gone" he said "You don't know that" she said "Yeah, I do. You do too" he nodded 

"I can't leave my family here to just die" Lila said "Lila we all know that all the marigold needs to combine with the Cleanse" he said "Just because you lost Y/n doesn't mean I have to lose my love ones" she said "She dead less than a hour ago, how about you watch your mouth" Five said with tears in his eyes. 

"You have kids too, Five, think about them" she said "I am, beside Y/n would agree if she was here" Five said before he let out a sigh.

"We have to let them go, no matter how painful it is" he said.

"Lila, the train is here! What should we do?" Lila's mother called out in Punjabi.

"We might come back" he said "But it would only be 0.005%" Lila said "I know" he nodded.

"I'm sorry" Lila said before she walked over to her family "Okay, come on. Come on, everyone. What are you waiting for?" they all walked into the train.

Five then walked over to your family "Listen, I---" "We know" Lydia and Martin nodded "We heard" Lydia said.

"I wish I could stay but this is the only chance for everything to go back to normal and for Y/n to come back, even so the chance are small that she will come back, it's a chance that I'm ready to take" Five said.

"You're a good guy Five, I'm sorry for being such an asshole to you" Martin put a hand on Five's shoulder "Y/n loved you, you made her happy and that is enough for me" he said and Five let out a small smile.

Five then crouched down so he was in eye level with his kids.

"Don't leave us daddy" tears was in their eyes "I'm sorry, but I have to, it's the only way for you to grow up" he said as tears in his eyes "Beside mommy might come back if I do this. And if not, then mommy and I will always be with you two" he wipe a tear away from their eyes.

"Be nice and behave. Listen to your grandparents and watch out for each other okay" he said while the twins were crying.

"I love you two so much" he said as he wrapped his arms around them, giving them a big hug.

"I will always be with you"

Even so the chance of him coming back was small, Five believe that he wouldn't come back. He just hope that him dying will bring you back.

"We love you daddy, forever and a day" Elliott and Ellie said "I love you two, so much. Forever and a day" he said.

He then pulled away and lay a kiss on the twins' foreheads before he got up and looked at his in-laws "Please look after them" he said "Of course" Lydia said "We will" Martin nodded.

"You're good guy Five, never forget that" Lydia said and Five smiled "Thank you for looking out for our Y/n" Martin said and Five nodded.

"Come on kids" Lydia said to Elliott and Ellie "No, we wanna go with dad" Ellie said "It's okay. Go with them" Five smiled "No, we wanna stay with you" Elliott said as the two grab their dad's hand.

Five knew that his kids wouldn't leave him, so he walked into the train with them.

Just as the door to the train was about to close Five and Lila walked out of the train just as the door closed.

"MOM!" Grace said "No, Lila!" Lila's family was clamoring. "Mommy!" Grace said "Daddy!" Ellie and Elliott said.  

Lila then bend down so she was in eye level with her daugther while Five did the same with his kids.

"It's okay, love" Lila smiled as her and Grace put a hand on the window while tears was in Lila's eyes.

"I'll see you soon, okay?" she smiled.

"It's okay, everything is going to be okay, look after each other and be nice to your grandparents" Five put his hand on the window as Elliott and Ellie did the same while tears fell from Five's eyes.

"I will see you two soon, okay?" he smiled.  

"I love you so much, and I'm doing this for you" 

The train then started moving and Five and Lila started running next to the train.

"Lila!" the family cried out "Make sure you read to Gracie every night, okay?" Lila said "Mommy! Grace cried "And don't let the twins fight!" Lila said.

"Make sure to read to Elliott and Ellie every night, tell them stories about us. And make sure they don't fight" Five said as him and Lila kept running next to the train before they stopped running when their path stop and the train drove into a tunnel.

 While tears was falling from their eyes, they both fell down on their knees while crying.

"It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay" Lila sob as her and Five watch the train drove into the tunnel and out of their sight.

Five and Lila looked at each other before they hug comfort each other, comforting one another over saying goodbye to the people they love the most.

"I hate you for this" Lila whispered as she cried "I know" he said as they comfort each other "I hate you. I hate you for this" she cried "I hate myself too" he sob.

Luther, Allison, Klaus, Viktor and Diego was in the Academy's living room. "So, uh...now what?" Luther asked "Guess we just wait" Viktor said "I'm sorry, guys. If I'd have know we were gonna die here, I would have cleaned up" Luther said "Well, at least your laundry's clean. I mean..." Klaus said "Actually, it's not" Luther said.

