CHAPTER FIVE: I PROMISE

Flashback starts...

YOUR POV.

I arrived at my parent's house to only find it in ruins too which cause my eyes to widened "No" I said as tears was show in my eyes.

"MOM. DAD!" I shouted before rushing towards the rubbles.

"DAD. MOM. ROBERT, JESSE, GABE!" I called out as I was moving the rubbles, trying to find their bodies.

"Y/n, they're gone" Five said "You don't fucking know that Five. They are not gone, not until I have seen their bodies" I said before I turned back to look through the rubbles, moving every brick I could.

"JESSE, GABE!" I called out, hoping for a response.

I let out a grunt as I moved a huge brick out of the way "ROBERT. JESSE. GABE!" I shouted as I was looking through the rubbles for my family.

"MOM. DAD" I shouted as I dropped to the ground and tried moving the rubbles around while tears was running down from my eyes.

"Y/n" Five said softy before he grabbed my shoulder, trying to pull me back "Just stop it. Stop" he said and I turned to him "No, what--what are you---" I said before I turned back, trying to move the rubbles of my house "Stop it, you are gonna hurt yourself" he said as he tried to pull me up "Let me go" I said as I turned around, throwing a fist at his face, hitting him causing him to stumble back with a grunt.

"Just leave me alone!" I shouted at him as tears was falling down from my eyes.

"Gladly. I knew this was a mistake" he said "Well, glad we agree on something" I said "I'm leaving" he said "Then leave" I said "With pleasure" he said before he turned around "FUCK YOU. I HOPE YOU DIE!" I shouted at him "HOPE YOU DIE TOO. AT LEAST THEN I'M ALONE. AND I THINK THAT IS BETTER THAN BEING WITH YOU!" he shouted back before he gave me the finger as he walked away.

I then turned around before I continue looking through the rubbles, in search for my family.

Flashback ends....

Five let out a softly grunts as I was stitching up the wound on his arm.

I then grabbed a child band-aid from a box labeled Billy and The Choo-Choo before placing it over his wound carefully "Thank you Love" he said "Anytime Hon" I said as he grabbed a clean button shirt before he grabbed another clean umbrella suit.

"Come, let's get out of here" he said "Where are we going?" I asked "To spy on that doctor" he replied "And then get more information out of him when he is alone" I said "Exactly, we are thinking the same" he said and I smiled before I walked over to the window and opened it while Five put the stuff we need in a huge green bag.

"Let's go" he said before he put the bag on his back and walked over to the window.

We then crawled out of the window and down the fire escape, then we heard a voice coming from down the alley and we looked down from the ladder that let to the alley to spot Klaus in the dumpster bin, looking for something.

I put one foot on one of the bars on the ladder that lead to the ground with Five behind me.

"Shut up! I'm trying to find whatever...priceless crap was in that priceless box...so that Pogo will get off my ass!" Klaus said as I jumped down on the ground.

Who the hell was he talking to? He is probably talking to some ghost. 

"I'd ask what you're up to, Klaus, but then it occurred to me" Five said before he stopped in the middle of the ladder "I don't care" he said "Hey" Klaus said with a laugh "You know there are easier ways out of the house, buddy?" he asked "This one involved the least amount of talking" I said as Five jumped down on the ground before walking over to stand next to me "Or so we thought" he said.

"Where are you going?" Klaus asked "None of your bushiness" I said "So you guys are going on a date? Making out? Or have coitus?" Klaus asked "No" we said "Oh, trouble in paradis?" Klaus asked "No" we said again.  

"Well then, in that case, do you two need anymore company today?" Klaus asked as he moved over to the edge of the dumpster bin "I could...uh...clear my schedule" he said before taking a sip of his liqour from his bottle.

"Looks like you've got your hands full" Five said "Oh, this? No, no. I can do this whenever. I'm just..." Klaus said but then he felled backwards into the dumpster bin making a clattering sound.

"I just misplaced something. That's all" Klaus said as he grabbed around for things "Oh! Found it" he said before stood up, showing a half eaten glazed doughnut "Thanks God" he said and he let out a sigh before he took a bite of the doughnut "Delicious" he said with a gulp.

"How does he survive without a brain?" I asked as I looked at Five "I have no idea" he answered before he looked back at his brother.

