Oh Singing Caged Bird.

Oh, singing caged bird,
Do you wish to be free?
You try to heard,
Yet people do not see

The effort in every sound that you make,
Oh, how you wish to be heard,
But they say "For your sake,
Stop singing little caged bird".

This put doubt in the little bird's head,
Should he continue singing his song,
Because everyone seemed to wish him dead,
Should he stop or fight on?

Oh how they did laugh and how they did jeer,
At the caged bird's tune,
"Little singing bird you do belong here,
In this noisy room".

Those comments put thought in the little bird's head,
Maybe this wasn't where he was meant
To spend his life, tired and underfed,
He wished to be with the blossom scent.

So when the moon had conquered the sky,
And the sun had retreated until daybreak ,
The little singing bird said his goodbye,
But the people of the house did not wake.

He flew southwards to a town,
And sang his joyous song,
But in between the leaves, green and brown,
Were the family he did long,

So before he was caged and now he was free,
Free to discover the world,
Free to fly with butterflies and bees,
Free to steal the oyster's pearl.

So before you wake up, listen to him,
Because he sings to you all day long,
But don't worry, he is completing his whim:
To fill the world with joyous song.
