Naruto does not know how long he can keep this up. All this running and trying to defend himself was making him tired. He doesn't like this. His teammates are being more cruel and harsher on him now. He doesn't know if they do it intentionally to make him suffer more and that they just don't like him like the villagers or if it is something else. Everything has been going from bad to worse and he doesn't know how to fix it. Iruka had gotten angry at him the other day when he wanted to just vent to his teacher. Iruka had yelled at him for disturbing him so late at night and now Naruto has been avoiding the teacher so that he doesn't annoy the man again. Tsunade had kicked him out of the office when he asked if she had some time for tea with him. He may have caught them both at the wrong time but now, he has to avoid them. He didn't mean to be a burden to anyone, he hadn't meant to make them angry.

"Get lost Naruto! You're just a waste of space and you're getting in the way!" Sakura screeched when she saw Naruto approaching and opening his mouth to speak. Naruto's hand dropped, he was about to greet them when Sakura had practically told him to make himself disappear. Sasuke hadn't said anything either, the raven just looked away, grumbling something under his breath about stupid dobes. Naruto looked at the ground, tears welling up in his eyes. "I... I am sorry I have been a burden. Goodbye." Naruto said, bowing to them quickly before he sprinted off, leaving them in shock.
"Hey watch it!"
"I am so sorry!" Naruto exclaimed, helping Shikamaru up.
"Che. Troublesome." Shikamaru sighed angrily, not seeing the hurt on Naruto's face. "Gosh Naruto can you be any more of an idiot?! Geez, I feel bad for Sasuke and Sakura having a teammate like you." Ino grumbled, glaring. Naruto bowed quickly, apologising again before sprinting off. Shikamaru frowned at the blond. He hadn't expected the blond to be like this. He also didn't expect that he would sound so angry.
"Where are you rushing off to? Late again thanks to being an absolute idiot?" Kiba joked, laughing at his own joke that no one else in his team found funny. "Come on guys! Naruto is a joke!" Kiba said, phrasing it wrongly making Naruto even sadder. Hinata frowned angrily, she doesn't like it when Kiba makes fun of Naruto. Naruto saw the frown and thought it was directed at him as she was looking at him. Even Hinata is mad at me. I must have done something really wrong ne. Naruto apologised formally to team 8 for wasting their time before he took off again, leaving team 8 utterly confused by the behaviour.
"Why is Naruto-kun running away from team 8 like this? This is most unyouthful." Lee asked, unfortunately, Naruto heard that too and he was deeply saddened that even Lee sounds angry at him.

Naruto kept running with no destination in mind. The past few days he kept upsetting people unintentionally but they have all reacted badly. See Kurama-San, no one wants me around. If I just leave, you can be freed from this cage and I would no longer burden you. Naruto thought to the fox who was growling at him.
I forbid you! Don't you pick that kunai up! Kurama snarled at the blond who ignored him. Do you freaking hear me?! I said don't do it! Kurama howled.
There is no point in me hanging around anymore Kurama-san... You also shouldn't be jailed like this to be used as a weapon, none of you bijuus should. It isn't fair to you guys. If I can't free the others, I should free you at least.
I forbid you! Do you hear me?! I am the great Kyuubi no Kitsune. Obey me! Drop that kunai right now. NOOOO! Kurama growled but the boy did not heed his words as he glided the sharp kunai against his skin, watching as blood flowed out from the deep cut. It was oddly satisfying to watch. Kurama was trashing around in his mindscape, trying to get the blond to stop but the blond had blocked him out. He desperately tried to heal Naruto but the boy figured out some sort of seal that prevented the chakra from healing him. HOW DARE YOU! HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME? Kurama hissed, tears streaming down his furry cheeks. This was the second time he has ever cried, the first time for Hagoromo and now for Naruto.
Goodbye Kurama-san. I am glad I got to spend my life with you. Thank you for always helping me. Naruto said to the fox in their mental link before he aimed the kunai with his bloodied and weakened upper limbs towards his heart. NOOOOO! Kurama howled in anguish as he watched the blond plunge the sharp object into his heart. Goodbye kit. I love you.

The teams having felt bad for the way they had treated Naruto when he did basically nothing wrong, had searched for Naruto for hours before they finally found him when it was almost sunset. Hinata had fainted the moment she saw Naruto laying in his own blood with a kunai embedded deep into his chest. Sasuke dropped to his knees next to the blond. Naruto is his best friend and now his best friend is gone. His blue eyes now a dull lifeless form staring into space. The rest had burst into tears, the girls a little louder than the boys. Kiba clenched his fist so hard his fingernails broke the flesh of his palm. "Who did this?!" Kiba growled, ready to kill.
"Naruto." Neji answered softly, letting a few tears roll down his cheeks.
"What?! How can you-"
"It is the facts, Kiba. Those wounds on his arms are clearly self-inflicted." Neji said softly. Kiba shook his head angrily. "You're wrong! Naruto would never do that!" Kiba growled, "he wouldn't... he wouldn't do that."  Kakashi looked away, he hadn't seen the severity of Naruto's mental state. He overlooked it, thinking that since Naruto could survive most of the things, he could survive anything. He hadn't taken into account that having to fight for survival for so long would take a toll on the mind and spirit. He gently closed Naruto's eyes and picked him up despite Sasuke clutching desperately at the body and crying.
Tsunade and Iruka has immediately broken down when they saw the limp body of their love one in Kakashi's arms. Kurenai sent a missive to Jiraiya telling him about this tragic news and to hurry back. Shizune had to hold back Tsunade from wasting all her chakra trying to heal a dead person, all whilst crying and choking on her own tears.

Naruto was given a small funeral where he was said to be buried next to his parents. Villagers had thought about destroying Naruto's headstone but then they realized that it was next to the fourth Hokage's tomb and it suddenly clicked; the reality of what they have done dawned on them and they left without another word, upset that they had drove the fourth hokage's legacy into committing suicide. Naruto was finally receiving the respect and recognition that he wished for.
Only if it didn't have to take an innocent life for that to happen.