"We are done funding your drug habit" he said before we turned around, walking away "Come on! You don't...Maybe I just wanna hang out with my brother and his wife. Not you" Klaus said as he took a quick look at whoever was sitting next to him.

"'Mi hermano!' Cuñada'! I love you! Even if you can't love yourself" Klaus said as the sound of two doors slamming and engine starting was heard and Klaus spit out the donut as Five drove away.

"Why does this van remind me of that van you crashed in the apocalypse" I said before we both chuckled as we thought back to that moment.

Five parked the van across the street from the lab "There is our guy" I said as I pointed on Lance who entered the building "Alright, now all we need to do is wait" Five said "Patience have never being my strong side" I said "I know, but sometimes we just have to wait" Five said "I know" I said "Have you taking your pills?" he asked "No" I said before I pulled up the small container with pills.

I took one put before putting in my mouth and swallow it. I then put the container in my inner pocket again before I put my headphones that was around my neck up on my ears and I pulled up my walkman from my pocket before I press play and it started playing some music.

I leaned my head against the window before I closed my eyes, trying to get some sleep, since I have not had a good sleep in years.

I have being suffering from insomnia since I was little and it was getting better but then the apocalypse happen and the insomnia returned.

Flashback start...

FIVE'S POV.

I was walking through the apocalypse "Jesus I hate her. Of all the people in the whole world, I had to get stuck with her. Well, she can fuck off. I'm better on my own" I said aggressive as I was waving with my hands "I have also lost my family, but I'm crying about it" I said but then it was like my feet stopped.

I clenched my fists as I took deep breath "I know she is not the nicest person in the world, but I'm no better either and having another human being with you, no matter how annoying they can be. It's better than being alone" I said to myself before I let out a sigh.

"I can't believe I'm doing this" I said before I turned around "I'm gonna regret this" I said as I started walking back.

YOUR POV

I was standing by the rubbles. I had my fists clenched and was digging my nails into my palm causing small part of blood to drip down.

I started gasping and I could feel that my vision was blurry.

I was on my way to having one of my seizures. "Not now" I said as I could feel my pulse was raising and my heart was beating fast.

"Calm down" I said to myself as I tried to take some deep breath but it didn't work and my legs gave up causing me to fall to my knees.

"Y/n" a voice said and I looked up to see Five in front of me.

He could see that something was wrong, so he took a step closer to me but I help up my hand causing him to stop.

I quickly put my headphones which was around my neck on before I pulled my walkman out of my pocket and pressed play.

As soon as I heard music through my ears, I could feel my whole body calming down, my heartbeat and pulse was slowing down

FIVE'S POV.

Y/n moved over to a huge brick before she leaned her back against it "What happen?" I asked "Why do you care?" she asked "I'm just trying to be nice" I said "Yeah, that don't get us anywhere. So drop the act" she said and I let out a scoff as I shook my head slightly.

"If we are going to stay together, we better warn each other if we have a disease or get seizures" I said "I don't even know if you can call it a disease. But my heart is not healthy. I just have a past where I have gotten many seizures and panic attacks. It have become better, but I still get them when I get scared, nervous or is stress" she said "What do you mean, your heart is not healthy?" I asked "My heart can't handle the panic attacks and seizures. I can get panic attacks and seizures, if I'm too nervous, scared or stress or angry. And if it keep going and get worse, it will do so my pulse will start raising and if my I'm not calm down here, then it will do so my heart will start pounding really fast. And if it's get worse and if I don't calm and I don't get control over my galloping heart beating, it will collapsed, my heart will pound too much and it's simple stops which mean I will get a heart attack. And my anxiety, panic attacks and seizures don't make it better, of course it can become a lot better but I still get them and it's dangerous" she said "Why?" I asked.

"My panic attacks, seizures and my anxiety can get my pulse to start raising and pounding too much which will trigger my heart to start beating faster and that is not good for my heart. It need to have the normal beating. Every time I have one of the seizures or a panic attack. My family have always being able to calm be down. And as I grow older, my parents was told by a doctor that I needed something to help me when I'm alone, something that can help me calm down. Therefore my family bought me this walkman which is filled will all my favorite songs to help me with this and it have helped me a lot. So if I'm alone and get one of the seizures. This walkman will help me and it has. And now with my family gone, all I have to help me through is this walkman" she said and as she lifted up her hand where she was holding her walkman.

My face fell a bit, like I felt sorry for her and I felt bad for her.

