Chapter IX

I woke the next morning to see my room was exactly how I left it, demolished. I looked around at and remembered last night. I tore through all my stuff looking of it. My bed turned upside down, my duffle bag ripped and it's remain scattered everywhere. I knocked out all the dresser jars, and ripped all the apart. I finally lost it and started scratching at the walls. My wolf was going haywire, and I need to talk to Albany. So I gave up on calling her, i'm going to find her myself. I took a bag and jumped out the window, not caring to wash up.

I landed on the soft grass. The gentle winds pushed against it, it swayed. I smelled the refreshing smell of dewdrops drops. The sun pecked my cheeks, It was so quiet and peaceful. It calmed my wolf slightly, but I was still on edge.

I could just lie there and bask, but I had to leave before someone noticed. I turn, to walk towards the forest. It seemed dark and mystical. The castle extended to great lengths. Going acres, making it so there was enough room for everyone. It was the perfect place for everyone to be safe and, comfortable. So it's going to be extremely difficult to leave, unnoticed. I walk towards the forest, trying to keep my composure. I see a guard out of the corner of my eye, I continue on walking.

"Excuse me, where are you going?" A guard spoke, he was large with broad shoulders. Tall with a buzz cut, giving him an intimidating facade. I could take him.

"For a run," I continue walking.

"Did you inform the king or your alpha of this?" he asked.

"In two days I will be one, so I don't have anyone to ask," I brush past him, and he tries to stop me. I bend his arm up making him bend over, and whisper in his ear, "I'm going for a run," I state sternly, "You are not going to follow me, or I will rip your arm off, not break, not dislocate, rip it off, so no matter how much you try to heal yourself, you'll always be missing an arm, understand," I finished.

He shook his head frantically. I released him and continued walking. I walked all the way t'll I got lost in a sea of trees. Thick, so no one could see me change. I took off my clothes and shifted, my bones cracked and reformed. My shoulder blade violently pushed down, my legs scrunched and went up. My mouth extended out and a snout formed, and my nose sprouted out. I pick my clothes and began to run. I ran past trees, jumping over fallen trees. I brushed past everything, in a green and brown mush. I kept running until I came to the border.

There wasn't any line or fence guarding it, it was a feeling. When you cross a territory you feel like I knew that the moment I cross this, everyone will know. My feet reversed a couple feet. I could feel the sweat, slowly strolling down my fur. A part of me a small part, small was scared. But the king wouldn't understand, and even if he did, i'd get her arrested. I sucked in a breath, closed my eyes. And charged past the border.

I felt a break, like I was finally released from the ropes that held me. I ran, accelerating my pace. The trees started to clear, and the bustling sound of cars engines started to fill the air. I was a few feet away and before anyone noticed I shifted back. My bones shrunk and, my snout shrunk down until my nose reappeared. I walked out of the woods, I stood behind a shop near the forest. I was small and quaint, the fresh smell of doughnuts and coffee robbed the air. Latching onto any innocent victim that just happened to be passing by. It made my stomach growl as I got further out of the alley way. I had no money in my pockets and an empty stomach along with it. I looked at the shop hopelessly, and turned the other way. I was coming to an intersection, I looked up at the green and white lettered sign. EMERY. I crossed over to emery, and walked a little farther into the complex.

I was surrounded by light and warm area. Houses matched on another, small quaint little places. I'd never been in one but I knew the inside was the same. I walked till I got near a cul-de-sac all the way at the end of the street. The first house I knew it was hers.

It was an old cottage. Lost in the dense trees, they engulfed her home. But if I looked close enough, it peared through revealing itself. While all around her was houses lined up neatly which stood out. I walked towards it, the house grew clearer, I notice more of it. How small it was, enough the fit one- whatever the hell she is. I walked up her jagged brick walkway. Roots and grass sprouted out of the ground, peaking out the brick. The grass that surrounded the house was overgrown, it looked like a piece of forest was place right in the middle of the neighborhood. I look back between her house and everyone else's, the contrast is almost comical. Now I stood in front of her door, it was bland there wasn't anything special about it. I knocked, my hand colliding with the wood bagging on it. I waited patiently, tapping my foot. The door slowly creaked open. LIke the scenes in horror movies, no one's there. I peered into the dark corridor. I couldn't see anything, besides the light emanating from the door.

"What do you want?" a borderline feminine voice spoke. Albany. She walked into light her features became more prominent. She was older, peaking out was little specks of grey among the her brown hair. "I told you not to come here unless it was emergency," she glared. She wasn't very intimidating height wise, but she still scared half the people on this street, "I am risking a lot for you," she points her finger. "Now, why the hell are you here?" she questioned.

"My necklace is start to not work, I can feel my wolf calling for him," I grab on to it lifting it up and showing her, "The rock is barely glowing now. In a few hours my wolf could force me to shift and kill somebody," I pause, "or worse mate with Max," my face scrunched up in discuss.

"I told you that suppressing your wolf like this can have deadly consequences," she reminded me.

"I know but this was necessary-," she stops me.

"I know, I know you told me all of this before," she trots off. I follow in suit.

"So can you help me or not," I ask.

"I might be able to prolong it for a few more months."

My smile grew on my face, "Oh thank you, you don't know how grateful I am," I go in for a hug, she swatted at me.

"Okay, get off me," once I was a few inches away she walked out the room. I followed behind her. I followed her down a flight of stairs, the old wooden kind. The moaned and cried out in agony, as we took each step.

I could feel my wolf weeping for Max's.

A broken piece of decayed wood hung from the celine. I looked under, to see a dark room with only one thing illuminated. A single spotlight on a brewing pot.

"Hand me the amulet," she arms reached out it. Once I handed it to her, she dropped it into the pot. It came to life, bubbling and overflowing. She threw my a knife, a little too close to my face. I caught it by the blade, I felt blood seep through my palm.

"Put a couple drops of blood in the pot," she pointed to it.

Putting my hand over the smoke the first one dropped easily, the pot responded glowing red. The second drop held on, and once it did it was as if a pinned dropped. The pot glowed, and then there was nothing.

I looked at it for a second, "What's supposed to happen no-," I couldn't even finish my sentence. The pot glowed a brilliant light, I marveled at it. The pot ate itself, it sank suddenly, like it was being trained out of pool. Only it took seconds. The pot dried and the emerald was all that was left. It laid there at the bottom of the pot, not a single drop of water on it.

Albany picked it up, "Here you go," the chain linked itself around my neck. "Now this should last you another month or so."

"But what about the your final favor to me?" I asked desperately.

"Well that's going to take awhile, it's almost unheard to get rid of the mate bond completely. It's going to take a lot, and you know what you're risking now do you," she asked.

"Yeah, yeah the goddess could possible have me damned for life, but I don't care. She forced this upon me, upon everyone, she honestly thought that everyone would be happy?" I questioned. "I don't want to be tied down to him," I paused. "to anybody."

"Just know what you're risking, how he feels?" she looked at me.

"I don't care, I never got a damn thing in my life. Everything i've done is to help someone. Can't this one time I get what I want?" I look her.

"I know he's not blood, but are you sure this is what you want?" Albany looked at me, her eyes soft. And for the first time she looked like she genuinely cared for my well being.

"Positive," I walked out of her basement, to the hallway leading out. Once I had stepped out of the front door she closed behind me. I'm positive. That's when the thought occurred to me, "Wait, what do you mean he's not blood," I turn back to see the door was closed. Walking up I raised my hand to knock. Lowering it. And for some reason I knew she wasn't going to answer my question.
