Chapter V

"Stop."

I stood at a holt, his commandment made me do so. I turn to look at folded arms and an intimidating scowl. My hands were pressed behind my back.

"You have displayed a lot of courage, no one would have had the guts to be so rude to their king," I gulped, trying to hold back my fear, despite the line of sweat along my forehead. "And for this maybe you will be a good asset in the war."

I looked at him in shock, releasing a breath I didn't know I was holding. "So what, was this just a test?" I questioned.

"No I was honestly going to convict you, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that you will be helpful-,"

"Wait what are you talking about!" One of the alphas spoke out.

"Silence," his voice was strong a firm, causing anyone to jump a little bit. "We will need such a strong willed group of individuals for this war. And so for the time being you'll be staying in the west wing top floor."

Everyone was as awed by this as I was. It took me a minute to register what he was saying. We're free only for the time being. "And once the war is over what then?"

"You'll be tried, and we will deal with the matter then." He spoke sternly. And dismissed everyone. I look back at my pack, unable to hide the fear in my eyes.

Everyone had walked out before we could, with angry bubbling underneath. Giving sickening glares with soar merciless eyes. As we walked out a young man handed us a map, scaling out the castle. Several other servants stood handing us our bags, one stood in front of the rest, he spoke kindly, "If you would like to follow me I can direct you to your room."

We follow him through the long corridor. Down several passages and staircases. Some ceiling high floors, with an elegant chandelier pulling down the entire roof. Everything was grand and lavish. We had made our way to this an empty room We got out to the court yard, green grass laid out before us. "Just a little farther, sorry about the cut through I just love the gardens," I could agree. Roses of all different colors lined up to make a moon. A fountain graciously placed and on the inside of the crest, it stood several feet away where to two howling wolves facing it. An entrance into a maze, of thick brush stacked several feet higher than us. You could get lost just by looking at it. I walk a little closer daring.

I look into the passageway dark and dense. Noticing every detail, how the shadows made it more mysterious. I heard a sound soft, but alarming. I turn to catch up with everyone else.

Two large arms pull me back. My bag falling to the floor. I grab one of its arms, twist and pull over my shoulder. A body fumbles onto the floor, lying on its back. A face scrunched in pain, a face I can't get out of my head. I look down at my emerald. "What the hell," Maximus goans.

"It's your fault, you don't snatch people. I thought you were a mutt."

"Aren't you one," he paused for a minute, he face scrunching up in pain, "God damn that hurt," he wheezed out again. Ignoring his other comment.

I was already sick of this conversation, I wanted to speed up our little encounter,"What do you want Max," I snapped.

"Well I want to apologize, about the court and everything. Everyone was watching, and I had to say something I didn't believe," he professed. "My father and all the other alpha's were going to question my alpha potential. I couldn't risk it so close to my coronation." he eyes held senairty.

I clutched onto the necklace, "You forgot to apologize for the last Twenty years," I couldn't bare another word. Taking in a deep breath, I turn and trudge off.

I continued walking following their scents. Through the fresh cut grass, and the lilies sprawled about. I followed it into a door leading into another building off the side of the castle. A family size house, complementing the castle. Walking closer and up the stairs I was still clutching the necklace.

Thank the moon goddess this thing still works. I couldn't get it out of my head. All I could think about is this emerald. What if? My pace slowed down a bit, unconsciously. Picking it up I stared at it. The way the light would reflect off it, how it would shine eminently.

"Hey where did you go?" Ferra jumped in. Startled I moved back slightly.

"I just got lost looking at the scenery," I smile at her.

"Well we all choose our rooms there is one left," Grabbing my hand, Ferra guiding me to my room. "Here," She nudged me towards two double doors.

I opened the two doors. Revealing an all white room, gold rim. A large canopy bed rested in the middle of the room. The curtains dressed in silk, light blue with swirls attacking one another. I just stood there at the door surveying the place. The TV is placed in the corner touching the ceiling and two walls. "We didn't want to open the door until you got here," Ferra spoke behind me. But I was too entranced to pay much attention to her. I look to my right a walk in closet opened empty waiting to filled. A dresser stood between the closet and bathroom room door, books sat on top the shelf. Looking all the way to the left I spot another pair of double doors, mostly glass giving me a sneak peak of the outside. I walk over to the balcony, as I got closer I could see the two chairs and little coffee separating them. Opening it the wind gently nudged me back, pushing it's way past me trying to get in the room.

"Sleep overs are going to be fun," She knocked me out of my trace.

"Yeah, maybe we could have one tonight," I look over at Ferra, smiling.

"All alphas report to the meet room," A woman's voice spoke over the loudspeaker. Ferra and I looked at each other contemplating the same thought, should I go?

"Hey," Ferra walked up to me, "He let you go cause you're alpha material, they consider you an alpha," she reassured me. "And if not then we'll just kick there ass' again." she smiled.

"You're right," I breathed out, smiling back. I turned and walked back, not before putting my stuff down.

I already had the map in my hand and tried to decipher it. Going down the elevator, to the first floor. Constantly passed by maids and other pack members. Occasionally looking up to see I wasn't walking into a wall. I follow the little arrow until I'm outside the door.

Standing in front of double doors, with curtains shading over them. I took a breath ready to push the door open.

I stopped.

I took another breath.

Reaching over to the knob again. "Hey you coming in or not?" I jumped back at the voice.

"Yeah I was just making sure this was the right room," I quickly conjured up.

Opening the door I come face to with all the alphas. The sudden sound of commotion is lost, dead. The all looked at me, like an alien. A freak of nature trying to squeeze my way into their little world. I felt like I was in highschool again and all the poplars were just talking behind my back. One of them brush past me, sitting in a seat. I stood at the door as the alpha king acknowledged my presents.

"Sit down Daniella," he gestured to the only seat left. Right next to the head two chairs farthest away from the king. "Now we all the other supernatural creatures are joining forces on opposing sides to fight this war. It could be worse than the first war," we all feel uneasy, "Today we need to choose what side."

"We need to lay out the pros and cons, see which would most beneficial for us," One of the alphas spoke out.

"Which side has the more powerful creatures, it will decrease our casualties," My ex-alpha states.

"So what we might have to team up with vampires," I spoke casually.

"We'll have to put our differences aside," this time it was the alpha king who was speaking.

"Aren't we going to consider that they might be fighting for the wrong cause?" I suggest.

"She is right," one of the younger alphas spoke.

"She's right but, we can't afford any casualties. We're still recovering from the last war," an older alpha says, "You guys were too young to see what had happened."

"Yeah but,-"

"But what!" he voice alarming, "We can't wipe out our entire race," the alpha king stated.

"But that's not why we fight wars, it's for our rights. What happens when evil wins, what going to become of us. What kind of society would we live in?" he asked all good questions.

"I don't know about this your highness," another elderly alpha speaks.

"They are right, but this will be difficult. We'll need to train harder we'll need to everyone in top shape, no time for mistakes,-"

"So what are you saying?" I butt in.

The alpha king looked to me, "Were most likely going to lose this war, and there might not be any survivors."