Then they heard monstrous baying in the distance which cause them to look towards a window that had something that covered it up.

Klaus got up before walking towards the window and he remove the stuff from it to look out and the sound of shrill shrieking was heard as they saw the monster not far away, coming towards them.

"It looks angry" Klaus said "What gives you that impression?" Viktor asked and Klaus let out a chuckled dryly.

Then Five and Lila blink into the living room which cause the others to look at them.

Lila looked at Diego who got up "The kids?" he asked "Yeah, they're safe" she said before looking at Allison who got up "And Claire" she said "She is with my family, safe" Lila said.

"Where is Elliott and Ellie?" Klaus asked "They are with Y/n's family. They will be safe" Five said  "Think they're gonna be okay?" Allison asked "Yeah" Five nodded "My family will take care of her. So she will be okay. She's never be alone" Lila said.

"So..." Luther got up "We gonna do this thing?" he asked.

None of them wanted or was ready to die, but they all knew that it was the only way so they all nodded.

Then the sound of thunderous stride crashing was heard and they could heard the roar from the creature have gotten bigger so it was right outside.

"All right. Moving!" Klaus said "Come on. Let's go" Luther said "Quickly" Klaus said as they all walked into the entrance of the Academy while the sound of guttural bellowing was heard and some tentacles crash the windows and they came into the living room.

"Oh God. I loved those windows" Klaus said as they all stood in a circle.

"All right" Luther said "Doesn't matter anymore" Klaus said.

"Well, maybe we should go around the circle and, you know, share our favorite moments together" Luther suggested.

"What?" Allison asked "Barf" Klaus said "Let's not do that" Five said "It's a really bad idea" Lila said "Yeah, it's terrible" Diego said "That's a terrible idea" Klaus said "Yeah, bad call" Luther nodded.

"So since we have all lost beloved Y/n. And she never got an funeral. How about one of us hold a speech?" Klaus glanced at the others.  

Five took a deep breath "Someone once said, that it's love that makes the world go round. And if that's true, then the world spun a little faster with Y/n in it. She was my best friend since we were young. We certainly had our struggles but if there's one thing we agreed on unconditionally, it was our love and commitment to our kids. Her love for our kids was joyous and fierce. That fierceness is why she isn't here today. A parents love is an unrivalled force of nature, and we can all learn much from the way she loved her life. Her death cause each of us to stop and take stock of our lives. To measure who we are and what we've become. I don't have all those answers for myself, but I know who she was. She was the person who died protecting the people she loved, and I will make sure that our kids grows up knowing who their mother and if we don't survive this, I know Y/n's family will know who their parents was, and who we were. And how we loved and protected them. And how much I loved her. If she was with us now, she would tell us, not to mourn her death, but to celebrate her life. She would tell us to love our families unconditionally, and to hold them close because in the end they are all that matters" Five said.

"Tha was beautiful Five" Klaus said "Yeah. You're a good guy" Luther said.

"Okay, so...what do we do?" Diego asked "Just power up, I guess" Five suggested and Viktor looked at Allison "You feel strong enough for this?" he asked "Yeah" she nodded "I think so" she said.

The sound of keen, clear resonance was heard as their chest started glowing orange.

Klaus shudders as their chests glow more brighter orange.

"Uhg, I'm feeling..." Klaus said as they were all powering up.

"Okay. Now what?" Diego asked "Now we wait" Five said.

The sound of booming stride in distance was heard and the sound of distorted explosion echoing was heard as the tentacles from the creature came through the windows and towards the Five and the others.

Another tentacles came through the door and everyone knew this was it.

"I'm sorry you left Canada for this" Allison said as she looked at Viktor and he looked at her "I'm not. This is where I'm supposed to be...with my family" he said as he put his right hand on her shoulder.

"You were right" Diego said and Lila looked at him "Don't" she shook her head "I see you" he said and she looked at him "I finally see you" he said and tears appeared in her eyes as she reach out her left hand for him to take it which he did.

Five glanced at Lila and Diego as the sound of hoarse growling was heard as the thick fire color liquid slime stuff from the Durango started falling down from the room as the sound of fleshy oozing was heard as the creature was right above the roof.

