Sun Slips Away

Silence.

Blank, open air, waiting to be filled.

A dark chuckle did the job.

"I thought that it would take years before someone stumbled upon my book."

A chill rolled down my spine.

All three of us tensed at the simple sentence that didn't belong in this moment. This moment was meant for celebration and happiness and restoration, but now all of that had disappeared.

"You think that your pain is finished, but it's just beginning." He growled.

I turned swiftly to face the villain that was Lucius Malfoy.

The man who had created both a way to destroy and restore wizard life. The man who had turned his own son into a puppet to do his bidding. The man who had both torn apart and brought together my family.

The man who was holding a knife.

His hands twitched and the world around me grew slow as the blade inched agonizingly towards Harry Potter's heart. Harry had just gotten rid of this fear for his life. He had a girl and a future.

Take care of them.

And before Hermione or Harry could turn around to take in what was happening, I took the knife. Burning and boiling and pain inserted itself into my gut. I held in a scream as I crumpled to the cold floor.

"STUPEFY!!!" Hermione cried before falling next to me, more tears pooling in her eyes.

I could barely move and my vision blurred. I winced as Hermione's hand ghosted over the wound, dagger and all. She winced along with me, guilt only growing.

"George..." Harry whispered in shock.

He knelt next to me beside Hermione, panicked. Lucius Malfoy was knocked out in the corner and yet the two friends still looked like they were under attack.

"I'm... ok" I gasped.

Hermione glared at me.

"Stop talking you bloody idiot! How could you be so bloody selfless? Fred is about to be cured and you go and get yourself a dagger to the gut!" She cried.
