Chapter 8: Talking and Glaring

Error continued staring in shock at Ink, who hadn't lifted his head up from looking guiltly at the floor, he must have heard the other wrong because he was positive the other didn't just basicly say that he had judged him for his actions without knowing why. That can't be it, shouldn't the Creator know why his "counterpart" did what he did? Error didn't know and this lack of knowledge reflected onto his question as he asked "what?"
Ink's guilty look seemed to increase as he fiddled with one of his gloves before saying "I always just assumed that you just liked destroying without asking if you did... I never tried to look at you as anything but a killer... I was just..." Ink's fists clenched at that moment as he thought of all the battles the two of them had, all the injuries the other gained without even hitting him, about all the times Error just tried to escape and Ink perused him without mercy, before yelling more at himself then anyone else "I WAS SO STUPID!"
Error could only blankly watch in shock as Ink stud up and started pacing lightly hitting himself on the head with the palm of his hand as he kept calling himself stupid. After a few seconds of this though the Creator shifted gears and started yelling to himself "GREAT JOB INK! YOU'RE A GENIUS ASUMING YOU KNOW SOMEONE BASED ON YOUR FIRST MEETING! YOU'D THINK YOU'D KNOW BY NOW NOT TO JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER AFTER MAKING THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF AUS WERE THAT WAS THE CASE! BUT NO! YOU GO AND ASSUME YOU KNOW THE ONE PERSON YOU HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MAKING BASED ON MEETING HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME WHILE HE WAS DESTROYING AN AU! AMAZING INK JUST AMAZING!"
As Error watched he couldn't help but be shocked by this display of self shaming Ink was doing, it just seemed to out of character for the Creator to Error. He had only ever know the Creator as determined to do what he believed was right, which was protecting his AUs from the guy trying to get rid of them. Yet here Ink was, berating himself for making a rash decision, it was slightly unnerving. Especially since Ink didn't seem to know about the balance, something that had been nearly beaten into Error's skull. Why? It didn't make sense! Shouldn't both sides of the balance know it exists?
Error was quickly pulled out of that thought thought when Ink suddenly stopped and sat down on the floor face hidden in his hands as he said, much to Error's own surprise "I'm sorry... I should have done better... I know you probably don't trust me..." A laugh escaped Ink after he said that before exclaiming "and why should you! After everything I have done I don't deserve it!"
Ink then looked at his current companion before saying with as much sincerity as he could "even so I... I want to try and do better... I don't expect you to trust me any time soon, if ever, but..." Ink looked down at his hands shaking.
Error watched Ink for a bit as the but hung in the air, he wasn't sure what he should feel... Relief that things we're changing? No, he couldn't feel that, Dream prevented that. Worried that Ink was trying to get his guard down? No, it didn't seem likely any more, not after at least the two chances Ink had to attack him while he was out. Desperate hope? Yes, that was it, a desperet hope that maybe, just maybe, things would change. That maybe he could be free... But with no positive emotion to support this, no excitement, no relief, no determination. All this brought was a small desperet hope to keep the feeling of safety, the only thing Dream hadn't been able to take because he never once felt safe. Not in the Antivoid, not in Nightmare's castle, nowhere but here, and he wanted it to stay. So he asked to see what Ink was trying to say "but?"
Ink continued to look at his hands as he says "But, even so I want to try and earn your trust... I want to actually get to know you... So..." Ink suddenly looks Error strate In the eye as he says "I want you to keep my 'soul', proof that I am at your mercy. If you ever feel like you no longer need to be afraid of me then you can give it back to me as... I don't know a show of trust in me to not hurt you."
The destroyer didn't know what to do, he knew he should be relieved at the offer that he knew would keep him safe, but he felt nothing. Nothing at all, and it saddened him a lot. Ink seemed to notice the odd change in emotion though in him and asked "Are you OK?"
Error shock his head to dislodge the sadness, it wasn't like he could get those emotions back so he had nothing to be sad about. So with as steady of voice as Error could manage, which he knew sounded monotone, he said "I'm fine... Just tired..."
Before Ink could say anything Error got to his feet and walked away back over to the bed he had woken up in twice over now and ploped down doing his best to ignore the thoroughly confused Creator and everything he had just learned. He didn't want to think about what he should feel about this.

-A few hours later-
Ink was sitting on his beanbag nervously working on a randome piece of art, absently he stopped his outlining to look over at Error who had passed out on the bed some time after Ink's attempt at trying to start making amends. He didn't understand what had happened, he figured Error would be at least relieved to hear that he was going to try and get to know the true Error and not make any more assumptions.