The liquid slime stuff started running down from the roof, down the stairs and towards Five and the others.

Klaus looked behind from over his shoulder to see the liquid slime stuff coming closer to them before touching them and they flinch as the liquid slime stuff touch their feet.

"Uh...." Luther said while Klaus let out a yelping as the thick liquid slime started to run up from their legs, slowly merge with them and absorb them.

"...Five?" Luther asked.

"Don't fight it. Let it take you. Just let it go" Five said.

"Whoo! It stings" Klaus said "Yeah. I know. Right, buddy?" Luther smiled before he pur his right hand on Klaus shoulder while Klaus put his left hand on Luther's shoulder "Hold on, okay? It's almost over" Luther said as they were slowly being merge with the Durango.

Lila looked at Five "I owe you Five. You backed that ridiculous subway plan of mine, even though it got us into a mess. You stood by me, even when I was too stubborn to admit I was wrong. You helped me see it, so I hope that I can repay you one day" she said "Best sister-in law I could ask for" Five said "Yeah, despite our rocky start" Lila said with a smile.

For the first time in his life, Five was scared. He was of dying, he was scared that this wouldn't work and you wouldn't come back and him and the others would stay dead, but then he would be with you in the afterlife.

"This is for you, Five" Klaus said and Five looked to the left to see you appeared next to him which caused him to smile.

You reach out your hand for him to take it which he did.

"AH!" they all wincing as it hurt on them.

Lila then started chuckling "Thank you for letting me be in your weird family" she said and the others chuckled.

"Thank you Five, for everything you have done" Klaus said "Yeah, we really appreciate it" Viktor said "Sorry for being so selfless to see everything you have done for us" Luther said.

"Thank you Five, you're a good brother" they all said which caused Five to smile.

"Oh God, I'm gonna miss you guys" Luther said "I'm just glad we're all together in the end" Viktor said "No more legs and eggs, eh?" Diego said and the others chuckled.

"It's time guys" Diego said "I'm going to miss you all" Klaus smiled "But let's do this shit" he said.

"If somehow we do survive. I'm sure we will find each other again. We always do" Luther said.

"You didn't have to do this guys. Thank you for letting me part of your weird family. I love you all so much. Especially you, Five" you said.

"You know that you're not all that bad, Y/n. You're a good sister-in-law" Luther said and you squeezed Five's hand.

"Maybe we'll see each other again" Allison said as the liquid slime stuff reach their chests "That would be nice" Five said as he looked up while liquid slime stuff reach their necks.

"I love you Five" you said before fading away. 

"You know, I just wanna say, I love you guys...but you are all assholes" Klaus said and the others chuckled.

"Fuck you" Lila said and Klaus chuckled.

They all closed their eyes and Five thought back to all the lovely memories he had with you as the liquid slime stuff absorb them all. Forming seven pedal flower before being fully consumed.

The world suddenly disappeared around Five, every sound distorting and fading into nothing.

As they were absorb it was like all the timeline faded away before the right one got restore again.

 ----

You were living in a huge house and you had just put the twins to bed when the doorbell rang and you run down to see before opening the door.

"Hello Love" you smiled when you saw Five standing in front of you.

"You're back" you wrapped your arms around him "Yeah" he hugged you tight.

"Is this real?" you asked and he nodded "It is. I'm really here" he kissed your cheek.

"No way, you're actually here" you said "I guess I am" he said and you started crying "I can't believe it" you sob "Come here" he pulled you into a hug.

"I was so scared you didn't make it" you cried "So was I" he said "I love you" you said "I love you too" he said as you both had your eyes closed.

"But how?" you pulled away "I don't know, the others and I all woke up in an abandoned building. Sloane came back, Allison, Lila and Diego got reuinted with their kids again. Before I found you, I wanted to make sure that everything is okay" he said "And?" you asked "The other timelines are gone" he said and you smiled.

"I think the powers was it, the marigold needed to be gone, since we can survive and still be alive without the marigold in us, it only gave us our powers, we survived. but since the marigold is gone, so is our powers. We don't have our powers, but we are still alive, the marigold just needed to be gone, which it is. No more broken timelines, no more end of the world, no more apocalypse" Five said "It's over?" you asked "It's over Love, we won. We live a happy life together, a normal and happy life" Five said and you smiled before kissing him.

While kissing him he step forward making you step back and he close the door with his foot.
