Chapter 22

"I didn't think I'd get a bloody nose during dinner I am so sorry," I remarked as we left the restaurant.

Andy and I had been at our dinner date and right in the middle, I had a bloody nose come on. In recent years, I have not had any of those. But, I used to when I was little and would always get them at school. Perhaps it was an anxiety thing.

"No need to apologize I'm just glad it stopped finally," Andy remarked as we walked to the car.

"I feel like it was the weirdest thing to happen to me recently," I told him.

He chuckled.

"It's not that big of a deal," he told me as he opened the car door for me.

"Thank you," I commented as I got into the car.

I took a sigh of relief as we settled into the car. We were supposed to go to the movies now but I was hesitant.

"Did you still want to go to the movies? We could always go back to my place if it's easier since you had a bloody nose," Andy said.

In my heart, I knew he didn't have ill intentions. He was very sweet and careful with everything.

"I mean whatever you'd like. I'm not good at picking or making decisions," I replied as I buckled up.

He chuckled at my comment.

"Really?" he asked as he turned the car on.

"Yeah I'm not the greatest at picking stuff," I told him as he pulled out of the parking lot of the restaurant.

"Well, then why don't we just go back to my house? I'm sure there is a movie we can watch from the comfort of the home instead," Andy commented.

"S-sure," I replied nervously.

I was a 26-year-old grown woman nervous about going back to a guy's place. What has happened to me?

The drive to Andy's house was quiet. I had never been to his place in all the months we've known each other.

The silence was defying on the drive on the freeway.

"You're awfully quiet is something the matter?" Andy asked me as we came to a stop.

The traffic was bottlenecking going into the beach area.

I turned my attention to him.

"I'm sorry I get lost in my own thoughts," I told him.

He smiled at me.

"I do that a lot," he chuckled.

"Yeah I mean don't get me wrong you are doing everything fine I'm just," I remarked.

"Nervous?" he asked.

I sighed.

"Yeah nervous," I told him.

Andy paused for a second.

"Have any guys wronged you before? I promise I'm not that way," he defended.

I panicked.

"No no, I wasn't thinking you were like a bad person. The only thing is I've only been in one relationship before and I just don't know how to act I guess on a first date," I explained as the traffic started moving.

"It's got to be difficult and different but we'll take it one step at a time I promise you," Andy replied as he reached for my hand.

I felt a little less nervous. It was the thought of giving someone yourself and time to someone after so long. I thought how could this sweet man sitting next to me get taken advantage of and used?

"Here we are," Andy remarked as he pulled up to the house.

"Wow it's beautiful," I told him as he parked the car.

"I think it's the most lovely home I've ever lived in," he told me as he let go of my hand and turned the car off.

"It must have been waiting for you," I told him.

He smiled before getting out of the car.

I took a deep breath as he came around to open the door for me like a gentleman.

"Thank you," I commented as he held his hand out to me to help me get out of the car.

"Of course darling," he remarked.

Did he just call me darling? I didn't question it. It made me feel good on the inside. But, who knows, he could call everyone darling.

We walked up to his house. The nervousness instead subsided a bit.

He unlocked the door.

"Here we are," he remarked as he led me inside.

The house wasn't unusual. It was nicer than most guys Andy's age would have it. Including a dog who was walking up to Andy as we walked inside.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. This is Sam. Sam this is (Y/N)," Andy commented as he shut the door.

I bent down to let Sam get used to my scent.

"He is adorable. What is his breed do you know?" I asked Andy as I petted Sam.

"He's not a bred dog. He was at the pound. I got him after my last relationship," Andy explained.

"He's very calm is he an older dog?" I asked as Sam rolled on his back.

I chuckled.

"He really likes belly rubs. Oh, and he's definitely an older dog. They were gonna put him down if I didn't take him," Andy replied.

"Oh my gosh it was like fate then," I told him as I stood up.

"Yeah I've had a lot of fate recently in my life," he told me with a smile.

I looked down at my shoes. I was carried away with how calm I felt for the first time with him in this perspective.

"How rude am I. Would you like something to drink?" Andy asked me.

"Water would be fine," I told him.

"I'm not gonna charge you if you want a soda or something," he joked.

I chuckled.

"I figured that but water is fine thank you, Andy," I told him as we walked to the living room.

Sam followed us. He approved of my presence which made me feel great.

I paused cause I really needed to wash my hand after petting the dog. I had a slight allergy to dogs.

"Where is your restroom?" I asked Andy before we sat down.

"Oh down that hall to the left," he told me.

"Thanks," I commented as I went to the restroom.

After I was done, I came back to Andy with several VHS tapes on the coffee table and the water  I had asked for.

"Okay so I take you aren't like a scary movie fan but I think you are more like a  classic movie watcher," he remarked.

I looked at the VHS titles. He had "The Breakfast Club," "Return of the Jedi," and "Mary Poppins."

"I haven't seen Star Wars one before. Is it good?" I asked him.

"Yeah I think it is. I like the sci-fi aspect of it," he explained.

I was not a Stars War fan. Let alone a Star Trek fan.

"I think Mary Poppins would be kind of nostalgic," I told him.

"Then we shall watch Mary Poppins," Andy commented as he grabbed the tape to go and put it into the player.

I waited to sit down till Andy turned to look at me.

"I'm not gonna bite if you sit down," Andy joked.

"Right," I remarked as I sat down on the couch.

Andy got the video going as he came back and joined me.

I glanced at my watch and it was a little before 7:30. The movie was over 2 hours long. I wasn't complaining.

After a while as the movie played, Andy put an arm over my shoulders.

I leaned my head on his shoulder. He sighed contently.

"Sometimes I forget Dick Van Dyche was in this," I randomly commented.

He chuckled.

"That's true and also so random that you'd say that," he told me as he readjusted on the couch.

I readjusted my head on his shoulder. I glanced out of the corner of my eye and he was smiling as we stayed in this embrace.

Cozing up to Andy Gibb on a Saturday night.
