Chapter 5
Brooks
It's been about a week since I last interacted with Rommie. I really need to get her proper name, that name is really annoying me.
For some strange reason I have been wanting to talk to her, but the most I've done is hold a few seconds of eye contact.
I'm honestly too nervous to talk to her, not sure why. Maybe it's because she might be getting close to the truth. Yeah, that must be it.
We had a biology test yesterday, we are going to be getting our results back today. I relly hope I did well, if I fail again my mum would ground me for life..
I walk into the science lab and sit down in my usual seat. Everyone was already there, maybe I took a little longer then I thought.
As soon as I sat down my test was put in front of me. 73% not bad, hopefully mother will be okay with this.
I look behind me to see Lucy and Alice, and send them a thumbs up. Lucy ignores me but Alice give a big smile and give a thumbs up back.
Maybe Lucy didn't pass, that's why she is upset. She isn't usually this grumpy. Sure she's a bug grump most of the time, but somthing is different today.
I turn to the front, but my eyes stopped as I saw the Rom girl. She is really pretty today, like more than usual. I look down and see she is still wearing her boots.
She is still a strange person, but I think that's what I like about her, she's different. I look back up and see she is looking right back at me.
My eyes shoot wide open and I turn away trying to hide my blush. Why does she have that much of an effect on me?
I smile and continue to listen to the teacher blab on about how goats can basically eat anything and why that is so.
......
I put my books back into my locker and grab my bag, making sure I have my test with me.
I hear the Rom girl walk past me with her friend, I forgot her name. Gosh sometimes I forget how I remember my own name.
I walk out of the school doors and run up to where I see the Rom girl standing near the gate. "Hey!" I say a bit too excited.
She looks at me slightly confused, "Hi?" I look down at her boots and try and hide my huge smile.
"Um sorry," I say nervously, "I just wanted to know how you did on the test."
She looked even more puzzled this time, "I did pretty good, I got 90%." she let's out a nervous laugh.
"Wow, now I know why people think you are such a nerd." I smile, she gives a small smile back, "not to kill the mood, but I still don't know your actual name. Lucy calls you Rommie and everyone else calls you need girl."
She rolls her eye but still holds her amused smile, "My name is Andromeda."
I furrow my eyebrows, "Now I see why no one calls you by your real name."
She let's out a small laugh, "well now this is awkward."
"What, why? Did I do somthing wrong?" What am I doing? Why am I so scared of her not liking me.
"No no you didn't do anything, you think of a better nickname for me." She gives me a small smile, "I've got to get going now."
Just after she left Lucy came up behind me. "Why where you talking to that filthy lesbian?" She asks, clearly disgusted.
"She's bisexual," I answer rolling my eyes, "and I was asking a question."
"Whatever, but you're coming to my house tonight to have some drinks." She said as if telling me I have to be there.
"Okay, I'll tell mother that i'll be staying at your house tonight." I give a fake smile, "I need to go now."
......
I walk in the door and jump, dad is just standing there staring. "Um are you okay?"
"Oh you're home, finally." He give me a genuine smile, "Come on let's go play a bored game!"
He is such a strange person, it reminds me of Andromeda. Maybe that's why I like her so much.
"Sorry dad I can't, I'm going to Lucy's for the night." I look at my shoes.
"Oh, I understand, you are being a big teenager now." He smiles, "Maybe tomorrow then."
He walks off, that was strange, "Can you tell mum?" I yell after him.
"Yes, now go have some fun."
I shake my head and walk back out the door. Lucy has already got her car parked out front. "Thank you," I say as I get into the car.
The ride was very silent, not even any music playing. Thank god that it was only a 10 minute drive.
We get out of the car and walk inside. No wonder she asked me to come over, she's home alone, again.
"So where do you keep the ever so faithful drinks?" I ask already knowing the answer.
"Duh, in my secret fridge." She answers pulling it out of her closet.
She opens it and there is a carton of beer and a bottle of vodka mixed with coke.
"What would you like to have this time?" she asks.
"Vodka, that taste amazing and has more effect." I say bluntly. I need to calm down and forget the bad things.