Flashback ends...

FIVE'S POV.

A few hours have passed since we started watching the building.

I looked at my wife who had her head rested against the car's window, sleeping peacefully.

I watched as her chest slowly rose and fell. I let out a smile as I could see how peaceful she slept.

I knew that Y/n have had trouble sleeping for years. And after the lost of Adam and Milo, it broke us both completely but most Y/n, she became depress, woke up in the middle of the night screaming. Couldn't sleep, her anger issues got worst, her panic attacks and seizures came more often, she would sometimes not get up, so I had to go out alone. It just got worst and worst and it didn't help at all in the apocalypse. I tried my best to take care of her, it help, but not much.

One day when I came back after searching for some food, I saw that she had cut herself and was about to kill herself by cutting her own throat with a sharp piece of glass she have found, she have also being cutting her wrist, hoping to hit a vein.

I froze completely at the sight but lucky I reach to blink over to her and stop her. I patch her up, and were stopping her, when she tried again.

She kept telling me to let her die but I was able to get her back out of suicidal thoughts by saying how much I love her, and remind her of how we promised to never leave each other and I mentioned how Milo would have wanted us to live on.

Because of that, we were able to get through the pain together. I got her out of depression.

But a part of Y/n was still more broken than me and I have always being keeping a close eye on her, making sure she was alright. I was always nervous and scared of leaving her side cause I was afraid that she would try to do it again.

I smiled as I stroke my finger down her cheek. I was happy that I had her by his side, I didn't knew what I would have done if I haven't met her in the apocalypse or if I had lost her.

I think that it was wonderful, that in a world of nothing, her and I found everything in each other.

I then turned my head and pulled up the eye from my pocket before looking at it.

Then I heard the sound of children laughing which cause me to look up and out of the van to see three kids kicking a ball "Kick it over here!" one of the kids said as they all laughed while they passed the van and that made me think of Milo and Adam.

If Milo was alive today, he would being a young man in his late 20' and Adam would be in his mid 20' if he was also alive today since he was five years younger than Milo.

Good I miss and think about my sons all day everyday.

I wish they was here.

Flashback start...

"Daddy, daddy" a voice said and I turned around to see my five-year-old son came running towards me, holding a toy figure in his hand "Hey buddy" I said with a smile before I lifted him up in my arms.

I looked at my son, he had Y/n's beautiful Y/e/c eyes and he had my dark brown hair, that almost look black. His hair was more darker than mine.

He was the perfect mix between Y/n and me.

Even so he was only five years old, he was very smart of his age.

"Did you had a good time out scavenging with mom?" I asked and Milo nodded "It was so fun" he said with a smile "That's good" I said before putting him down.

"Tell dad what you found, Milo" Y/n said and Milo lifted up a green small toy dinosaur "I found this" he said "That's very cool" I said "Can I keep it?" he asked "Of course you can, just made sure that it behave and don't eat all of our food" I said "Thanks daddy" Milo said with a smile as he hugged me.

"Milo go play while your dad and I will make dinner" Y/n ssaid "Okay" Milo said before he ran over to a corner and sat down before he started playing with the toy Dino and the other small toys for kids that we had found.

"How are you?" I asked as I put my hand on her five months pregnant stomach "I'm fine, we're fine" she said and I smiled before I gave her a quick kiss.

"He grow up so fast" I said as we both looked was starting the fire "Yeah" Y/n said as she got the food ready.

After we had got the canned food ready, we all three sat around the fire, talking while laughing.

Even so it was the apocalypse, we were actually a happy family that short of time.

Flashback ends.

A single tear fell from my eyes as I thought back to that moment.

I really hope that Y/n and I could stop this, so she can see her family again, so I can met them and so her and I can live a normal and peaceful life together and if she wanted to, maybe try again with having kids.

I turned my head to look out the window but suddenly some dust started raining from the car which cause me to look confused.

What the hell.

I turned my head to the right to see that Y/n was gone which cause me to panic.

I opened the door before stepping out of the van to realized that I was back in the apocalypse.

I felt my heart started to race as I started to shake.

"No!" I yelled and a tear fell down from my eyes as I looked around "No!" I yelled out again as my voice was echoing "Y/N!" I shouted while looking around and that's when I saw my wife's dead body farther ahead

"No. No" I said as I ran towards the body and I felled down on my knees before I picked her body up in my arms "NOOOO" I screamed in pain.

