Anybody in high school knows that Friday night football is the most favorited sport in School. And going to the games every Friday was the thing and anybody who didn't go was considered an outsider.

Of course that Label wasn't the reason why I went. I went because of Ben and Colton. I was Ben's biggest supporter and fan which meant I couldn't miss a game for the life of me. Yesterday Colton asked me to come so I could see him play - which I obviously agreed to do.

Here's the thing, if you haven't guessed - Colton was the quarterback.

In my opinion he was decent, but a lot of times he rarely ever threw to Ben even if he was wide open. It's kind of ridiculous if you ask me, especially since Ben is the best receiver our team has. Luckily the couch threatens Coltons position if he doesn't start throwing it to open receivers, so all hope isn't lost.

I dressed in one of Ben's Football hoodies and jeans that made my butt look good. Then I straightened my hair for the nice weather and wore my favorite tennis shoes. Shortly before 6:30 Layla, Jenna and Aubrey showed up at my house. Jenna was driving so I piled in the backseat with an excited Layla.

We made it to the stadium before the game started and found our seats in the student section that was now packed. Glade West high school was a nice school, and our stadium had a nice track and a grass football field. It was 10x better than other schools that could only afford an gravel track. The sun was just now setting and the sky was clear which meant no rain for tonight - the humidity of the day had dyed down and the perfect weather had invaded our township.

Layla sat down next to me with Jenna and Aubrey on the other side. The football game made way and by the time halftime came around the score was 24-17. We were winning.

"Oh God, Ben is so hot" Layla said dreamily while admiring his perfect body from far lengths. She rested her head in her hands and continued to admire him from a distance. "I mean, come on. Look at his butt! Ugh" She exclaimed. Luckily she only said her statement loud enough for us three to hear. I groaned and rolled my eyes.

For me, Ben wasn't the guy I was looking at. It was Colton. He was sitting on the bench drinking water, his elbows on his knees. His uniform was almost completely white still (which was good for a Quarterback) while Ben's wasn't even white anymore. The sun had set long before now and the air was quite breezy.

It was the perfect night for football.

The 3rd quarter eventually started and while it did the most annoying person I've ever grown to know sat down in front of me.

Reagan

"Oh hey girls. Are you all here to see my future- boyfriend play?" She questioned while twisting her tree brown, short hair between her fingers. She looked at me with a piercing look - almost as piercing as her winged eyeliner. If I didn't know how mean Reagan could be I would honestly call her pretty - gorgeous even. But being mean and rude doesn't make the looks worth it.

"Who's your future- boyfriend?" I asked tauntingly. A small grin spread across my lips , humor coursed through my veins.

"Benedict" She said while biting her lip-stick covered lip. She twirled around to face the game with her girls by her side. I scoffed, they probably didn't even understand football.

"I'm sorry but Ben doesn't date hoes" Layla chirped in. I was in pure shock that Layla would stand up to her like that and for a moment I wasn't even sure if it was Layla that even spoke.  Reagan turned around with a look of pure disgust and disbelief plastered on her face.

"Well I guess that explains why he has "Libs" trapped in the friend-zone then" Reagan mocked. I was about as close to slapping her as a monkey is to eating a banana.

    That bitch.

"For your information I don't like Ben like that. We're just friends and that's all we'll ever be. God" I said completely annoyed. I rolled my eyes and Reagan chuckled like she just won a major battle.

"Just friends? I think you're just trying to get in his pants. Besides, Ben only goes after pretty girls" She remarked with a glare so evil it reminded me of Cruella de vil.

"I've been his best friend for years. Everyone knows, so why now? Why are you just now deciding to make up lies" I asked. I was furious, mad. So so so mad at Reagan I couldn't even describe the frustration I felt coursing through my bones.

"Because now I want him" She said. "And I don't want anyone to get in my way"

She stood up, brushed off her behind and left the bleachers. I hadn't even realized how much time had flown by because there was 1:30 seconds left on the clock. We were down by 6 points.

I mentally prepared myself for the amount of anger Ben would have if they lost - which would mean a sleepless night for the both of us.

I remember one night specifically they lost pretty bad, and let's just say - Ben was pissed beyond control. I remember he went home and wouldn't speak until I came over and made him Mac and cheese - which eventually helped calm him down. But even after that I witnessed him pop his football with a knife.

That was probably the most violence I had ever sense come out of him - besides when he smashed Coltons face in - but neither the less, that was years ago and I doubt anything similar would ever occur.

The clock was running down to 8 seconds and as soon as the ball was snapped at the 35 and was in Coltons hands - he threw it.

I knew - as did everyone else - that this was a lost cause. In order to score a touchdown someone would have to be in the end zone ready to catch a football that was thrown 65 yards away.

Hope was lost. Or so I thought.

Because in the last 3 seconds the ball was flying threw the air directly at Ben who was being double guarded.

   Ben jumped to catch it

And in a few seconds flat the ball landed in Ben's hands and the other two players tackled him from both sides.

But it was too late.

       It was a touchdown.

The whole crowd went wild. I was standing on my feet jumping up and down with excitement. My head was spinning while the whole team lifted Ben on their shoulders. He took off his helmet as his teammates surrounded him. I couldn't have been more happier, more excited than I was now, even after my encounter with Reagan.

Layla was about as excited as I was and I couldn't help but let off my smile when the football team separated after their after-game pep talk.   I went running up to Ben - excitement plastered on my face. And in the moment when I flew into his I can't express how happy I truly was, even when the smell of dirt and sweat filled my nostrils.  Ben released the hug shortly after, joy was the only expression I could read.

"Jimmy's having a party tonight. Wanna come?"  He asked excitingly. Normally, or any other day I would've said no. But today was different, Ben's happiness was through the roof and I couldn't ruin that. Not now.
