It was Sunday afternoon, and you know what that means. Intense freaking out and process of my room becoming a mess - all because of one guy that made my feelings sky-rocket and my Brain to send crazy love signals to my racing heart. I was a nervous wreck, and the worst part was - Ben had ditched the whole plan on making me calm again. He decided to hang out with Easton instead of lowering my heartbeat to normal again.

I sat in bed with nervous glanced at the clock that read 5:30. I had my black dress on that Ben didn't want me to wear, and some tall but not-so tall heels. My hair was straight because I figured it would match the theme of the black dress, and my makeup was done just right so it wasn't too much, or too little.

I piled on the perfume in hopes that it would cancel out my worries and make me smell good. Finally I got the text from Colton saying he was outside waiting for me, but it's not like I wasn't waiting by the window or anything. My curfew was 11:00, so I was pretty confident that tonight's date would go well. I walked outside and got in the passenger side of Coltons expensive car with a bright smile on my face. I was more than nervous that we wouldn't have anything to talk about.

"Wow" Colton said with a stunning smile. He looked at me to the point I grew a little uncomfortable, but I still couldn't help but blush when he finished his sentence. "You look absolutely gorgeous" He continued. I blushed even harder.

"So do you." I said. Crap. "Uh, I mean you look handsome and attractive. You know what I mean" I sighed. Great, the first time I speak tonight I end up messing up miserably. Colton laughed and pulled out a pack of mint gum.

"Want a piece?" He asked. I cautiously looked at him. Was this a way of him telling me my breath stunk? Great.  I clenched my teeth, unable to conclude what his offer truly signaled.

"Uh.. does my breath really stink that bad?" I asked, finally deciding that I was going to be straight forward. Colton looked shocked and instantly spoke hurriedly like he didn't mean for me to take it that way.

"No! No, not at all. I just thought you might like a piece" Colton added genuinely. I smiled and took a piece from the pack, Colton took one too and then threw it in the console that held 3 other packs of gum.

"Jeez, you must like gum a lot" I added while admiring his stash. Colton glanced at where I was staring and laughed.

"Yeah, but not as much as I like you" Colton added. He seemed really sincere and for a moment I was taken aback. I never would've expected my crush from middle school to tell me he liked me, never in a million years.  My heart started to beat faster than a roller coaster and I didn't know how to respond. Of course I liked him too, but I didn't feel like admitting it. I didn't want to seem too excited.

But in reality I've never been more excited in my lifetime. I remember in 6th grade when I started to like him, but instead he went after the other girls that were pretty and that skipped the awkward middle school stage. Meanwhile I was all about the ponytails and the cool clips with mustaches and peace signs. I wore clothes that made me look ugly as fudge, and unfortunately I was a little late when it came to hitting puberty and growing some boobs.

And finally when I came to high school as a freshman, I had figured out life. But sadly, I was never pretty enough for the Colton that upperclassman had found interest in. Now, being in the same car as him was a step forward, but I never would've expected to hear the words that I had wished to hear many years ago.

I like you

"Well... I'm a dumbass" Colton concluded, but his facial features fell and I could tell he had taken a meaning to my silence.

"I like you too Colton, it's just I find it hard to believe you would like me out of all people" I said. Because it was true, my self esteem was pretty low sometimes, especially when it came to guys being interested in me.

"Then how would you explain this date? I mean this is a date, right?" He asked. I looked at him, completely awed with how gorgeous and perfect he looked.

"You're the one that invited me! So that means you're the one that decides if it's a date or not" I said. Colton laughed and started driving with one hand while the other was in his lap. I looked at him more intensely, admiring him for a moment before he spoke.

"Well then it's a date" He concluded. I smiled.

       •*•*•*•****

The restaurant Colton took me to was beyond fancy and screamed expensive. There was a nice water fountain out front that spilled into a pool of water and pennies. The greenery was full of life and the bushes were shaped into a hamburger and a taco. I was beyond amazed because I didn't remember ever being here - probably because it was too expensive for my wallet.

The restaurants interior was pure white with gold trim, and almost everything in the building looked breakable. I was afraid to even touch anything because I've had a past for breaking things. Like one time I broke my moms vase, well actually Ben did. But I took the blame for it because "Ben was a good kid".

The waiter seated us at our table that was perfect for two people, and once again I sat there staring at the perfect guy I could possibly imagine. For the first time tonight I asked myself a important question. Was this actually real? Or was I just dreaming?

"I think I'll have a steak. What do you want?" Colton asked me. I looked at the menu closer, seeing that almost all the meals were 20 dollars and up. But to be fair, Coltons steak was more than 30. I finally settled with the chicken strip basket like I almost always did, no matter what restaurant it was.  I made sure to get extra ranch dressing, because you always had to have ranch with chicken no matter what.