"Vodka it is then." So she grabs it out as well as grabbing 2 cups.
"It's time to get drunk out of our minds." I say with a grin.
"Let's go!" She replies and we start chugging it down.
Cup after cup and we finish the bottle, and I can barely walk. Let alone talk with any thought behind it.
"Oh my god," I say, "You should drive me to nerd girls house!"
"Oh my god hell yeah!" and just like that we are in the car and she is going way over the speed limit. But I don't care, I'm going to see Andromeda.
I am totally going to kiss her. We are around the corner and Lucy stops and gets out. "I'm gonna stay at someone's house tonight so you drive yourself to her house and drive yourself home okay?"
She is so gonna get laid, but I don't care, I get to talk to need girl alone. I hop into the drivers seat and drive around the corner to her house.
I stop the car, walk to her door and knock. like continuously knock. The door opens, and I'm glad that Andromeda was the one to open it, and not anyone of her family members.
"Brooks?" She furrows her brows. "what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk," I say stumbling and almost falling on her.
"Oh my god, you're drunk." she grabs me and drags me inside and sits me down.
"Have you heard about the pride parade that's in a month?" I ask smiling, hoping it doesn't look too goofy.
"Um, yeah," She looks worried.
"Did you want to go with me to there?" I ask bluntly.
"Oh yeah that would be great." She says.
"Great, what time should I pick you up?" I ask.
"Wait what?" She asks baffled, "You are being for real?"
"Yeah, duh!" I say. "Now I must be going, I'll drive myself home."
"Wow, no you don't," She stops in front of me, "You are way to drunk for that."
"Then what am I meant to do?" I ask putting my hands on my hips.
"Oh, um," She looks anywhere but at me, "I would let you stay, but I need to organise things like that"
She looks at her shoes thoughtfully, which kinda makes her even more adorable than she is normally.
"I'll just walk you home," She sighs, "I would drive you but I can't drive."
"Wow that's sad." I cover my mouth, "Sorry I didn't mean it like that."
"It's fine Brooks," She says with a soft smile, "Now come on we have to get you home."
I stare at her blankly, "So um, my mum would be home, I don't want you to be around to see what happens when she sees me."
She sighs and walks off to what I presume is the kitchen, "Here have some water, it will help," She has a warm smile that I can't help but mirror. "Well a little anyway."
I take the glass of water, "Thank you." and I take small sips every now and then. "Maybe drinking that much wasn't a good idea."
She chuckles, "Yeah maybe drinking anything at all was a bad idea." She takes the now empty glass of water.
"Now don't get up too fast," She says and reaches out her hand. I grab it and she helps me up.
We head for the door, "And about your mother," She looks at me, "I don't care what she has to say."
"I'm sorry for what she says," I say looking at my feet, mainly to make sure they are moving right so I don't fall over.
"It's fine, I'm just glad you aren't like that," She smiles, it was then that I notice we are still holding hands.
I yank my hand away and stop dead on the path. "Are you okay?" You could hear genuine concern in her voice.
"I don't want to go home yet." I lie and sit down against the fence. Trying to hide my blush.
"okay we can just sit here for a while then." She smiles and sits down next to me.
......
It must have been at least an hour we just sat there, not talking, but still feeling seemingly comfortable.
"We better go now," I say turning to face her, to see she was staring at me. I look at her curiously.
"Yeah," she stands up and holds her hand out, "You should be getting home."
I grab hold of her hand and get up, but pull my hand away straight after and shove it in my pocket.
"So," She starts, but doesn't finish.
"So?"
"I don't know, I was hoping you'd have somthing to talk about." She laughs nervously.
"Oh," I look at the ground. "I don't really have anything to talk about."
......
We reach my house after about 20 minutes of silent walking.
"Sorry that I was such a bother." I say and look down at my shoes.
"No you weren't a bother at all," she said with a smile, "I'm glad you came to talk to me, I don't know what would have happened to you if you hadn't."
She has concern written all over her face, "Well you have my number now, so don't be too worried." I pull her in for a hug.
Just then the door opens and my mother sees me standing there hugging the filthy lesbian girl from school.