YOUR POV.

I woke up to the sound of mumbling and I turned my head to see Five shaking.

"No" he said "Honey" I said as I noticed that his eyes widened slightly and his breathing pattern changed.

"Y/n" he mumbled, his voice breaking and shaking "Five. Fivey. I'm right here" I said as I grabbed his shoulder before shaking it while I moved closer to him. But nothing happen, his eyes was still widened slightly and his breathing pattern changed.

"Love" he mumbled again "Hon. I'm right here" I said a little louder.

I then put his face in my hands before I turned his head so it was facing mine and I pressed my lips against his.

After few seconds his breath hitched and he blinked a few times with his eyes, like he was coming back to reality and he started leaning into the kiss, kissing me back

"Five, are you okay?" I asked as we pulled away "I--I" he said as he started breathing heavier "It's okay. Take your time. Deep breaths, deep breaths" I said as I stroke my thumbs down his cheek while we were staring into each other's eyes.

"I--I was back again and I--was a-alone. You---you weren't there. I--I saw you were laying d-dead in front of me and I--I couldn't--I couldn't save you" he said, his voice breaking and shaking as he was freaking out.

But then there was a knock on the window "Five" a voice said and we turned to the sound to see Luther who opened the door.

"What are you..." he said but stopped himself when he had trouble getting into the van because he was so huge.

"Oh, my God..." Luther said as he grunted while getting into the van causing it to shake a bit.

I actually found this very funny and tried my best not to laugh.

After a few tries, he finally managed to get in and he started panting as he closed the door "That was entertaining" I said "Shut it" Luther hissed "Grumpy, your time of the month" I smiled "Shut up" Luther snapped before he looked at Five "You okay?" he asked.

"You shouldn't be...How did you find us?" Five asked as he narrowed his eyes at Luther.

"Um..." Luther said and nodded his head to the back of the van causing the three of us to turn our heads to look at the back to see Klaus.

"Hello. Sorry for interrupting your guys sweet moment" Klaus said with a smile and Five grabbed something before he threw it at him, causing Klaus to let out a small scream.

"Get out! You can't be here! We're in the middle of something" Five said "Aww, were you two about to do it, 'cause it was looking like it" Klaus said and Five and I rolled our eyes.

Klaus then scooted up to us "Any luck finding your one-eyed man?" he asked "No" Five whispered "What's he talking about?" Luther asked "Does it matter? It's Klaus" Five said before he let out a sigh.

"What do you want?" Five asked Luther "Um...So Grace may have had something to do with Dad's death. So I need you to come back to the academy, all right? It's important" Luther said "'It's important' You have no concept of what's important" Five said.

"Hey. Did I ever tell you guys about the time I waxed my ass with chocolate pudding?" Klaus asked and let out a laugh "It was so painful" he said and I looked at him "What is wrong with you?" I asked.

"What are you still doing here?" Luther asked as he turned to Klaus "What? I...What? I need an excuse to hang out with my family and my sister-in-law?" Klaus asked "We're trying to have a serious conversation" Luther said "What, and I'm incapable of being serious? Is that what you're saying?" Klaus asked.

"I don't mind Klaus staying, I like him, he is funny" I said and Klaus looked at me with a smile.

"Luther's got a point, you should get out" Five said "What?" Klaus asked, looking at Five who nodded, gesturing for him to get out of the van.

Klaus let out a sigh before he turned around, sliding the door open and stumbled out of the van "Fine!" he shouted at them before walking away.

"You two are idiots, kicking your own brother out of the van like that" I said.

"What is it you want?" Five asked Luther "You should get out too" Luther said as he looked at me "Why?" I asked "'Cause you are not family" Luther said "I am. I'm married to this guy who is your brother" I said as I pointed my thumb on Five "Not official" Luther said "Try to kick me out of the van, I dare you" I said calm but in a threated way.

"Fine..." Luther said before he let out a sigh "What the hell are you two up to?" he asked "You wouldn't understand" Five said "Try me. Last I checked I'm still the leader of this family" Luther said "Last time I checked you lost being the leader of the Academy a long time ago, moonboy" I said.

