Sasuke bit on his nails as he paced the hallways. Itachi was more calm as he sat in the plastic chair, not moving since an hour ago when they were pushed out of the room. Sasuke was panicking and feeling frustrated and angry and every other negative emotions, the sad thing is it was really obvious. However the other Uchiha seemed indifferent but Sasuke could tell Itachi was also worried and internally freaking out. Tsunade walked out from the operating room, covered in blood which made the two Uchihas freeze in utter horror. Every single horrible thought running through their heads. Tsunade looked somewhat in distress but wasn't too sad so they were treating that as a good sign. "He is okay for now. The poison spread faster than we have anticipated-" at that Tsunade choked on a sob and she quickly wiped at her tears, making the two even more worried. "It's okay. He's going to be okay. We found that it was just a mixture of poisons so we concocted an antidote. We're praying really hard that his body doesn't reject the antidote. This is a painful process, he is suffering now I'm not going to lie." Tsunade said softly, feeling the hurt when she thinks about the blond being in so much pain. She led two into Naruto room but the two hesitated at the door, as if afraid to enter. "Why are you covered in blood?" Sasuke asked the hokage softly.
"... There was a complication and he just... coughed out the blood suddenly. It isn't transmitted by blood so don't worry." Tsunade replied quietly. She opened the door and pushed the two in gently, closing the door when the two entered. Naruto was still hooked to the heart monitor and all the other previous stuff. However there seem to be a lot more equipment attached than before. A bag of blood was connected to him, signifying he had lost a lot of blood. Sasuke swallowed a lump in his throat and he settled down in the chair next to Naruto's bed, Itachi following suit on the other side.

When Naruto woke up, the two Uchiha didn't know whether to leap for joy or to freak out. They have been watching Naruto suffering for the past two weeks and they could do nothing to help. "How are you feeling?" Sasuke asked softly.
"Been better." Naruto joked weakly, hoping Sasuke and Itachi wouldn't keep looking at him with this sad expression. Sasuke chewed on his lips as if contemplating want to do. Naruto moved a weak hand to try get Sasuke's hand. Sasuke saw the gesture so he quickly reached over to grasp the boy's hand. His hand is so soft. Sasuke mused as he gave Naruto's hand a light squeeze as a gesture for comfort. Itachi looked between his own brother and his blood brother - the boy he sworn to treat like a real brother, the boy he sworn to protect just like how the boy swore on the same silent promise to do the same for him. "I'll leave you guys alone." Itachi muttered softly, standing up and he glided towards Naruto. Giving Naruto a poke on the forehead affectionately, he left. The two boys watched the older man leave. "Did you mean it?"
"Hmm?" Naruto hummed in confusion.
"Did you mean it? When you... When you said you love me." Sasuke asked softly and hesitantly, as if afraid of the answer. Naruto gazed at him weakly. "I mean every word I said... but you cannot be with me." Naruto replied quietly, earning a confused and angry glare from the Uchiha.
"Why not?" Sasuke asked hotly.
"Because I am a nobody."
"What?" Sasuke hissed, feeling some sort of pain when he heard Naruto refer to himself as a nobody. Naruto blinked owlishly at him, feeling his eyelids drooping. He was getting really tired. "I am a demon, Sasuke. A noble like you can't be seen with a low life. It's not right nor should Itachi be seen with me - not as a brother, not as a friend." Naruto whispered weakly. Sasuke could feel Naruto's grip slacking.
"Naruto? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I'm tired." Naruto muttered, not wanting to let Sasuke worry. Everywhere was hurting badly. Sasuke frowned but accepted the reason, he adjusted Naruto's blanket and himself into a more comfortable position. "What are you doing? Go home."Naruto said, not wanting Sasuke to be uncomfortable. Sasuke shook his head and gripped Naruto's hand tighter to say that he wouldn't let go, he will stay here. He will stay here to protect Naruto from evil.