"So... taking you on a date wasn't the only thing I wanted to do tonight" Colton said. Instantly, as if on cue, my heart beat started to increase rapidly. It was like I had just taken drugs and the effects were just now showing. What did he mean by...not the only thing. What, did he plan on having sex tonight? Because that would just end this whole thing before it even started.

"I also wanted to get to know you better. What's your favorite color?" Colton asked. I calmed and my heart felt relieved. I could finally breathe again.

"Probably Orange. What about you?" I asked. Truth be told, I already knew. In middle school I kind of low-key stalked him, plus it was back in the day when kids wore their favorite color like a fashion statement. Pretty much the only color he wore was blue, so I could see his next words from miles away.

"Definitely Blue. But not dark blue, more like a sky blue" Colton said. I processed his words while glancing around. I noticed his dress shirt was white like normal, but his tie was blue. The shade of blue he liked more than the rest.

"What's your favorite animal?" I asked, trying to ask a more interesting question. For a moment I seemed really cheesy but I soon decided that if we wanted to have a relationship, we would have to get to know each other first.

"I really like Koalas. They're lazy just like me" Colton said while comparing himself to a koala. I couldn't help but snicker about how weird it sounded coming from a high school senior.

"I like giraffes" I added.

"That's kind of ironic when you think about it. I mean, you're like 4'0 while a giraffe is at least 10 of you combined" Colton said. He laughed and I sent a humorous glare that made him laugh harder.

"For your information I'm 5'1, definitely not 4'0" I said while taking a bite of the chicken strips that were displayed in front of me. Colton eyes settled from being completely amused to something much more. He looked me in the eyes, heartwarmingly and gorgeously. His eyes worked their way down to where he was looking at my chin, and then my chest. All in one I felt a rush of emotions course through my body like an electric current. It's almost as if all he had to do was look at me and I felt like the prettiest girl ever.

"I like your size. Besides, it would lower my self esteem if you were taller than me" Colton added. I smiled and watched him take a bite of his steak, which for some weird reason looked really hot. That was definitely not normal for me to find a guy attractive when he was eating food, was it?

Okay, it definitely wasn't.

"How tall are you anyways?" I asked, finding this information to be pretty interesting. I never really thought about his height before because I guess it didn't really matter to me.

"6 foot exactly" Colton in a proud tone. I smiled and glanced at my food, considering that maybe the reason Ben didn't like him was because Colton was taller than him. But Ben was 5'9 which was only a tiny but shorter than Colton.

Besides, the reason was definitely more serious than height.

"What's something about you that nobody knows" Colton asked. For a moment I thought deeply about it, but I concluded that there wasn't anything. Ben knew almost everything there is to know about me, and the stuff he didn't know was stuff I definitely wouldn't tell Colton. Especially on our first date. I decided to tell him something mild that Ben already knew, but Colton wouldn't know that.

"Well, when I was a sophomore a couple of my friends and I t-peed your house" I said honestly. I remembered the day pretty clearly. Ben and I decided to t-pee the persons house that I liked, and that was of course Colton. I knew Colton would use it as another excuse to hate Ben if I told him it was Ben and I, so I just made him think it was some of my girlfriends instead.

"Oh, that was you? I literally spent hours cleaning it up and here I thought it was Jared or something" Colton laughed. I laughed too, because I was almost surprised we got away with it. His house was huge and the whole time I was worried a guard dog would come out and attack us, or that they had motion detectors that would turn on the outside lights.

"Your turn" I said. I was excited to hear what he had to say. Colton smiled and gave me a smug look, one that made my heart beat wild.

"Okay... well. I've liked you since last year when you accidentally bumped into me in the hallway. I remember your stuff fell everywhere and I helped you pick it up. Do you remember that?" Colton asked me. Just hearing him say all this made me smile, it made me laugh but it also made me a tiny bit frustrated. If he liked me then why didn't he go after me earlier in life?

"You bumped into me. I didn't bump into you" I corrected. He laughed placed his fork on his empty plate and wiped his chin with his napkin. I finished the last chicken strip and placed my fork down as well.

We left the beautiful restaurant and went outside where the pretty fountain was. It was illuminated in the dark with lights that shone onto the water. Colton rummaged around in his pocket and took out two pennies, one for me and one for him. He placed it in my hand and I held it there for a while, thinking about every possible wish I could make. The possibilities were endless, but I eventually settled on the one I wanted more than anything.

But if I told you, then it wouldn't come true anymore. I stood there, and watched as Colton threw in his penny and afterwards I threw in mine. He looked at me and smiled.

"What'd you wish for?" He asked me. I chuckled and laughed because there was no way he would ever find out.

"What'd you wish for?" I asked, turning the question around on him. Colton smirked.

"I wished that you would come on many more dates with me" Colton said. I smiled a radiant smile, and a part of me was hoping his feelings would last forever. That his feeling towards me would never die, because I figured if mine have lasted this long - then maybe we had a chance.