"Also last time I checked me and Y/n are 28 years older than you" Five said I'm 29 years older than you Luther" I said "That still doesn't make your little girlfriend part of the family" Luther said "I'm not his girlfriend, I'm his wife" I said "Yeah, Y/n and I are married and she is my wife which mean that she is part of the family" Five said "Well, last time I check, you guys are not official married and none of you are wearing a wedding ring, so you are not official married, so you are only his little girlfriend which mean you are not part of the family, so get out" Luther said "Don't talk to my wife like that Luther, or I will threw you out of the van and break your bones" Five threated and Luther rolled his eyes.

"You know what your problem is?" Luther asked as he was looking at Five "Really hoping you'll tell me" Five said sarcastically "You think you're better than us" Luther said before looking back at him "You always have. Even when we were kids" he said and Five let out a sigh "But the truth is, you're just as messed up as the rest of us. We're all you have" Luther said and I cleared my throat "He has me" I said but Luther ignored me.

"And you know it" he said "I don't think I'm better than you, Number One. I know I am" Five said and Luther chuckled "Y/n and I have done unimaginable things, things you couldn't even comprehend" Five said "Right" Luther said annoyed "Just to get back here and save you all" Five said.

I knew what unimaginable things Five meant. I were Five's reason that he stayed sane and he was mine. Everything we had done, all the missions we both had gone on, Five did it to protect me and save his family, and I have done it to protect Five and save mine. 

Five and I have being through so much together. We were a team and we stay that way as long as we both lived, just like we promse each other.

"Hey, bitches!" Klaus suddenly shouted and we looked out of the driver's side window to see Klaus running across the road with things in his arms.

As he ran, half of the things fell on the ground behind him while he was chased by a police officer who was blowing a whistle and yelling at him, telling him to stop.

A car came to a stop and the tires screeched on the road causing Klaus to drop more things "Out of the way asshole" he said as he swerved around the car before he kept running.

I let out a small chuckled, I like Klaus, he was actually my favorite of Five's siblings. 

"Now I'm starting to wonder if that was the wisest decision" Five said as we followed Klaus with our gazes.

"Fine, then don't come" Luther said as he walked out of the van and left.

"I know you want me to like your family, hon. But Luther is really starting to piss me off" I said "Yeah me too" Five said before he looked back out the window while letting out a sigh.

"You okay?" I asked "Yeah. I'm okay" he said but I could see that he wasn't fine "Don't shut me out, Fivey. We've been through too much shit for you to start shutting me out now" I said "I'm not shutting you out" he said "I can see something is wrong. So please tell me" I said and he looked down "Hey" I said as I turned his head so he was looking at me.

"It's just you and me" I said as he stared into my beautiful blue eyes "You can talk to me and you know it" I said and he let out a small smile.

Five and I had always found it easy to express our feelings to each other, even so when we first met, we hated each other. But as that hate slowly turned into liking and caring, we found out that it was easy for us to express our emotions and thoughts to one another and that was one of the reasons we fell in love.

"It's just, what if we don't save the world" he said "What do you mean?" I asked "What if all the things we went through, all that we sacrifices were for nothing, something goes wrong and we don't save the world" he said "Five, you are stressing yourself out. "The world is not gonna end, we are gonna stop this. Then you can finally meet my family and then we can live that life we talk about living while we were in the apocalypse" I said "Yeah and I can't wait" he said and we smiled to each other before we shared a kiss.

Then we saw Lance came walking out of the building holding a suitcase "There's our guy" I said as Lance waiting for a few seconds until a car approached him and he walked over to the car.

Five and I narrowed our eyes as we saw Lance give the suitcase to the person in the car "What the hell is he up to?" Five asked as the person in the car gave Lance a yellow envelope before it drove away and Lance walked away too.

Five then grabbed my hand before he blinked away.

Flashback start...

A heavily and cold blizzard had appeared and we were doing our best to keep ourself warm.

I had a thick blanket wrapped around my body as I was shaking while Five was sitting 10 feet away from me with a thin and smaller blanket around him. He was freezing and shaking more than me since his blanket was not enough to keep him warm.

"Are you sure you don't want to cover here, so we can share my blanket?" I asked "No, it's okay, I'm fine" he said as his whole body was shaking "Are you sure, I don't----" "I'm fine, okay" he said cutting me off "Okay" I said.

He is so stubborn.

"It's never a weak thing to be kind and gentle. In fact it takes strength to carry this yoke and wisdom to have compassion for those who do not"