Yet the other had looked blank... The same look Ink knew he gained when his soul wasn't close by, but why would Error be like that? And why did it only seem to be with positive emotions!? Dream made sure everyone... He was suppose to make sure everyone could feel happy... No... He wouldn't do that... Would he?... Would he have taken away Errors ability to feel positive emotions?
Ink knew he could do it, if Nightmare could take the fear from his "minions" as the multiverse liked to call them when they we're about to fight an uneven battle then Dream had to be able to do the same. He made them to be the same with only their magic focuses being flipped. So if Nightmare could remove negative emotions, then Dream could remove positive ones.
But why!? It didn't make sense!
Ink didn't get to think on it much longer though as something started buzzing in his jacket pocket. He pulled it out and stared at it for a few moments, he often forgot he had this thing, a phone Dream had for some reason seen the need to give him. He never used it since he perfered speaking to others in person, and Dream was basicly the only person besides Blue to have have his number. A quick look though told him that it was Dream calling.
With a lot of hesitation Ink answered the phone saying "hello?"
Ink had to pull his phone away from his skull as the "embodiment of positively" yelled into the other end "What in the Multiverse have you been doing!? I've been trying to get in contact with you for three days since the meeting ended!"
After quickly checking to make sure the yelling hadn't woken Error, who was thankfully still fast asleep on the bed, Ink actually registered what Dream had said. Three days huh? Not the longest he had slept for so it didn't bother him much, but considering he should have been waiting to see what the councles decision was if they decided on something it was kind of not the best. Oh well, so Ink replied calmly "I was tired Dream, I fell asleep within minutes of getting home. I didn't even know the phone was buzzing till a few minutes ago."
On the other side Ink could hear Dream sighed at that Ink assumed was the "embodiment of positivity's" anoyence at the creators absent mindedness. Dream then said "should I come over to tell you about what they decided?"
Ink panicked a bit at that, he didn't want Dream coming over and finding Error. So in attempt to prevent that he asked "How about we talk about it over lunch instead? Maybe in overtale?"
Ink was positive he could hear Dream raise his brow bown in confusion at Ink's desire to go somewhere else to chat about something so important, but the other seemed to relent to the odd request and said "fine, we'll meet in overtale. Meet me at World of coffee in 10 minutes." And with that Dream unceremoniously ended the call without saying goodbye.
That struck Ink as odd seeing as Dream usually didn't just hange up without a goodbye, but he just chocked it up to Dream still being mad at him. So with a shrug Ink grabbed his large paint brush and, after checking on Error once more to make sure the other was comfortable the way he was sprawled out on the bed, Ink opened a portal into overtale in an ally only a block away from his favoret coffee shop. With a flick of his brush Ink closed the portal back to his domain as he felt his feelings leave him, but it was nessasary. He wanted to prove himself to Error, and to do that he needed to be something Error never saw him as, not an enemy.
So, he'd deal with it. He'd deal with the lack of emotions he possessed away from Error, it was after all the least he could do. With a bit of work he made himself appear as happy as he could before walking out of the ally, giving a wave to all those who passed him by and greeted him as their Creator. After a few minutes of this Ink finally made it to his favoret coffee shop, World of Coffee. It by no means was there anything special in the looks department about the shop with it cream brick building and it's huge windows showing the simple dark oak tables and red booths that made up the bulk of the shop. What made it stand out though to Ink was the rich diversity of coffee beans from all over the world which gave the coffees the shop produced a wide variety of flavors.
Quickly the Creator entered the shop and ordered after a bit of thought two cups of his favoret blend of coffee and a dozen of the different varieties of muffins the shop possessed. He figured Error would probably feel somewhat better if he had some more magic in his system and the fastest way to do that would be to have the other eat some food, and what better to get then some of the best food Ink knew.
After paying for his order with his near limitless supply of gold Ink walked over to a booth in the back corner of the store to wait for his order and Dream. He didn't have to wait long for one of the two as within a minute or two of sitting down he saw Dream enter the building. The "embodiment of positivity" didn't take long to spot Ink in the corner, but he didn't come over right away. Which didn't surprise Ink really as he watched the other go up and order something, if he had to guess it was probably the others usual of hot chocolate since his friend didn't really like the taste of coffee.
Once Dream was done paying though he headed strait over to the Creator in the corner and sat right across from him.
The two sat there in silence for a minute as Dream glared at Ink for some unknown reason seemingly assessing something before finally asking "why?"
Ink did his best to mimic confusion at that moment before asking "what do you mean?"
It was then that Dream clarified as he glared at the Creator "why didn't I feel any emotions from you at the meeting and why don't I feel any emotion from you now."
